Chapter 3: Mate

He also dropped a parcel on the table, he pointed a finger at it “you will need this” he said, and walked towards the door, patting Luciana's shoulder.

“You don't have to be nervous” he cheered her up, before leaving with his right-hand man, Anthony.

When they were out of the apartment, descending the staircase, they started talking

“Derek, do you think this is a good idea? For years, we have never allowed her into the mate bonding ceremony, and we are suddenly changing our mind, what if she is bonded with a powerful wolf?”

Derek shrugged his shoulders, “what does that have to do with me?” he reposted, and chuckled.

A thought crossed his mind, and his face twitched several times, “it will be interesting if it is Lucas” he chimed in.

The two of them started laughing loudly, in the open street, passers-by turned to them and gave them indescribable looks.

But, they never mind, they were caught in the euphoria of their wishful thinking.

Lucas watched with an unfathomable facial expression when Daniel reported a matter of discipline concerning two members, who fought over a girl.

He reclined on the chair, “did any one of them die?” he inquired curiously.

Daniel taken by surprise by the question sighed with resignation, “no, but the girl is just a human” he informed him.

“Bring the both of them and the girl” he instructed Daniel.

When Daniel left, he started thinking, that he has been attending the mate bonding ritual, but he has never been able to identify his mate, he wishes it remained that way.

Daniel came back, and his footfalls interrupted his deep thought, “what is it again, Daniel?” he questioned curiously.

“Your uncle is here to see you” Daniel reported.

“Bring him in”

Daniel left, and a middle-aged man came in, his strides were firm and articulated, he stood straight, and he had a prideful aura.

Lucas threw a gaze at him, and retracted, he lazily leaned on the chair feeling bored “Lucas, or should I say Alpha?” he taunted.

Lucas chuckled “Uncle Joe, don't get me angry, I can f**k your new wife, if you don't mind your words” he retorted.

The middle-aged man's face turned ashen, he knew Lucas wasn't bluffing, but he snorted, “Is that all you think about? s*x, s*x, all day?”

His words infuriated Lucas, he knew his uncle hated him, and wish he could die so that his son could become the Alpha of the pack, but all his plans failed like a falling pack of cards.

“Now, you are getting on my nerves” Lucas hollered and slammed the table.

His uncle trembled, sweat trickled down from his hair, his lips parted, and to speak became extremely difficult “Peter is back”

The moment Lucas heard that name, his facial expression darkened, “Oh, is that so? Then scram!!”

Joe didn't delay, he knew Lucas have quite a temper, that could wreak havoc, and he doesn't mind torturing him the entire night.

When Joe left, Lucas's facial expression was sullen, he decided to go out.

After driving around town all by himself, he nearly knocked a girl, he peered from the car “hello, miss, are you alright?” he inquired.

The girl who was almost knocked down by his car turned towards the windscreen and lowered her head immediately, her face heated, and she blushed.

Lucas had the urge of twisting the key in the keyhole and knocking her away with his car, but he suppressed his anger and watched her scurried away.

The corners of his lips twitched, he glanced at the apartment she lived in and whistled.

He arrived at a castle gate, which is in the countryside, with Mark, and Daniel in his company.

Inside the big hall, many people were inside mostly young people, for the mate bonding.

The entrance door opened, and Lucas walked in, he wore a white outfit, he exuded brilliance and power, and his aura was so strong that all eyes were on him.

He stood aloof, his head held high, a face caught his interest “Peter” he mumbled, and the man he called out, raised the wine glass in his hand.

Mark and Daniel followed him from behind.

Luciana opened the door slightly, and entered, looking very nervous, she is even afraid to raise her head and looked at the faces of the people inside.

Few bothered to look at her, she is beautiful, but no one wants a timid mate, so, they retracted their gazes, with disinterest.

Lucas sat leisurely, and a lady, straddled him, holding the glass of wine he sipped from, she leaned towards him.

And the both of them kissed, Luciana saw the scene, and she was stunned, she quickly looked away, and blushed, like she has been caught doing something evil.

“I wish I am your mate, I will keep you all to myself until two days”

Lucas chuckled after hearing lecherous words spoken by the lady, and his hand around her waist tightened.

He leaned towards her ear, “we don't need the bonding thrash to make that happen” he replied and reclined on the chair.

Her eyes widened in shock at first, but before she chuckled, she gave him a light kiss on his lips and alighted from his lap.

Lucas spanked and groped her ass, Peter emerged, “that is not how to treat a woman” he cautioned Lucas.

Lucas looked away and didn't bother replying to his nephew, soon, it was time for the bonding.

Everyone stood on their feet, and the hand of the clock tick, all the lights in the castle turned off.

“Awooo!”

“Awoooo!!”

“Awoooooo!!!”

The howling of wolves rang around the castle, and suddenly the light came on.

“Mate”

Lucas suddenly whispered involuntarily, staring at the beautiful flawless face, natural long eyelids, and thin lips.

He could feel his wolf rearing to pounce on her, and lavish her tender, and smooth body.

Lucas squinted his eyes, and the familiar scent of wolf waft into his nostrils, he scrunched his eyebrows and his face darkened.

“You,” he mumbled, with a sad voice, his heart aching.

“Mate.” his wolf reared, once again.

