Michael Mullins: “Michael the Magnificent” (CHAPTER ONE)
“Magical places are always beautiful and deserve to be contemplated. Always stay on the bridge between the visible and the invisible.”
–Paulo Coelho (Author of “The Alchemist”)
Introduction
“Michael waited. He waited for his love and to drink that charismatic yet fruitful magic. The moment of his waiting was almost eternity. He did that because he had read out somewhere that: “Patience always produces something good”.
This story is about a future foreseen Prince of Castleville named Michael Mullins. It is a story of how he achieves his dreams of becoming a magician and how his magic changes the world. This book is also linked to a fictional school of wizardry which will be mentioned after this section of the first chapter.
The later chapters will be about the school and how it captivates its students. There will be witches and there will be wizards.
People always have a thing for magic. They all yearn and long to live in the magical world. They want to create a world of mystery and fantasy. This book will help them deviate and distract themselves from worldly pains.
All of the characters in this novel are purely fictional and the idea is mainly the work of fiction too. Some of the places mentioned in the novel will also be fictional. The places which seem non-fictional have no relation to the real world whatsoever.
Who was Michael?
Michael was the destined prince of Castleville. His father, James Jones, had high hopes of him becoming the future king and leading his father’s mighty and proud kingdom. But Michael was sort of a different person. He was interested in literature, poetry, and worse of all, magic. His father thought of these hobbies as “normal” but the servants who took care of Michael from his birth often found his bed full of magic books and literature stuff.
Many strange things happened during Michael’s upbringing. His mother had died a few days after his birth. It made King James a bit gloomy but his love life remained active, although it was not that public. The king still had not lost his charm during his old age. One of Michael’s helpers, Adams, saw a bolt of dreadful lightning full of sparks come into the bed of Michael which made him vanished and come back again within a flash. It was a horrible experience for him but all of Michael’s slaves did not say a word to the king, out of respect for the prince.
Michael had a sister and two brothers. One of whom had died during a war that was fought against the king’s fiercest enemy. The sister’s name was Elizabeth while the brother who remained with Michael was David. Elizabeth was married to the Duke of Edinburgh and David was in the administrative division and a keen advisor to his great father.
Michael always saw his father as a motivational and inspiring role model. Although keenly interested in magic and supernatural things, Michael was also hoping to fulfill his father’s dream that he becomes the future King. He was 26 at that time. Unlike his father, Michael’s love was not perfectly active. But he had three girlfriends at the moment that he shared his body and soul. But he was still waiting for someone special. His heart got broken after his childhood friend died of a terminal illness. Her name was Angela.
The Royal Park
It’s a long time ago when Michael is just 16 years old. His sixteenth birthday was celebrated a day ago and he had a crush on a girl who was beautiful and body. Her eyes seemed like they came from Heaven. Her smile was more powerful than the King’s whole empire. Michael saw her for the first time and came to know the definition of love. He even wrote poetry for her. He was a keen reader of literature and his father used to hire many literary poets of that time to teach him poetry. He used to skip the archery classes and the official sword fights just to give time to writing. Michael wrote his first poem for Angela:
Oh, gentle British eyes!
They are not but from Heaven!
When I saw you firstly, O beloved!
I did not see you
For I saw the whole world
I saw the magical galaxies
I saw the stars
I saw the Milky Way
If I knew magic
I’d make such a potion
That would intoxicate me
And make me yours, O beloved.
Michael’s POV
What a fine morning this is. This summer season is the best season for me and it was made special because of Angela. I think I should go talk to her. I cannot stop thinking about her since I saw her for the first time. My poetry teacher is coming in a few minutes.
The Wizarding School
There was a wizarding School which was mentioned at the starting of this chapter. The name of its principal is Professor Duncan. Duncan’s personality was very light. His experience in magic was out of this world. He had been in the “Magus” Universe for about fifteen years. The Magus Universe is a Universe in which only experienced and well-proportioned magicians or wizards go.
Just like Michael, Duncan was into literature as well. He had to compile the list of candidates who were to be shortlisted for the interview at the school. “Luck” and “Destiny” had their roles here and luck was destined to be on someone’s side.
Michael was sleeping soundly on his bed and something happened. It was a dream. But the kind of dream is visionary. It was a sort of dream which could be interpreted. It was as if Michael’s soul was controlling itself in the dream. There was a call. Was it a call for something that made Michael curious? What was the dream about? Will Michael be lucky enough to get into the college? Did Michael talk to Angela? Read the next chapter to find out.
