Chapter 7: The Lycan's extinction

----- Kieran's pov ----- As I entered the mansion with my packmates, I saw the elegant white roses gracing the entrance. My pack house was also the size of this mansion but most of the time I felt like something was missing from it. This mansion was huge but not cold like mine. The white marble floors with grey veins gave the room a note of peacefulness. I turned my gaze and saw a man dressed in black approaching me with the intent of a handshake.  'Greetings, Alpha Kieran of the Crescent Moon pack. Welcome to our pack house sir. I'm Conan, the butler here. Please have a drink until our Alpha is ready. I heard our Alpha is very excited to meet you' he said with a smile.  I nodded and returned the handshake to the man as he left me and headed to some others that just arrived. This is all so neat and formal. I don't like events like these to be honest. I prefer wearing my sports wear and not a suit like all the others here. I hope the Alpha doesn't feel disappointed or offended by my chosen attire. 'Finally, we will meet the mysterious Lightclaw Alpha.' Trion, my wolf, said in a calm voice. 'I was always wondering about his looks. From the messages we exchanged he seemed like a very smart and composed man.' He continued.  'I, too, look forward in meeting him.' I thought. The she-wolves in the room were looking at me playfully while their conversations were centered around me for now. I could hear them whispering about me. Nooooo.. I'm done with other women. I heard the she-wolves whispering about me.  'Oh how tall he is. His black hair and grey eyes suit his cold stare so much!'  'He 's so muscular and what a strong jawline with sharp cheekbones.'  I could no longer concern myself with them when they started gossiping about my choice of clothes. As I did not prefer dressing in formal attire, I chose to wear a black leather jacket, black cargo pants and a loose khaki shirt. I also wore a long black necklace with a gold crescent moon hanging in the middle of my chest. I chose to wear my comfy modern black sports shoes.  I was getting looks from the other Alphas since they knew I was a bachelor and did not find my mate yet. They shouldn't worry tho. I'm not looking for one now. To be honest, I did mind-link my packmates and my beta not to let any woman get close to me. I did experiment with other she-wolves, but I never felt true attraction towards any of them. I was closing my 30s, and my pack still did not have a Luna. My wolf, Trion, always disapproved my s****l adventures with other women but I ignored him until I, too, understood that there was no point in having women when I felt nothing towards them. I soon stopped meeting other females and instead gave them cold stares. I was patiently waiting for my mate, but I was also worried that my mate would scold me for spending my time with others. If one was to scold me, then it would definitely be my mate. Not long after, I smelled a scent of sandalwood mixed with an unknown flower scent and what I think as blueberries coming from the top of the stairs. This was the most delightful scent I smelled. So pure and peaceful. It actually send sparks throughout my body. If I continued like that I would soon be in a daze-like state. I could feel my wolf being mesmerized by the smell and so was I.  When I turned around, I saw a woman standing at the top of the stairs dressed in a deep shade of red with her gold jewelry shining and blinding my eyes. I couldn't help but stare in awe. I swallowed my drink in one go as I was staring at her with my eyes full of lust. For the first time my wolf was left speechless. He always had something to say but it looks like this woman managed to leave us both staring. Her pale skin under the chandelier looked like delicate porcelain. 'Is that a tattoo on her arm?' Trion asked and I nodded.  Her white hair stopped right above her shoulders, highlighting her collarbones. Her eyes were pitch black.  'She looks like a painting' I thought.  The dress was tight enough to show the woman's curves and slim body as I couldn't help myself but to wonder how she would look like naked. I never felt like this. The other women never left me wondering since I was going to look at them naked if I wanted to. But this woman was full of mystery. A sense of wanting to discover everything about her woke up inside of me. As I was staring at her, I tilted my head and took her all in. She's not that tall since she is wearing high heels. Actually, not that tall, but I think she has the perfect height.  'I don't know who she is. I don't know why she is here. But I know that I want her to be next to me' I said and I felt a possessive feeling bubbling inside me.  'Trion. Please tell me. Is she my mate? Is she the one I was waiting for all these years?' I asked hoping that my wolf would clear things out.  'I do not know Kieran. I truly do not know. It should be clear if she was. But this scent and this aura.. I'm confused.' Trion said and we both fell in silence confused in our thoughts. Several minutes passed when I understood there was a commotion around me. I finally came back to reality. Alpha Rollins seemed like he got in a tense argument with the woman when I finally heard the woman claiming she was the Alpha of the pack.  'What a soft yet full of determination voice she has' I thought in my daze.  'What?! The Alpha? Apart from her pretty looks talking like that she sure is brave.' Trion said to my mind. I saw movement to my side and noticed Rollin shifting his arm when my wolf shouted in my mind. 