They looked at me.

“A hybrid?”

“I know. Everyone freaks out and I’m a little annoyed by it at this point.”

“It’s just that you’re very rare. The last hybrid we had, well, he didn’t last too long.”

“What do you mean?”

“He got cocky and had to get taken down. He was the same as you but not your power.”

“What could he do?”

“Bend fire. He was smoking hot, but he was crazy.”

She chuckled then I rolled my eyes. She looked at my neck after I moved my hair out of the way and gasped.

“Your mark is beautiful.”

I smiled then thought about Kyree.

“You’re about to meet the man who gave it to me.”

She gave me a little smirk then I slapped her shoulder playfully. We got to the highway and I saw Ky sitting there with his partner. I threw my bag down and jumped into his arms.

“Hey mamas.”

He held me closely and picked me up. I kissed him a few times then he sat me down. Sarah stared at the two of us for a minute.

“You two are such an attractive couple.”

Daniel and his partner walked up to the group.

“They make me feel single.”

Daniel hugged Sarah and the rest of the group. Kyree rested his arm around my shoulder then noticed that I was cut.

“What happened to your arm?”

“Just a small cut, nothing serious.”

Erik scoffed.

“Small cut? Tori, you’re going to need stitches.”

Kyree took off the bandana and the bandages to see the huge cut on the side of my arm.

“f**k you Erik, snitch.”

He threw his hands up and chuckled. Kyree looked closer at the wound.

“Did you burn it shut?”

“With energy, yeah.”

He shook his head at me.

“That can cause damage.”

“I’ll get it properly healed but for right now, this will do.”

He shook his head at me then Daniel cleared his throat.

“Let’s get somewhere for the night and figure out a plan for the next week.”

“Week? Daniel, we need to get back soon.”

“We have enough supplies for all of us for the next week and a half. We have to find more wolves.”

“For?”

“The Alpha swearing. We need more wolves to form three packs or if we find another Alpha, four.”

They looked at me and Kyree.

“Both of you are Alphas?”

“Yes.”

“Let me get this straight, she’s a Hybrid that’s also an Alpha, mated to another Alpha who is also powerful?”

We looked at each other.

“Y’all are going to have some powerful ass children.”

“And cute.”

The girls giggled together while I smirked at Ky. I put my hair up to show off the full mark and Kyree bit his lip. We grabbed our bags and started walking towards the apartment building that was the closest. We went up to one of the rooms and Daniel kicked the door in. We set our bags down and Daniel turned on the water to the building so we could all shower.

I sat next to Kyree on the floor and he wrapped his arm around my shoulder.

“Why’d they mention kids?”

“It’s a girl thing, Tori. You can’t tell me you’ve never thought about having kids.”

“I have but at the same time, right now is not a good time to be having children, let alone our children.”

“What do you mean?”

“We are a target. We are both powerful Alphas, I’m a f*****g hybrid, and we don’t even know if we are going to live into the next day, let alone raise a child like that.”

“So you don’t want kids?”

“Once everything calms down and we are safe and have stability, yes. I want kids eventually but right now, it’s not a good time.”

He nodded his head then it was my time to shower. I got up and brought my other red uniform into the bathroom with me. I took a really fast five minute shower and got dressed. Once I walked out, Daniel tended to my wound.

“How deep is the cut?”

“Not too bad. I could stitch it together right now but-”

“Someone hand him the medical kit and hand me a shirt.”

Sarah got up and handed me a shirt then handed Daniel the medical kit.

“May I? I have a medical history.”

Daniel took a step back.

“Only reason I was doing it is because she’s a fighter.”

She chuckled then looked at me.

“I can tell.”

I bit down on the shirt and she started sewing me back together. She poured some tequila on my arm and I groaned into the shirt.

“Sorry girl, it would’ve hurt worse if I would’ve warned you.”

She wrapped my arm back up then patted my head.

“All fixed.”

“Pat me like a dog again, you’re losing your arms.”

“If a creature can’t kill me, you can’t.”

Daniel, Erik, and Kyree started laughing hysterically.

“She intimidates the Elders.”

“She threw a different Alpha across a room after waking up from a coma.”

“She didn’t even feel that cut in her arm then proceeded to save our lives from one of the creatures.”

“She started a town to save lives and to create a safe haven for humans.”

Sarah looked at me and I smirked while looking at the ground.

“Okay girl, I see you.”

I started dying laughing then walked over to Kyree. I sat down against the wall and he handed me a joint.

