Lolita was blind since she was just a baby. She was unwanted by her father and sister but was love by her soft-hearted mother. When she came of age, she was praised by her beauty and wit despite the lack of education she has. Her sister, Amelia, was envious at her and so that's why she despised her.

Neglecting my own free well is the first thing that I can do for my family. Just like a walking bubble floating in the thin air, vanished and forgotten. I have a responsibility which I know that it would bring me both happiness and grief. A lone tear escape through my eyes as I watch the coffin of my precious mother vanished on the sea of my vision. I remained my stoic face as I held my head up high when murmurings of the people surround me resurface like a sprouting monster plant--- ready to devour its prey. I don’t care! “Lolita..” A strong, cold voice called me in a middle of my despair. I sighed and turned my head on him. His eyes twinkled in tears as I watched him. My father was known to be ruthless and cold-hearted, but as I watch him now, I felt the vulnerability of his emotion. “Father?” I asked him when he remained his eyes watching the little angel beside me quivering for the loss of his grandmother. My son, Menalaus, is now four years old. “Let’s go now.” His voice was cold and lifeless. It makes anyone crumbled to those might hear him but I am not afraid of him. Not anymore. If I only knew that this would be the course of my life, I would not have listened to him even if he was my father. As painful as it is for me, I can’t do anything because if a vile past shall be tackled again, it will stink more. I could not let myself sinked any lower than my father. I sighed. For the last time, I watched my mother’s grave. I whispered in the wind. You are free now.. A few moments later, I walked pass through the relatives of my father and I didn’t choose to even greet them. “Such a disgrace! Lolita should have done better to save her already rotten dignity!” I heard Auntie Tessa murmured to his husband. “If I were Rafael, she’d have been sent straight to the street when I had known she got pregnant at a young age. Another auntie of mine added. I could have turn back my body and face them but I have my son on my arms. I don’t want him to see me bickering with these older pricks. I rolled my eyes as I left the crowd. Their presence makes me p**e in disgust. Hindi ako ganito dati. Kilala ako bilang isang mahinhin na bata at tahimik. But as the year goes by, my experience slowly molded me to be hateful. Holding my son’s hand, I just walked past through them and ignore there bantering. When I looked at my father, I saw him creased his forehead in a stressful manner. He must have heard what’s he’s sister have been whispering. Shit! “And don’t you dare bring that boy in my house again! You should have rather send him to the orphanage or elsewhere!” My father last sentence made me stop on my track. Did he hear his self? With my forehead knotted, I felt the anger on me resurfaced. “M—mommy.” I stopped on my track when my angel called me. I breathed in and bow down my body to face my son. “What is it, darling?” I asked him smoothly inspite the glare that my father has giving us now. His nose crinkled. His eyes watered upon hearing his grandfather merciless shout. s**t! “D---does grandfather hate me?” He asked and snuggled into my neck. His lips were even quivering. I almost cry at the sight. My Menalaus should not have experienced this! He doesn’t deserve this cruel world.  “Of course, no. No, baby.” I then kissed his creamy cheeks. “As long mommy’s here, he can never hurt you.” When I directed my eyes to my father, his angered face was now very evident. He gritted his teeth. You really wanted to bring our family in a laughing stock industry, don’t you?” He spat at me angrily again. My jaw clenched. My heart is already wounded and naïve. I can’t bear another insult especially from him, again. “Huwag mo akong unahan, Papa. I might forget that you are my bloody father.” His eyes widen in shock and anger. “You imbicile! How dare you!” He harshly marched towards me. He raised his hand but before he could slap me, Diego, our butler, already stopped him. My son cried harder on my shoulder but I choose to hush him. I am shaking, not because I am afraid but I am angry. Diego bowed