Chapter Three - Tragedy and Escaping

The three Rogues were fighting with Jake. Jake started to lose his strength after a few bites with so much blood loss. Those Rogues did a number on him. Knowing that soon Jake will give out soon, one of the three Rogues decide to chase after Mary and Esmeralda, while the other two Rogues finished off killing Jake. Jake was very strong that he killed one of the Rogues but not strong enough to defeat two Rogues at the same time he then lost his life with the last strike the Rogue gave him. Jake collapsed and watched in the direction his wife and child fled to with his last breath he had left. 

Before Jake finally died, he said, "This isn’t over, Rogues. My little princess will defeat you all. You all shall see when the time comes." Then his world turned black. He was gone. When Jake was dead, Alpha Gary McKenzie along with his Beta Mark Nathaniel Jones, his Third in Command Jacob Netherlands and three other warriors showed up in their wolf forms and killed the third Rogue who was left standing proud in his wolf form.

Alpha Gary received a mind link from Mary Knight that they were under attack by Rogues just four miles away from the packhouse. He was furious that their border control did not stop these Rogues on time. Not knowing how the Rogues passed through the borderlines, the Knight family was the first victims to get attacked. Once they have arrived at the scene in their wolf forms, it was already too late for Jake. Seeing that there was one Rogue standing, Mark and Jacob quickly took him down and did not spare him at all. The Rogue died instantly. They should have kept the Rogue alive to interrogate him but they were caught up with the birthday party and now this tragedy, they weren’t thinking clearly.

Watching their dead friend on the ground, Alpha Gary quickly glanced at Mark and Jacob and said, "Mark and Jacob! Take Jake back to the packhouse. The rest of you burn the dead Rogues."

Beta Mark replied, "Yes, Alpha." 

Then followed Third in Command Jacob, "Yes, Alpha but where is Mary? I've also picked up a scent from a child. Did they have a child?" The Alpha was shocked to hear that there was a child. He didn’t pick up the scent right away until he took a deep sniff of the air. Then to his surprise, he was shocked to know there was a child. 

"Has the Knight’s been keeping a secret from the pack? Who is this child? I'll have the trackers track them down. I've just mind linked them. They are almost here. And I was not aware of a child," said Alpha Gary.

Beta Mark then replied, "I smell a third Rogue. I think he is after Mary and the child." The Alpha kind of figured there would be more Rogues around. For Mary and the child to flee, they were running for their lives. Meanwhile, the trackers made their way to where everyone was located at, while the warriors burned the dead Rogues on the ground. 

One of the warriors came forward and said, "Alpha, the trackers are here." Alpha Gary looked over his head and saw the tracker.

"Alpha, we just tracked Mary and the child over by the cliff. Plus there are more Rogues," said the Alpha's tracker. Happy to hear some great news about Mary and the child is found, Alpha Gary was not too happy about hearing that there were more Rogues on their territory. 

Alpha Gary then responded, "Ok, let's go after them. Mark and Jacob leave Jake. We'll come back for him. He's already gone. May he rest now." They all took off running in their wolf forms towards the cliff.

As Mary and her daughter were running away from the three Rogues, Mary yelled out to Esmeralda, "Esme keep running!"

Trying to catch her breath, Esmeralda responded, "Mommy, I'm tired. My legs want to give out. Ahhhhhhhhhhh!!" Mary quickly looked at Esmeralda when she screamed. There were six more Rogues that had appeared and grabbed Esmeralda. The Rogue then started to attack Mary.

Mary yelled towards Esmeralda, "No, let her go. I won't let you take her."

It appears to be an Alpha that spoke up, "Buahahahhaha, you are going to die. You alone can't stop us. She is mine now!" 

"Why would they want my child? Do they know about the Moon Goddess daughter," Mary was pondering about this when Esmeralda yelled out, "Ahhhhhhhh! Mommy. Help me!"

Mary looks towards her and answered, "I'll protect you. Close your eyes, Esme." Mary was hesitating at first but she must protect her daughter. So Mary did what she had to do. She shifted into her werewolf form. This will be the last time Mary will ever see her baby. Mary must fight.

Mary told Esmeralda to close her eyes and so she did. Esmeralda can hear some bones breaking and whimpers of some sort but she kept her eyes closed. She was too afraid to look but must obey her mother. Then Esmeralda heard wolves fighting. She can hear the growls and biting. 

