Meeting my high school crush
I walk into the Blue Rivers hardware store. The store has a lot of different products that you don't normally find in other hardware stores. It is a small town and the few shops have to stand for the products the town might need. I love walking in and bruising through the new products. I am renovating an old house, and I love finding things that fits with the new decorations. I see the owner Luke in the back talking on the phone and wave at him as I walk by. As I look around I spot this beautiful vase on top of a shelf in the back, that would look perfect in the living room. So I stand on my toes reaching for it. It is just the tip of my fingers that touches the vase, but I am able to get it towards me slowly. Suddenly the big vase comes down on me and I brace for impact as I am falling backwards with the vase in my hands. My back hits something hard and two big hands covers mine and holds the vase in place. "Thanks!" I breath out relieved I didn't brake anything. My eyes travels up the arm until I am able to look at the face. Deep blue eyes stare down at me and the light brown hair is styled perfectly. He takes a step back, and I have to look twice because I did not expect to see this man ever again. "Will... Bane!" I blurt out caching myself before I call him just William like we are old friends. He looks at me confused and rubs the back of his neck: "I am sorry. Do I know you?". Act cool and collected, is all I am saying in my head like a mantra. "Of course not! I am two years younger than you and we went to the same high school. You were the quarterback so everybody knows who you are. I did not expect to see you back in this small town. Visiting your parents?" I say as casual as I possibly can. I don't look at him anymore, afraid I will blurt out more word vomit to my high school crush. He looks even better now than he did in high school. All rough, hard and handsome. I walk to the cashier to pay for the vase, but I can hear his footsteps behind me. "Yeah, I am here on vecation to visit my parents. Been a while since last time. I am sorry, but I don't think I know your name" he says while looking down on the floor, then up at me. If I didn't know any better I would believe he is embarrassed right now. That makes me smile because I should be the one embarrassed after the situation he found me in. "You are right! You don't know my name" I say as I pay Luke for the vase. Luke smiles at us before he looks at the man behind me: "Thank you, William, for making sure Keyla Nova didn't brake anything! She is so stubborn, never asking anybody for help. She did know I was in the back of the store on the phone, but she couldn't even wait for me to help her." I give Luke a death glare before I take my vase and walk out to my car. I ignore William as I do not have anything more to say to him. He is still standing in the hardware store, talking to Luke. So I hurry to my car and drive home. I know what Luke will say about me and it is nothing good. The whole town thinks badly off me, but I don't care. They have learned to respect me and my daughter as I have not tolerated anything else. My parents may have disowned me and almost nobody in town knows how I make my money. What everybody does know is that I am one of the most resourceful people in town. Some think I have some billioner stashed somewhere and that he might be the father of my child. Almost everybody in town is wondering who the father of my child might be. But my secrets are the best held secrets this town had ever seen. Only me and my best friends knows the truth, and that is how I like it. After I have worked a little at home, I shower and change before I leave to pick up Melody. We walk into the park in town since it is still too early for dinner. Melody is having such a good time playing. She makes me smile as I stand to watch. At the corner for my eye I see William standing at the side of the park watching us. I keep my focus on Melody and act like I don't see him.
