CHAPTER 5: AURORA'S FIRST SHIFT

Aurora POV

The final school bell rings and we all fly out of the classrooms and head towards my car. Alex, Jaden and Jeffery have joined us along with Harry and Patrick. They are the sons of Daniel and Dante. Cassandra looks around the parking lot. "What is with the extra security?" She asks. I shrug my shoulders saying "I have no idea but maybe my parents know. Come on." I say to the others. The girls and I get into my car while the boys all get into Alex's car.

I also see that some of the warriors are getting into their cars including Reginald. We drive out of the school parking lot and head back to the packhouse. "Maybe my parents will tell us what the hell is going on." I say as I get out and I head inside with the others right behind me. Reginald and the other warriors are walking around securing the perimeter as usual.

We walk up to my dad's office when we hear some people talking. I know that it is Dad and Cass talking. "Do you think that Sirius knows about Aurora?" Dad asks. "No, because if he did then he would have attacked us by now. " Cass replies. "Okay." Dad says. I have no idea who they are talking about or what this Sirius guy has to do with me. "Though I think that we should still be prepared for an attack. The fact that he slipped up this time, makes me think that we are not out of danger yet." Cass says.

I look back to Cassandra and Sadie. They also have confused looks on their faces. Alex, Jaden and Jeffery soon join us. "What's going on?" Alex asks. "Why are you girls just standing outside the Alpha's office?" Jaden asks. "We heard Dad and Cass talking about a guy named Sirius and that he may attack us." I whisper to them. "Maybe this guy has to do with all these rogue attacks on our packs lately." Jeffery says.

Just then the office door swings open and Dad stands there with a scowl on his face and Cass is standing right behind him. "How long have you all been standing here?" He growls. "I am sorry Dad. We did not mean to snoop around outside your office door but I just wanted to know why you put extra security on pack grounds? Do you think that we will be attacked?" I ask him.

Dad looks at me. "it is just for your protection." Dad says. "Does it have anything to do with this Sirius guy that you were talking about? Why would he want me? I am just an ordinary Alpha Female wolf." I say. Dad looks at me again and then he walks back into his office. "Sit down and tell me what did you guys hear?" Dad says as he goes and sits behind his desk. I walk inside but Cass grabs me by my arms and pulls me closer to him. We let the others walk into Dad's office. Alex walks past us and he rolls his eyes at us.

"Good afternoon beautiful. Let me tell you one thing, you are not just an ordinary Alpha Female wolf." He says as he kisses me on the forehead. I love this feeling that I am getting but I know that I have to compose myself because we are not alone. "How do you know that?" I manage to say. "You will find out soon enough." Cass says as he pulls me into Dad's office and leads me to the couch.

"Are you two done frolicking?" Alex asks and clearly, he is annoyed by us. "Yes. Sorry." I say while Cass chuckles. Cassandra and Sadie are giggling at us. I shoot them all a death glare which quiets them down. "We heard you talking about a guy named Sirius and if he knows about me? What do I have to do with him and why would he want me? Also, we heard that rogues might attack the pack tonight." I say to Dad. Dad thinks for a moment.

"That is not important right now so don't stress about Sirius. But I can say this, we think that the rogues might attack tonight so I want all of you to stay in the packhouse for the rest of the weekend." Dad says. Alex wants to object but Dad raises his finger at him. "No buts Alex. My decision is final. You kids are the future rulers of this Kingdom and I will not put your lives in danger." Dad says as he looks at me. "My Princess I know that you shift tonight for the first time so we will be there with you in the woods, helping you through it." Dad says.

"Thanks Dad." I reply. "Are you nervous?" Cass asks me. "A little but at least all of you will be there with me." I say as I look around the room. "Don't be nervous my Princess." Cass says as he flashes his megawatt smile at me. I smile back at him. "Training starts in 30 minutes. You pups should go and get ready." Dad says as he looks at his wristwatch. Everyone nods and then they start leaving Dad's office, leaving me, Dad and Cass behind.

"I will see you at training my Princess." Cass says. I kiss him on the cheek and I get up and walk towards my Dad. I hug him and I also kiss him on the cheek then I leave Dad's office. I walk up to my room and I get dressed in my combat gear then I make way to the packhouse kitchen to have something to eat. Cassandra and Sadie are already there waiting for me. "If those rogues attack tonight, I can promise you that I will not sit around and do nothing. I will fight them like a warrior." Cassandra says. She is so much like her mother. Always ready to defend the pack in an attack.