down his head. “Senyor, it will be a scandal if you hurt your daughter in public.” He reminded him. My father gave me a glare. He shoves Diego’s hand and blew a hard breath. “You are---“ I cutted him off. “Stop your sentiments on me, Father.” I glanced at him when we went inside the limousine. “It won’t work.” If only I brought my car, I would have left him with all of these plastic people immediately. “Why can’t you just be like your sister Amelia?!” “Amelia is a b***h….” I trailed off. “And a puppet.” I disapprovingly added. His jaw clenched again. He tilted his head. “I could strangle your neck, if only you were just not my biological daughter. Your very existence is a virus to my whole system.” Shall I be happy then? Can’t you believe it? A father cursing his own child! Likewise, my father. Likewise. We arrived at our mansion without even talking to each other. My son fell asleep during our ride and it was a good thing that my father didn’t insist his foolish arguments again. Our family was known for our trading business. It runs in our bloodline to continue the trading business heritage but only this time now, my father faced a bigger issue. My father hissed when I just walked passed through him. One of these days, he will fire out most of our house helps due to our financial problem. How could a focus man like him… just fall down like this? He was selfish to the point that he neglected his responsibility as a husband and a father. Masiyado siyang nalulong sa kagustuhan niyang maging sakim sa pera. It pains me so much that his greed for power makes everything in our family worst. “Bakit ba hindi mo ako kayang galangin, Lo? May I remind you that I am still your father?” He frustratedly fired at me. Seriously, he’s not done yet? Lucianna, my son’s Spanish nanny, took Menalaus on my shoulder when we reached the mansion’s living room. “Put him on his bed. I’ll be there in a sec.” I smiled at her. Lucianna replied. “Don’t turn your back on me, Lolita. I’m still talking to you.” He shouted at me that makes all the househelps stopped on their chores. “All of you! Out now!” He shouted again to them which they immediately oblige. But I must remain standing for I know I would be expecting a fierce conflict with my father again. Nahinto siya saglit ng dumating si Diego. “Here it is, Senyor.” My father nodded his head. “No, give it to her.” “B-but..” Diego’s eyes widened. Even in his age, he can still do everything like a young lad. “Just do what I’d told you to do, Diego.” Papa’s firmed voice said. Diego then walked hopelessly closer to me and handed me the envelope. My forehead creased as I take it. Without a second thought, I opened it. “What is this?!” I asked in disbelief as I stared at the papers. Bumilis ang t***k ng puso ko. I throw the papers away and faced my father again. “Ano ang mga iyon? Is that one of your punishment for me again? What are those papers?” I gritted my teeth in annoyance and anger. “Calm down, Lolita.” Calm down?  My whole being was shaking and I’m fuming mad because of what I saw. “Explain it to me now.” His expression was now calmed. Good for him though because right now, I am the one who was bothered. “Amelia made a big mistake.” Simula niya. He then motioned Diego to leave us. I frustratedly sighed. “Oh! Come on! Si Amelia na naman!” Napailing ako at hindi makapaniwalang nakatingin sa kanya. “What it has to do with me?” He eyed me closely but he didn’t speak. “She’s gone into playing in the Casino again.” Damn! That bitchy sister of mine doesn’t really know when to stop for being this messed up. “She has many debts and one of her doer was a powerful and ruthless business man, unfortunately. I know that she messed up but we can’t just let her die. They are threatening her already.” He sighed exhaustedly. “I tried everything. I tried using the company’s money to settle the score but it is still not enough.” “So that explains the recession you’ve implemented last week, huh?” Tumango siya. “But I still don’t get the point! “When in fact, it is not my problem to be involve in your exalted daughter mess.” “Kapatid mo pa rin siya, Lolita.” “Ilang ulit mo bang ipapamukha iyan sa akin, Papa? Of course, I knew that fact. Damn it! I shouted. Silence interrupted us. My father was now hopelessly staring at me like he is telling me that I should