Chapter 18
Cody rode to school Tuesday morning with Maria and joked around with Skyler in the locker room. Mr. Gorski assigned him second base, where he watched batters and prayed he wouldn’t have to do anything.
At the top of the second inning, Zack connected with the ball and made it to second.
“Hey,” Zack said.
“Uh, hi.”
“We’re still cool, right, Cody?”
“Yeah,” Cody mumbled.
“Nice. I think you’re really cool. Maybe we should hang out sometime.”
“All right,” Cody said, not sure why. He should have told Zack off, but instead he was practically drooling over him.