"I may not have my wolf yet but my witch powers will come in handy." Sadie says. "You are one powerful witch, in fact, I think that you are the strongest witch that I know. Those rogues won't be a problem to you." I tell her and Cassandra agrees with me. I take an apple and start eating it. Alex, Jaden and Jeffery come walking into the kitchen along with the cousins, Harry and Patrick. Those two are such goofballs. Patrick and Harry sit down next to Sadie. "Hey Sadie, if you are going to practice magic and using fire today, please don't try and burn the packhouse again." Harry says. "Hey, if I remember correctly, that fireball did not go anywhere the packhouse." Sadie sneers at him as she throws him with a banana.

"Jip. It landed right into my small garden." Someone says from behind me. I turn around and I see Grandpa Xavier and Grandma Patricia standing there. "Grandpa, grandma. You are back!" I yell as I jump off my chair and run into their arms. "Hi, sweetheart. We just arrived back from the airport now. We would not miss your birthday!" Grandma Patricia says. "I hope that you have not given your parents a hard time?" Grandpa Xavier says and I roll my eyes. "No, I haven't been giving any trouble." I reply

Alex also comes over to greet them. "Now there is my big, strong grandson." Grandpa Xavier says as he hugs Alex. "Hello, honey." Grandma Patricia says as she hugs Alex. "I am glad that you are alright and back safely Grandpa and Grandma." Alex says.

"I hope there is a hug in there for me too." Someone else says from the door. I look over and I see Grandma Thea and Grandpa Jake also standing there. I run over to them and I give them each a hug. "Grandma Thea, grandpa Jake. I am so happy to see you. I thought that you were only coming tomorrow?" I ask Grandma Thea. "We wanted to surprise you so we came a day early. It was your mom's idea." Grandpa Jake says and I smile at him. "Best pre-birthday gift ever!" I say as I give my grandparents another hug.

"Well, it is about to get better." Another voice says from the doorway. I look and I see Uncle Ale and Aunt Sasha standing there. "Uncle Ale, Aunt Sasha you came early too." I say as I give them each a hug. "Hell's yeah. It's your eighteenth birthday, we would not miss it either." Uncle Ale says as he picks me up and swings me around in the air.

"Hey, where's Max?" I ask. "He is upstairs in his room. He wants to train with you guys today so he is getting ready." Mom says as she enters the kitchen. "Are you happy that everyone is here?" She asks me. "Yes Mom, thank you so much for organizing all of this." I say. "We should head to the training grounds. We don't want Dante and Daniel to be mad at us again for being late." I say to my brother and our friends. We start walking out of the backdoor.

We reach the training grounds with two minutes to spare when Max comes running from behind us. "Aurora, Alex!" He yells as he reaches us. "Hey cousin. You looking good." I say to him. We do the signature handshake that we had since we were pups. "Hey man." Alex says as he and Max give each other a man hug.

"I am so glad that I get to train with pups that are my age for once." Max says. He is just 16 years old but Uncle Ale has him training with the Stone Creek adult warriors. He says because Max is the future Alpha of Stone Creek, he should do training with them because it is more advanced. Max is a great fighter already and he will be an awesome Alpha.

"Welcome future Alpha Max. I am glad that you could join us for our training sessions this weekend." Dante says. "Okay we will start with a 5-kilometer run and then come back here in twenty minutes." Daniel says. We nod and we start running behind Dante and Daniel. After the run, we return to the training grounds where Reginald is waiting for us with some weapons.

Sadie walks over to where her mother, Aunt Sophie, is because they are doing some witch training. "Princess, King Cassius has asked me to tell you that he and your father will not be joining us for training today." Reginald says. "I guess they have work to do." I say a little disappointed.

I choose a pair of Sai weapons. It is what Raphael uses in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. He's my favorite. Dad and Cass got me hooked on that show when I was younger. Mom was always against it. She thought that it was too violent but Dad and Cass ganged up on her so she stopped asking.

Alex chooses a pair of swords. Typical. Just like Leonardo because he is his favorite turtle. Max chooses the dual nunchaku, which is what Michelangelo uses. "Nice." He says. Cassandra chooses a pair of brass knuckles. "Alright, who is ready for a beating?" She asks playfully. Harry and Patrick take the last two weapons on the table which are a pair of Bo Staffs.

"Okay now that everyone is ready, let's get started. You will pair up into groups of two." Dante says.

I pair up with Max.

"Show me what you can do." Max says and I grin at him.

After training, I head back to my room and Cass is waiting for me outside my door. He is scrolling through his phone. "Hey handsome." I say as I approach him. He looks up and smiles at me. "Hey beautiful." He says as he puts his hands on my waist and pulls me closer to him. He kisses me. I struggle to get my keys out of my pocket.

After a few minutes, he pulls away. I finally manage to open the door. I walk into my room with Cass right behind me. "I am going to take a quick shower. Will you wait here for me?" I ask him. "Yes." He says nodding his head. I grab a pair of underwear, shorts and a t-shirt from my closet and I head to my bathroom.