“Where did you find this?”

“We found a weed farm while looking for them. Took some of the product then found a smoke shop four blocks away.”

I started laughing then took a few hits.

“Daniel, charge me.”

I put my block up and he threw some energy at me. I started playing with it in my hand. I made the energy dance in circles in my palm then I killed it. I leaned against Kyrees shoulder then he got up and went to take his shower. Sarah sat next to me.

“When are you going to be in heat?”

“I’m currently in heat.”

“That fast?”

“Well he marked me three days ago.”

“Oh wow.”

I nodded my head and she chuckled.

“You know, you two are going to have the first pup at the base.”

“I’d rather not. I don’t want to have kids right now.”

She nodded her head.

“I feel you. Right now is a horrible time for any of that.”

“What’s going on between you and Daniel?”

“What do you mean?”

“The long looks, the doing whatever you say, all o f that. I peeped it and I can tell that there is something there or there was.”

“There was. Both of our mates were killed during the battle. We confided in each other, hooked up here and there, but it was empty.”

“It doesn’t look empty to me.”

She shook her head then smiled.

“How did you and Kyree meet?”

“Wow, changing the subject on me now?”

“I’m curious!”

I rolled my eyes.

“When all of this very first started, I went to the high school to see what was going on. I saw him there with a bunch of my friends so I kinda adopted him as one of my friends. We took the first shift of watching over everyone together and from there, got closer.”

I smiled thinking about how far we have come.

“Hows the s*x?”

I stared at her and one of the other girls overheard the question.

“Honestly I’m a little curious too.”

“I’m not telling you guys about our s*x life.”

Kyree came walking out of the bathroom and looked at me.

“Why not?”

“Cause it’s not their business what we do.”

He walked over to me and helped me to my feet. He turned me around and pressed his print against my ass which shocked me.

“Ky.”

“Yes?”

He wrapped his arms around me and Sarah giggled and smirked at us.

“You better answer the man!”

I shook my ass against him then took a step away from him.

“Nah, come here.”

He threw me over his shoulder and took me to a separate apartment and locked the door.

“You think you're going to get away with that?”

“You started it.”

He chuckled then sat me down on the couch.

“We are f*****g in every room in this apartment then we are going to go back there and you are going to show them just how good this d**k is.”

He pinned me down and started kissing my neck, around my mark, then lightly bit my mark. He undid his pants then untucked my shirt.

“I can’t- stop.”

He got up and looked at me.

“What’s wrong?”

“I’m not comfortable doing it like this.”

He looked confused.

“You mean not in a bed or in the shower?”

“No, I’m fine with doing it in other places. I’m not okay with doing it while we are on a mission.”

“You’re in heat. Us having s*x while being out here is excused because we are supposed to be in bed having s*x every waking moment but instead we are out here helping people.”

“That’s my point Ky. We are out here to help people, not just have s*x. I’m not that kind of girl.”

“I never thought you were Tori. But at the same time, I can feel your heat right now and it’s doing nothing but driving me crazy.”

I shook my head.

“I’m not horny though.”

“You will be very soon so we might as well get rid of it now because the moment you’re alone with one of these males, they are going to be worse than me.”

He looked me in the eyes and I could see that he needed me right now.

“Are you sure that I’m the one in heat or is it you?”

He chuckled then picked me up. I wrapped my legs around his waist as he carried me to the bedroom. We went a few rounds then we rushed to get dressed and went back to the group. Sarah looked at us and chuckled.

“Have fun?”

“Shut up.”

I sat next to her and she shook her head.

“You smell like sex.”

“Well I’m in heat right now, and my mate is with me, so you can figure out the rest.”

She giggled and I leaned against the wall. She handed me the blunt that they were passing around and I took a few hits then handed it to Kyree. We passed it around the room and I was ready to go to sleep.

“Y'all do this every time?”

“Nah but right now, we all need something to calm us down and put us to sleep.”

I nodded my head then looked at Kyree.

“I’m ready for sleep.”

“Okay mamas.”

We went over to his bag and pulled out the sleeping bag. We set it up and he got in then I got in and he wrapped me around him. I fell asleep while I was lying on top of him and he was rubbing my back. He woke me up then we started packing our things up. I took out a few waters and drank them fast then ate a protein bar before we left.

We walked down the stairs and started stretching before we started making our groups.

“Now that we have a group of fifteen, we can do five groups of three people to walk through all of chicago.”

