Chapter 2 New beginning
Halo city Mexico, Red Street 10am
Audrey
A yellow taxi pulled over in the neighborhood.
Audrey, her dad Cole and her elder brother Theodore alighted with their bags.
“Welcome once again to Halo city” the driver congratulated with a big smile across his face.
“Thank you!!” Audrey and her father waved mirroring his smile while Theodore focused on his phone as the driver sped away.
“Ow!! It's so heavy” Audrey complained as they approached their house making Theodore hiss.
“No one asked you” he replied with a mocking tone making her roll her eyes.
“Now kids, we just got here, let's all get along alright?” Cole smiled as Audrey pouted with a nod.
Audrey was a girl of nineteen, white skinned, light brown hair reaching for her waist, chocolate brown eyes with thick lashes, pink lips, average heighted and revealing curves and a perfect body size. Her features were so beautiful and graceful, so beautiful.
Her brother Theodore was twenty, dark hair, pale skinned, blue magnetic eyes, slender figure, sharp features that made girls drool at the sight of him and a tall frame….just like their father.
“Hello!! I'm Layla! Welcome to Red Street!” A girl Audrey's age greeted with smiles as she walked up to them.
“Hi…I'm Audrey, my father Cole and my big brother Theo” Audrey replied warmly as the girl turned towards Cole. She waved and he did same.
“It's Theodore not Theo you short cat” He hissed making everyone but Audrey chuckle.
“We're neighbors, I live next door. Let me help you with your bags” Layla gestured towards Audrey's bags. A sigh of relief washed through her as the bag was so heavy. She mouthed a ‘thank you’ as they strolled towards their new house.
Time skip…..After dinner 8pm
“Did you guys like the food?” Audrey asked as she slumped on the available couch beside Cole.
“It was delicious as always Audy” their father smiled touching her chin and she giggled.
“You wouldn't want my comments baby sis” Theodore replied unfazed still glued to his phone. Audrey pouted as her cheeks swelled with unspoken words. Cole noticed it.
“Theodore, a nice word won't hurt you”he stated sternly making him chuckle.
“It was just okay” he replied nonchalantly and Audrey sighed. Just okay?! She's spent half her time and energy to make the food taste great and all he could say was just okay?! He's so mean.
“Audrey, remember why we're here. Don't forget your dream job awaits you…. forget about Theo” Cole stated making everyone laugh.
“I won't forget dad.”
Midnight….
A sigh escaped Audrey's lips as she closed her diary.
“I wish you're here with me mum” she whispered as a tear threatened to leave her eyes. She quickly wiped it off sighing softly. Her windows were open as she viewed the city of Halo from her bed. The city was beautiful…at least from her perspective.
It was silent as the night itself, but it was glistening with lights…. maybe, just maybe she'd like it here. She finished school a month ago and she couldn't wait to bring her dreams into reality starting tomorrow.
“ The world's most incredible baker” she giggled as she recited the words in her head. She could be all she dreamed and more, she didn't want to have doubts even when her brother tells her she has the lamest dream ever.
A smile graced her sexy lips as she imagined a lot of things in her head….till she fell asleep.
Morning 7am
Sunlight peeked through her window into her eyes. Annoyed, she turned the other way to continue her sleep. She heard a faint sound of her name calling over and over again until a soft object landed with full force against her soft body.
“Ow! What the….” She turned towards the direction and found Theodore standing beside her bed with a smug look on his face.
“Get up drowsy head!” He yelled as anger graced her face.
“What's your deal Theo?! Get out” she mumbled drifting off again.
“I'll call James Lollies recipes and tell them, someone's not ready for the job” he smirked and her eyes shot open. She quickly reached for her phone checking the time. 7:05, her eyes widened.
“Oh no I'm late! No! You didn't tell me” she panicked, getting off the bed in a hurry.
“Don't you need to sleep some more? Sleep is actually important you know.” He laughed hard as she scurried towards the bathroom.
“You're evil Theo!” She yelled from the bathroom and he smirked sitting on her bed.
“Sleepy beauty” he mumbled maintaining the smirk.
Minutes later, she walked to the dinning, stuffed an apple in her mouth, her backpack hung on one arm over one of her shoulders, placing a bag of cookies and a bottle water into the bag as she hurried out.
“Wait a sec…. where's papa?” She asked turning towards Theo's strolling figure.
“Dumb beauty! He's at work!” He yelled into her face and her hair almost went out of place. She rolled her eyes and scoffed before leaving. Dumb beauty?!!! He's so mean. She'll deal with him next time…just not now. Her heart was throbbing against her chest as she had a weird feeling about the day.