His face darkened, even Luciana who is in his arms, looked at him blankly, her eyes blinked, and her face flushed.

“Mate”

His wolf reared again, compelling him to mark her, Lucas defiantly growled.

“Silence”

People in the gathering turn around, and looked at Lucas and Luciana who is in his arms, shock registered on their faces, and replaced with a light chuckle.

Lucas c****d his head, and saw Peter, with the most famous female wolf, an A-list celebrity, whose career has been leaping year to year.

And, she is known as the dreaded wolf, her fighting skills, and survival instincts are top-notch.

Lucas's heart twitched painfully, Alpha Derek's eyes flickered with amusement, and he couldn't stop smiling widely.

Slowly, Lucas let go of Luciana whose face flushed with embarrassment, she was expecting his fang to sink in her nape.

Every step he took backwards, made his heartache, and his wolf reared, longing to have Luciana in his arms.

He turned around and quicken his footsteps, he got out of the bouquet hall and slammed the door with reckless abandon.

The tension in the bouquet hall doused, and it was replaced with a roaring of laughter, Luciana lowered her head, she stood nimbly there, without knowing what to do.

She stared at the door, and decided to walk away, Alpha Derek watched keenly, with another person standing beside him.

Another pack Alpha, Jeff, chuckled and glanced at Alpha Derek who have a wide smile on his lips, “don't you think you are going to get her killed? Lucas, look so angry when he left”

Alpha Derek couldn't keep the bubbling laughter in his throat, Lucas's facial expression was worth watching over, and over again.

He laughed very hard, he always teared up before stopping “he knows the rules, he can't kill his beautiful Luna, Lucas is a sensible man”

He chuckled after he finished his words, Alpha Jeff supported him with a nod.

Peter grinned and raised his head high, he couldn't believe he won again, although, Luciana is gorgeous, what is beauty compared to success, strength, worth, and excellence.

He grinned and capture the lips of his unwillingly mate forcefully, he ended the kiss and glared at her “stop wishing, Diana, Lucas will never fall for you, he now has a mate, end your hopeful dreams”

His words carry an undertone of warning, the lady in his arms frowned, “what if I don't?” she reposted.

He smiled coldly, twirled the strand of her hair and leaned forward, “why am I your mate?" he retorted ambiguously.

Luciana stepped out of the hall, she couldn't hear a sound of a roaring engine, she sighed heavily.

The wind whistled, and she could feel the cold night breeze that doesn't affect her at all.

She smiled sadly and looked up, the sky was gloomy, “Miss, I will drive you home” he heard a voice propose behind her.

She turned around and sneaked a peek at the person's face, “thanks, I can manage”

She could walk home, she isn't that weak.

Daniel and Mark chuckled, they know she did come with the taxi, but she won't be able to find any, even if she decided to book, none will be able to come and pick her up here.

Daniel's corners of lips twitched, “you are our mistress, how can we allow you to stand in the dark all by yourself?” he persuaded her

Mark chimed in “Mistress, I am afraid, I won't get my pay, I am so terrified, that your husband my master will beat me up”

Hearing that, Luciana's eyes widened in shock, she nodded timidly, and followed the two of them, they caught into the car and drove away.

They drove into the City, and drop off Luciana at her apartment, Luciana thanked them and walked into her apartment.

“Do you think Lucas will accept her?” Mark inquired curiously.

Daniel shrugged his shoulders, “I doubt if she will survive long to change his mind”

The atmosphere in the car was gloomy, the two of them watched Luciana get into her apartment before they drove.

Lucas paced around the room, he couldn't stop reprimanding his wolf, “useless!” he muttered and clenched his fists.

The vein on his forehead bulged, making him look frightening, soon, Daniel came in “Lucas, you return early” he said cheekily.

Lucas glared at him fiercely, and his lips pursed involuntarily, Lucas grabbed a bottle of vodka and downed the entire content.

“I would rather not have any visitor, hence…”

He barely finished his statement when the door to his room opened, Mark reported humbly “Lucas, Alpha Derek and Alpha Jeff are here to see you”

Lucas's frown deepened, he couldn't disrespect them, he could survive on his own against those packs, but his members won't.

He sighed heavily and slumped on the couch inside his room, he waved his hand, “you can let them in”

Minutes later, Derek's loud voice boomed in the doorway, and his footfalls became light “Lucas, my good friend, the strongest Alpha that ever walked on the surface of Earth” He said with a tone of exaggeration.

Daniel chuckled silently, he left, and while Derek and Jeff entered the room, they saw Lucas and grinned.

“Here you are, you left very early, I was so worried about you, that I have to quickly come here, abandoning my Luna”

Derek couldn't keep his mouth shut at all, he is the happiest, Lucas won't trouble his pack anymore,

Lucas scrunched his eyebrows, “Derek, should I make you shut up or do you want to do so on your own?” he threatened.

Derek smiled widely like he had heard a bad joke, he berated Lucas with righteous indignation, “Is that how you want to treat your father-in-law? What nonsense are you spouting?…”

He slammed the table and stood on his feet looking upset “I have cancelled this marriage, you are not worthy of having a member of my pack” he snorted, put his hands behind him, and waited for Lucas to beg.

Lucas squinted his eyes at him, “Derek, did you bewitch my wolf?" he inquired curiously.