“Daniel, do we have enough time?”

“We have five days. We will all meet back at the main highway and walk to the plane as a group.”

We nodded our heads.

“In each group we need at least one person that knows the area, a wolf, and a witch.”

Kyree and I partnered together with Erik because he was a witch. Daniel walked up to us.

“Since the two of you are mates and she’s in heat, I’m not mad at you partnering together. Just keep the s****l stuff to a minimum.”

I rolled my eyes then the three of us started walking. We walked through a neighborhood and Erik saw something move. He raised his gun and I took the lead. We walked over to what he saw and it was a dog. I threw it a chunk of a protein bar and it slowly walked up to me.

“Hey buddy.”

I rubbed his head and poured some water into my hand.

“Tori, we can’t save every animal we find.”

“I’m not abandoning him.”

He licked my cheep and I slapped the side of my thigh telling it to follow me. We walked a few more blocks and he kept following me. We found a pet store so I walked in and grabbed him a harness, leash, and some other dog things. I saw a name tag and I smiled.

“How do you like the name Axl?”

I connected it to his harness and clicked on his leash. We walked out and I looked very happy and proud while Kyree and Erik shook their heads. We walked a while longer before I noticed that it was starting to get dark outside.

“Let’s find a house to camp in for the night.”

They nodded their heads then Erik found us a small house and kicked in the door. We swept the place then set up. I went through the kitchen and found a can of corn, instant potatoes, and some hotdogs so I made the three of us some dinner and used the leftovers and the hotdogs to feed Axl. I set it in a bowl on the floor for him with some water.

“Tori, don’t grow attached to the dog.”

“I’m not leaving him. He’s coming with us back to the base and y’all can fight me over this.”

“It’s a dog.”

“Aren’t you one too?”

Kyree glared at me and shook his head. Erik chuckled from the couch then shouted to us, “You’re being replaced my boy.”

“Shut the hell up Erik.The only dog here is you.”

“I’m a warlock, not a wolf. That’s you homie.”

He came back to the kitchen then smiled at me.

“The food was good, thank you.”

I nodded my head then finished my food. I walked to the bedroom and Axl came with me then Kyree walked in.

“Can we at least give him a bath before he tries sleeping in bed with us?”

I laughed then went to the kitchen. I grabbed the dish soap and walked into the bathroom then turned the water on. He came to the bathroom then I scooped him up and put him in the tub. I gently ran the water over his coat and washed him. He gave me sad eyes the whole time and I couldn’t help but to smile at him.

“It’s okay baby. You’re being such a good boy.”

Erik and Kyree stood there watching me wash him then Erik started laughing.

“I bet she talks to you like that too.”

Kyree turned and swung at Erik.

“Enough with the wolf jokes man.”

“Do the two of you know each other or something?”

“We went to school together.”

I nodded my head then I finished washing Axl.

“Towel please.”

Kyree handed me a towel and I dried him off. Once we were done, I shut the door and took a shower while the two of them entertained themselves with Axl. Once I got out of the shower, I put on a forest green tank top, different military pants, and my socks. I walked out of the bathroom and saw Axl knocked out on their laps with them petting him. I walked up to them and Axl shot up.

“So who doesn’t want the dog anymore?”

“He’s growing on us.”

I chuckled then walked to the room. Axl came with me because he liked me the most then Kyree took a shower. I laid on the bed with my back facing the majority of the bed so Kyree had enough room to get in. Axl was stretched out in front of me getting petted. Kyree came out after a few minutes and got dressed in the room.

He got in bed and held me while we slept. I fell asleep a few minutes after Kyree did, then Axl calmed down and fell asleep by our feet. Once I felt the morning sun hitting my face, I woke up and made something really fast for Axl to eat then finished getting ready. I woke up the guys and put the harness on Axl with his leash.

We walked around for a while then I felt Axl tug on his leash. I looked where he was looking and I saw a creature.

“Erik, sixty feet ahead of us on the right.”

“How’d you hear that?”

“Axl did. He tugged on his leash so I looked at what he was seeing.”

He nodded his head then petted Axl's head then went after the creature. Kyree, Axl, and I kept walking ahead then once it was dead, Erik walked up to us.

“Maybe we can train him to be a creature spotter.”

“That would be useful.”

“You think we can train Kyree-”

Before he could finish his sentence, Kyree was already chasing him down the street to hit him. Once they realised that I was far behind them, they came back up to me and looked nervous.