Esmeralda panicked and took a peek, "Wha-aat is going on? Is- is that mommy? She shifted into a wolf and fighting those ugly beasts with three others," she pondered. Somehow Esmeralda knew that was her mother because Mary had the same eyes while looking at Esmeralda for a moment. She is beautiful in white and bigger than those ugly beasts.

While Esmeralda was watching the scene, two of the so-called Rogues are still holding onto her. The fight continues for a while now and Esmeralda couldn’t keep her eyes closed. She was too curious to see what’s going on. Mary is fighting for her dear life. 

"Wow!!! Is that you, Mommy? You're a giant dog," Esmeralda tells herself, wondering if that white wolf is truly her mom. Esmeralda would have never imagined her mom looking like that and can transform into a beautiful white werewolf. 

"That is incredible. Does that mean I can shift too," Esmeralda said to herself again? But suddenly, the Rogues pinned the white wolf down and took a big bite out of Mary's neck, killing her instantly. 

"Ahhhhh! Mommy," Esmeralda yelled out?! Anger and tears appeared and she had no words to say. Esmeralda was very devastated as she watched her mom shift back into her human form. Esmeralda was crying so hard, knowing she was the white wolf, Esmeralda bit into the Rogue to let her go.  She was so angry; she then began to feel pain before shifting into her wolf form.

Alpha Rogue has just killed Mary in front of her daughter. He did not show any mercy because his mission was to kill every pack member in this territory. Soon it was going to be the little girl’s life in his hands. He is just going to squeeze the little girl's life out of her pretty little body. When Esmeralda started to scream out in pain, Alpha Rogue quickly looked towards her and saw the most unbelievable thing that could happen to a little child. 

"That cannot be. You are not 16 to be able to shift. Who are you," Alpha Rogue asked out loud? He was shocked and now Alpha Rogue doesn’t want to end her life after all. Alpha Rogue wants to make Esmeralda his once she is at age. She will be his little assassin and his mate. Alpha Rogue will train her to kill. Knowing that she is special, she could compose some powers to help rule the Rogues territory.

The little girl spoke, "You've killed my mother!!! I hate you." Esmeralda screams and took that chance to run away from the Rogues tearing herself away from them. 

Then Alpha Rogue yelled at the other Rogues, "After her. We need her alive. She's a special one." They all went after Esmeralda in wolf forms. Esmeralda for being only five years old was too fast for them. She was a little tiny white wolf with a star shape in gray over her right eye. She's definitely one special girl. A girl made from the Moon Goddess herself. Everyone must know about the legend back in school that rarely people shift at a young age and those who do, are very blessed by the Moon Goddess and made to keep control of their werewolf population. 

*Flashback* 5th Grade, English Class, Many years ago

 “Alright class, settle down. Today we are going to discuss about the Moon Goddess and a very special legend. It was said that a long time ago before Selene became the Moon Goddess, there was a previous Moon Goddess at the time. This Moon Goddess had a daughter who was strong as the Moon Goddess. One day, the daughter was so bored; she left the moon to be on Earth with the humans. She enjoyed spending time with the humans and she felt like she belonged on Earth. Until one day, Hades started releasing evil (demons) onto Earth, and the Moon Goddess daughter used her powers to protect the humans on Earth. Hades saw that and got very frustrated and started releasing more demons onto the earth. They battle for over 300 years until the Moon Goddess lost her life while fighting alongside her daughter. The daughter lost control over her powers due to the sadness and love of her mother. She died a few months later. The daughter was a true legend and it was said a new warrior will take the lead. So they thought. It’s been many years and there hasn’t been a replacement to protect the humans on this Earth. The good thing is that there hasn’t been any activity since the death of the Moon Goddess, from Hades. Looks like Hades got bored not being able to battle with the Moon Goddess and her daughter. Earth was under control until a New Moon Goddess started to roam the Earth looking for love. This New Moon Goddess we all know is named Selene,” said the teacher.

“Teacher, is that really happen? Why did Hades want to battle? Is he going to fight again because of Selene,” asked little Rogue?

“I really don’t know, Rogue Anderson. So far there hasn’t been any word of this Hades. Let’s just hope and pray to the Moon Goddess no evil will come to us,” said the teacher.

“Yeah, right. The only evil on this earth so far is us, the werewolves. Selene created us. Don’t you think Hades is planning something evil,” asked little Dale?

“You may be right, Dale McKnight. You may be right,” said the teacher.

“I bet Selene created a daughter to help protect the werewolves. Don’t you think so, teacher,” asked little Rogue?

*Flashback Over*