'Go! You need to protect her from this scumbag! GO!'.  'Possessive much?' I asked my wolf playfully ready to play the hero role in the situation and draw the woman's attention to me. I desperately want her to notice me. I found myself facing Rollin. I, of course, managed to calm him down, or more like scare Rollin into submission when I decided to turn around and face the beautiful woman. I started turning with a smirk on my face, ready to comment playfully and even flirt a little in order to calm everyone down and gain her attention. However, as I turned, my smirk disappeared. I was met with the purest white eyes with red pupils and a smile with the longest sharpest pair of canines I ever saw. There was no mistake what she was. I felt her dangerous and dark aura surrounding the room. 'It's a shame to tear such a beautiful dress.' I said with an unstable voice, not sure how I managed to talk from my shock. My legs were feeling numb and I truly wish not to give up on me now or it would be too embarrassing for me. 'Well. If this sentence is our last one before our death, then she surely deserved the compliment.' Trion said feeling the dark and cold aura emanating from the woman. 'It's a shame for women to be underestimated don't you think?' the woman said to me with a cold tone fitting her aura as she stared, to what I felt like, right through my soul. She then proceeded to walk past me. 'At least we are still alive' I said to my wolf in relief.  'She is a Lycan. A female Lycan!' Trion said to me and I widened my eyes in realization. I used to listen from my mother stories about the Lycans when I was still a kid. The Lycans were the first of the werewolf kind. They were considered as the first pure-blooded wolves. The Moon Goddess created them herself. When Lycans started mating with humans, the first werewolves were born in the world. Lycans when shifted were bigger and faster than werewolves Their reflexes were quicker, and their sense smell and hearing were more enhanced than typical werewolves. Their fur was shinier, and they all had pure white eyes with red pupils. Except from their size, their eyes were the key feature that one would look in order to recognize them.  Being created by the Moon Goddess herself, they also had an advantage over power. Lycans always prevailed in a fight against werewolves. Other than their sheer power and strength, they also possessed a certain amount of magic. They could control and read the minds of those that did not have strong willpower. Lycans could also move objects and if trained, they could master telekinesis. Female Lycans had the advantage of mastering one of the elements. Air, fire, water, or earth. The females, being blessed by the Mood Goddess were said to be more ruthless than the male Lycans. When Lycans started mating, werewolves were getting larger in numbers and Lycans slowly decreased even if their life span was triple from the life expectancy of werewolves. Fearing their power, werewolves started scheming against them. They couldn't tolerate Lycans being at the top of the food chain. Many werewolves started voicing their opinion about finding a leverage against Lycans, and as every being in the world, they should too have a weakness. It turned out that Lycans like them, had a weakness to silver. Slowly and steadily werewolves started killing Lycans by first gaining the trust of their mates and then persuading or threatening them with something valuable to them in order to kill them. The Lycans were faced with extinction. The Moon Goddess after witnessing the ruthlessness of her children is said to have kept the Lycans spirits next to her and only gift them to those she thought worthy of such power. I could not believe my eyes. Right here, in front of me, a Lycan was standing. I tried to focus on her and not show any emotion. I heard her talking when I focused my mind on her perfectly pouted lips. 'Thank you for your concern Alpha Kieran. I was looking forward to meet you up close, but it seems we must postpone our talk just for a minute longer.' she said in a low voice as she stopped smiling and walked by my side towards Rollin. I froze to my place as I turned around to see her walking next to me. She knows my name! This woman knows who I am!  'A Lycan can only be an Alpha. A female Lycan as her, of course is not going be in the position of a Luna. Lycans were born to be Alphas. Male or female. ' Trion said and I could hear the respect emanating from his words.  'When a Lycan finds his or her mate, that means the creation of an Alpha couple. Their bond is twice as strong from an Alpha-Luna bond. And that is the reason why a Lycan's bond can never be broken. The betrayed Lycans back then had werewolf mates. That was also their biggest weakness..' Trion said in a sad note. I  was looking dumbfounded at the woman who slowly walked towards Rollin. I stared at her back as I slowly lowered my gaze towards her bum not being able to ignore my lust. I knew the danger was far from over but I really couldn't help myself. Wearing such a tight dress was like inviting my lustful looks. This dress hugs her curves so gracefully. I could stare at her for an eternity. Then with a swift movement I saw the woman's right hand, signaling me to look up as she walked with her back still turned to me. I understood what she meant and smirked knowing that I at least got her attention somehow.  When I looked up, I saw Rollin holding his neck while he was flying mid-air and widened my eyes in surprise.