After my shower, I walk out of the bathroom fully dressed. I see Cass laying on my bed and he is watching tv. He looks up and me and then he pats the space next to him. I go and lay down next to him. He pulls me closer to him, making my heart beat faster. "Your dad says that dinner will be ready by 8 tonight and then we will head out to where you will be shifting." Cass whispers to me. I look at the time to see that it is almost 7 pm.

"Why at 8 tonight?" I ask him. "Because all of your family will be there as well." Cass says and I nod. I want to ask him how he feels about me but I decide against it because I do not want to get my hopes up just in case he doesn't turn out to be my mate. Cass and I continue to watch tv in a comfortable silence until we get up to join everyone for dinner.

I decide to throw some old clothes in a bag. Cass takes it from me and he leads me down to the dining room. He puts the bag down on the ground in the foyer before we enter the dining room. Dad, mom, Alex, Uncle Ale, Aunt Sasha and all my grandpas and grandmas there. "Glad that you two could finally join us." Alex says with an annoyed look on his face. "We are not late. We are 5 minutes early." I say as Cass and I take our seats.

We have dinner and we all are having such a great time that we don't even notice the time. I look at my wristwatch. "Shoot. It is almost 23:30 and I shift at midnight." I say as I get up from my chair. Cass and Dad also get up . "We should head out now." Dad says. I nod and I walk to the foyer with Cass and the others behind me. He picks my bag up from the floor and then he takes my hand. We walk out of the packhouse and twenty minutes later, we are in the middle of the woods of Dark Moon Pack.

I walk behind a tree and I get dressed in my old clothes because I know that I will shred them while shifting. I step out from behind the trees and I see that Cassandra and Sadie are also there along with their parents. Mom walks up to me. "How are you feeling?" She asks. "You already know how I feel but I am going to say it anyway. I am nervous." I reply. "I know but I don't want you to be because we are all right here with you." She says. I nod at her and she walks back to where Dad and Cass are.

At exactly midnight I start hearing voices in my head. More than one. I hear two actually and that makes me even more nervous. What if I have two wolves? I think to myself. People would think that I am a freak.

'No you are not a freak and no you don't have two wolves.' Voice number one says. 'Who are you and why am I hearing two voices instead of one.' I reply.

'My name is Lira and I am your wolf.' Voice number one replies. 'Hi Lira. It is so nice to meet you.' I reply.

'My turn.' Voice number two says.

'And who are you?' I ask the second voice.

'My name is Alura. I am your angel.' Voice number two replies.

'My angel..' I start saying but then a sharp pain flows through my body. I can feel my body starting to shift. I fall back onto the ground on all fours.

'Time for me to come out.' Lira says.

Cass runs over to me and he puts his hand on my back. "Just breath and don't think about the pain. Let it go." He says. I nod, closing my eyes and I let go of the pain. After all, it only hurts the first time. Fur starts coming out of my skin and my jaw starts realigning into that of a wolf. As soon as the pain started, it fades away. I open my eyes just to see two huge paws where my hands were a moment ago.

I stand up on all four paws and I see that everyone is staring at me including Cass. "A white wolf! Amazing!" Dad says. "There has never been a white wolf before." Mom says. I try to communicate with them but I can't because I am in wolf form. So I mind link Mom and Dad. 'What do you think about my wolf? Her name is Lira.' I say to them.

'She is beautiful. Aurora is she the only one that has spoken with you?' Mom asks. 'No. Another is being within me. Her name is Alura and she says that she is an angel. Mom, why do I have an angel?' I ask her. 'I can't tell you now but I will tomorrow okay. Everything will be explained to you soon.' Mom says. "Happy birthday Aurora." Mom says out loud. She and Dad are walking over to where I am standing.

Dad hugs me by putting his arm around my huge wolf neck. "Happy birthday my princess." Dad says. Everyone except for Cass congratulates me. I turn towards him and it is only then that I realize there is an amazing smell coming from him. He smells like pineapple and cinnamon. He walks closer to me. He kisses me on my forehead.

'Mate' I hear Lira say. 'What are you sure?' I ask her. 'Yes, I am 100% sure that he is our mate.' She replies. If I could smile now then my smile would from ear to ear. I lick Cass in his face. "I guess your wolf has already informed you that I am your true beloved?" He says and I nod my huge wolf head at him.

'Tell Cass I want to run through the woods with him now.' I say to mom. "She says she wants to run through the woods with you." Mom says to Cass. "Alright then. Are you ready little munchkin?" He asks and I nod.

I take off running with Cass running beside me using his vampire speed. "Damn you are fast for a new wolf."
