Promise

"So how have you been these past few years?" Long Xue asked.

"Not so bad. Other than the food during the missions, nothing else caused any problem"

"What types of missions did you go to?"

"Classified."

"Which countries did you get to visit during the missions?"

"Classified."

"Did you meet any girls during this time?"

"Classified."

"Ugh! You're just messing with me, aren't you?"

"No! I really can't say. And the women in the military are so ferocious. I had a female sniper in my team during a mission and guess what in a critical time during the mission she needed to use the washroom. I had to take her to a washroom in the enemy facility and guard her hoping that nobody would find us."

"Hehehehhehehhe! That was hilarious! Are you making this up?"

"Absolutely not! Don't tell anyone about this. If she knows that I leaked this information she'll come with her sniper rifle to hunt me down." Long Yun said horrified.

"Alright, I'll think about it. Hehehehe!"

"So what have you been doing these years?"

"I'm managing the family business since dad and you are not here. Mom helps me too. She always talks about you. You would think that I was the one adopted if you heard her talk."

"Mother was always like that. Remember when I learned that I was adopted and started calling her aunty Qin?"

"She beat you up and said that if she ever heard you call her aunty again she would make you forget your own name." Long Xue laughed remembering those days. She also cried thinking that if he wasn't her brother he would be taken away from her.

"So how many days are you staying this time?" a look of sadness appeared in her eyes. She didn't know when she'll see him once he leaves again.

"I actually finished my active duties so I'm going to be joining the Donghai University as a military instructor."

"Huh? You...you left the army base permanently? Does dad know?"

Long Yun rolled his eyes. "Of course, he does. He was the one who approved it. See this is the order signed by him."

"Whew! I thought you escaped from the army and once dad knows he'll get mad. Why Donghai city? You could've stayed in the capital with an official position in the Long family's army. Let me talk to dad."

Long Xue felt that she had to keep him close as he'd be leaving the base and make up for the lost time. Her mom would also be very happy if he stayed in the capital. Also having him in the capital would be like the Long family suddenly growing a pair of wings. Although she had a lot of power and influence being the young miss of the Long family still there were many things she couldn't do being a woman. 

"Wait...wait. I asked for getting posted in Donghai City to find about the whereabouts of my family."

Long Xue became silent. She finally understood why dad would send him somewhere other than the capital. She still felt a bit sad as they were gonna get separated again.

Seeing her beautiful face getting gloomy Long Yun quickly said, "Don't worry. I won't be taking much time. I'll stay there for two to three months. If I can't find anything within that time I'll ask the old man to send me to the Capital. Happy now?"

"Hmm. It's good that you know that I'd be angry if you stayed there for too long. But you must come back if there is an emergency."

"Alright, that's a promise." Long Yun smiled thinking that if he can't find anything in the designated time he'd leave his past behind forever.