“You two done or do I have to knock some heads together?”

“We’re done if he stops making wolf jokes.”

“I’ll stop when he apologizes for taking my spot on the football team.”

“That was three years ago.”

“And it hurts to this day.”

He fake sniffled and acted as if he was about to start crying.

“Jesus Kyree, just say you’re sorry so he stops acting like a four year old.”

He rolled his eyes.

“I’m sorry for stealing your spot on the football team three years ago when we were freshmen.”

Erik looked at Kyree and nodded his head..

“I accept.”

I rolled my eyes and kept walking. I looked at Axl.

“They’re weirdos, aren’t they buddy?”

He looked happy walking next to me, with his tail wagging side to side. We cleared our areas then started heading towards Sarah's groups section of Chicago then Axl started growling. I saw what he was looking at and it was them.

“It’s okay buddy.”

I started jogging towards Sarah with Axl and she looked shocked.

“Tori!”

She gave me a hug then looked at Axl.

“Who’s this?”

“This is Axl. I found him in an alley and he’s my new friend.”

She chuckled then rubbed his head.

“He’s a german shepherd, right?”

“Yep.”

She nodded her head then we all started walking together.

“How’d y’all get done so fast?”

“Well we took turns searching buildings and separated a few times to get a whole block done in thirty minutes so we cleared all of our stuff in the two days.”

She chuckled then looked around.

“This is our last area before we are done too.”

I nodded my head then Axl started growling. I looked up and saw a few creatures coming our way. They guys went up to them and used their powers instead of their guns but I recognized the energy from one of them.

“Don’t kill the one on the far left!”

I walked up and it looked at me. It started crawling towards me and I could tell it knew who I was.

“I know you.”

It nodded its head down.

“I can help, I think.”

It looked me in my eyes but I couldn’t see it’s eyes.

“You’re human.”

It tucked it’s head down again. The group stood there watching me.

“No one attack, this one is good.”

They went to say something but I put a wall around the two of us.

“I need you to trust me.”

It closed its head all the way and I could see it’s full form, it was male.

“Dominate hand please.”

It held out it’s right hand and I grabbed it. I started shocking it and it collapsed to the ground, slowly dying. Once I was dead I shocked it a few more times trying to restart it’s heartbeat.

“Don’t you dare give up on me.”

It woke back up in it’s human form and I knew exactly who it was. I broke down the wall and threw a shirt over his private area.

“Tori?”

“Chris.”

He looked me in the eyes and studied me.

“How did you-”

“Let’s not talk about that. Someone bring him some clothes!”

Erik brought over a shirt and a pair of pants because they were the same size. Sarah was holding onto Axl’s leash and I saw the look on Kyrees face. Once Chris was dressed, he gave me a hug.

“Thank you.”

“I knew that you were familiar.”

“I could tell by the way that you protected me.”

He pulled away then Kyree walked up.

“Who’s that?”

“This is Christian, my best friend.”

Sarah finally walked up with everyone else.

“How’d you do that?”

“I killed him in the creature and waited for him to be in the changing state of death to bring him back to life as a human. I didn’t know if it’d work, but it did.”

We walked for a little while and found a*****e with some shoes and other things that he was going to need. Sarah got Daniel on the Walkie Talkie and told them to get to us with everyone else.

“So Tori, what’ve you been up to?”

“Well, I'm supernatural.”

“I could tell. When you’re in that form, you can see who has DNA like us or is just supernatural because they glow.”

“And the guy who walked up to us, he’s my boyfriend. Well, he’s my soulmate.”

“Heard that before.”

I slapped him then we laughed.

“He’s my actual soulmate.”

“I can tell. The two of you are very protective over each other.”

“Yeah.”

He smiled at me.

“Do you have any food? I haven’t eaten in almost a week.”

“Yeah.”

I handed him a few protein bars and a few waters.

“I haven’t killed people if that’s what you’re thinking. I’ve only been killing animals because I can’t kill a person.”

I nodded my head then looked at the group.

“He’s coming with us, right?”

“Obviously. We have to figure out information about the creatures and how we can avoid killing them but instead turn them back to humans.”

“Not all were human. Some were created and turned us.”

I looked at him.

“How’d you get turned?”

“I was attacked in my own house. It killed my family then turned me. Tried recruiting me to be one of it’s pack members.”

I heard a bunch of footsteps running and saw Daniel there with everyone else.

“Everyone leave.”