help him. “I tried borrowing money but still, it won’t count a penny to satisfy him. I already told him that I will settle everything after a month but he’s not making the deal. Not until, he mentioned you.” I arched my brows. “H--him? Who’s him?” I gulped. “Regor Crane.” Father said and didn’t even blink. It was like a bomb to my whole system when he mentioned that name again. Oh God! Not him. No, no. Why him? “S-siya ang pinagkakautangan ni Amelia?” I stuttered. “H—how did it happen? Amelia knows him but… but why?” “Amelia didn’t know that the money came from him, Lolita. He heaved a sigh. “That’s the truth. She just used it without even thinking where the money came from.” “Where is she right now?” I sat hopelessly in the sofa nearby. My knees are now too weak to support my whole body. “She’s now on the run. Even if I wanted to contact her, I can’t. She said it might be better if she didn’t contact us so that Regor can’t trace us, but it’s way too late now. He already knows us. He is more powerful than us, Lo. He can ruin us in just a second.” “Anong gusto mong gawin ko?” I chuckled mockingly at him. “Beg on him? Do his bidding?” Natawa ako ulit na parang baliw. “What am I? A pet?” “We’ve got no choice!” He slaps the wooden table in front of us. What? Paanong wala kaming ibang paraan? I stand again in a hope to remind him that I am still a human and sadly, a daughter to him. “Bakit walang ibang pagpipilian? I asked in disbelief. He just wanted me to accept everything. And the worst, you just wanted me to be a f*****g slave?!” Without a second thought, he reached me and slaps me on my face. It was so hard. My face crumpled because of the impact. The pain immediately spread throughout my face. I’m really thankful that Mama died before you.” Kita ko ang pagtagis ng bagang niya. “How dare y---“ I cutted him off. “I’m done with this family! I will leave this house now and I’ll bring my son with me.” I said at him while my tears continue to flow in my eyes. “Hinding hindi mo ako mapipigilan.” He just wanted me to be a slave. Is he insane? What the hell is wrong with him? My mother just died and we should be grieving until now. He’s hopeless. “Why can’t you sacrifice again, Lo?” I stopped walking to the stair. “It’s not about sacrificing again, father.” I said to him despite the aching of my heart. “Can’t you see? I have my own life. It’s about the thing you called respect which unfortunately, you know very little about.” Nanlulumong kong dagdag. He’s not even sorry that he hurted me. Every day when I’m with him, it feels hell. “Why can’t you sacrifice again like how you sacrifice for your boy?” He insinuated again. Wala!” His jaw clenched. “Menelaus is not---“ I didn’t let him finished his statement. “Don’t you dare!” I marched back down again. Every stride of my feet wears an enormous force. “Don’t you dare say it again!” “Regor will not hurt you. I can assure you that.” He calmly said after he stared at me. I titled my head twice. “Hindi mo alam ang bagay na iyan. Maraming taon na ang lumipas, Papa. He can hurt me whenever he want to.” “Why?! Please, Lo. I don’t know what to do anymore.” “Then, you should better have any idea right now because that’s what your good at.” He choked his head. “I’m sorry, Lo. But Regor’s men are coming here to get you now.” “What?!! How could you do this to me?!” As a cue, lots of armed men barged in to our mansion. My father can’t even react, even our securities can’t handle this whole warriors. They are all big man and I was there, hopelessly staring at them. I don’t know what to do until a tall muscular man who was familiar to me came out of the picture. It was Mocha, Regor’s right hand man. What can I do now? If he will bring me, what about my Menalaus? I can’t leave my son. I will fight even if it means my death. “M-mocha..” I said breathless. His cold eyes bore to me. “Nice seeing you again, Lady Lolita.” His deep baritone voiced lingers through my ears. He glanced at my father. “I’ll get her now, Senyor Rafael.” My eyes widened. “No! What about my son, Papa?” I shouted at my father who was now trembling too. “I will take good care of him, Lo. I promised!” Sigaw niya. “No.” I looked at Mocha but all I could see is his back turning away from us. “Grab her.” He ordered firmly. I wanted to protest but his men already dragged me.
