episode 4 - Defeating my first rogue

As always it was that time of year again the 8 day moon goddess festival. Williams manor was home to the largest pack lands in the whole country. The pack house its self could house up to 700 people, and the acres upon acres of private land with converted barns, and camp grounds were big enough to house another 5000 pack members. The main dance hall was a air plane hanger that had been converted into a wonderful and very beautiful community hall. The great oak woods surrounded each one to keep all wolf shifters safe. All the packs would gather here every year to celebrate the moon goddess festival. Jake was going crazy he was so excited, finally getting to see Axel and Luca again. Jake had got a mobile phone for his recent birthday and had been calling and texting, (whatever that was) with Axel and Luca every day without fail. I had noticed that since he got a mobile it had shorted the time we spent together, I felt like slowly I was losing Jake but I guess he couldn’t always be with me. I didn’t want a phone who was I ever going to call and besides Jack had me busy. Training and studying, the two things I looked forward to every day.

I hadn't seen much of Jake the last 4 days, he had been with Axel and Luca and tonight was the day of the 1st mating ball. Jake told me he would come training with me but I knew he wouldn’t, that’s usually what he’d do, he never followed though with what he said he was going to do. It was a beautiful warm day, I walked to Jacks cabin and as it got closer to his cabin, I spotted Jack stood on his side porch, IN A TUX!!

Jacks Cabin was situated about two and half mile away from the Manor, it was on stilts and had a pier that ran into the lake, Jake had a small boat tied up to the small jetty that was attached at the end of the pier, he often used it to go up the lake visiting his friends who lived on Belle Island further up the lake. The Cabin was a two-storey cabin, with French doors on the back facing the river, it had a porch around the whole cabin that would be shelter on rainy nights, and the second floor had a balcony, also facing the river that was attached to the master bedroom, I always love to come here I always felt completely at peace, no Scarlet, no guests, no hurt or pain, just peace, as I got closer to Jake.

“OI JAMES BOND” I shouted laughing.

Jack laughed and smiled at me I walked up the steps to the porch when I got to the top step, Jack got down on one knee, and had a white rose in his hand, I couldn’t stop smiling, it was so sweet but why? I was wide eyed looking at Jack,

“Elisha Ayla Willow, will you do me the honour and dance with me?” Jack asked me oh what a relief it was,

“I would love to Jack but I don't know how to dance” I said, taking me back to the last time I danced.

Flashback

“Come on little one,” my dad said holding his hands out for me take hold of, I ran to him and held his fingers, my hands were too small to hold his whole hand.

“Stand on my feet little one and I will teach you how to dance” he asked me. I stood on his feet and we began dancing, my dad was singing, to me

“I can’t help... falling in love... with... you”

Flashback end

“That was beautiful Leesh, I’m so sorry you can’t have those moments back but if you let me, I can give you a version of it” Jack said, being connected to Jack through our protection bond we could hear, see and feel everything with each other.

“It’s not just a version of happiness Jack; I am that happy with you too” I said making us both smile. I took the rose from his hand and took in its scent as I held it up to my nose it was beautiful,

“I’m going to teach you to dance” he said, I raised an eyebrow

“why do I need to learn to dance Jack?” I asked

“because your foot work is fast but untidy, dancing will help refine it” Jack said, I trusted Jack with everything, so why would I start questioning his training methods now

“Ok Jack let’s do this” I said positively,

“Well, first of all I’m going to get changed this weather is too hot for a tux” he said I giggled as Jake ran, in to the house to change. While Jack was inside, I slowly walked to the end of the boat dock and sat down my legs crossed. I looked around at one of the most beautiful views I had come accustomed to. The sight of Lake Windermere with the vast natural hillside surrounding it. I took in a deep breath, taking in the scents of the forest. Calm and peaceful I looked across to the other side of the Lake and a deer running along the forest floor followed by her baby. The birds were singing, the water overlapped the shore, the sun is shining on the lake as the fish jump and swim through the water, I didn't even notice Jack coming back out.

“Ready kiddo?” Jack said and he walked towards me, I turned and stood up and started walking back to him.

“Yep, I’m ready” I said,

“Ok, so there are many ways to dance ok but the first one I’m going to teach you is the waltz” Jack said.

“ok let’s waltz” I said being optimistic,

“Right so hold your arms out like you're going to give me a hug” I laughed and did as he said.

“Ok, so in dancing you have someone who takes the lead and someone who follows” Jack continued.

“So, the leader which is...”

“ME” I shouted as a Joke, and made Jack burst into laughter.

“Not this time, the leader is usually the man” Jack continued

“Ok so we are going to count it's called a box step, ok?” Jack said, so focused on teaching me.

“ok Jack” I answered

“Good girl so 1... 2... 3... 4...” he counted, I had stumbled a little at first but after a little time of practicing I was finally getting the hang of it. Jack showed me a couple of times without holding me so I could watch his feet. Sometime later, after of hours of going round in a box shape.

“Right ready for the next step?” Jack asked me, I enthusiastically nodded my head; He laughed at my excitement to move on.

“Ok, so start in our box shape but as we go, we turn so we can then move a lot further” he explained

“Ok. Jack I’m ready let’s try it” I said Jack showed me without holding me at first then he waved me over to hold our waltz stance, we began moving around the pier, I was looking at our feet and giggling,

“leesh head up you need to hold yourself proud and strong, hold yourself with confidence” he said I lifted my head trying to be serious but it didn’t work we both ended up laughing and giggling, after what seemed like forever he finally gave up for the day.

“Ok, that’s enough for now, but you practice at home” it was 4 o’clock it was getting on I had been practising all day

“I will I promise” I said. The next we heard was Jakey, we looked across the lake side to see Jake and two boys with him, who I assumed were Axel and Luca, they walked along the pier and met us on land.

“Hey Jake, what's new?” Jack asked Jake

“Hi Jack, nothing much new, these are my friend's, Axel and Luca” he said

“Why master Axel, and master Luca, welcome, it's good to see you again, you both have grown so much, how old are you now?” Jack asked them both, I stood still next to Jack and listened to what was said.

“Hi Jack we are both, 14 now, same as Jake here,” Axel said, Jake finally noticed I was there and introduced me to his friends.

“Axel, Luca this is my baby sister, Leesh” he said, I really wasn’t happy about the way Jake had just forgotten me for Axel and Luca but it was for Jake so I smiled and pushed my hand forward for them to shake my hand, they looked at me then looked away. They didn’t say anything to me, my smile faded. Why were they being so horrible to me? Jake noticed but never said anything.

“Jack I’m going to head back” I said, sadly, Jack felt and seen everything happening in my mind. Jack had seen how I was treated by them both and he knew I just wanted to leave.

“Ok kiddo... hey wait Jake, Axel and Luca will you walk leesh back to the Manor” Jack said, I was so angry at Jack. I didn’t want to spend any more time with them than they wanted to with me.

“It’s ok Jack... I will be fine; I will link you if anything is wrong” I said Axel and Luca looked confused when I said that but they looked relived that I said I would be ok, so they never questioned me and turned away from me.

“No, leesh I won't let you go on your own” Jake said

“Honest, Jake stay here with your friends you don’t have to pretend, I’ll be fine” I said with a hint of anger in my voice, I did regret being so harsh on Jake but he did hurt me, I began to walk off, I had gotten to the edge of the forest when, Jake, Axel and Luca caught up with me,

“I’m fine you don’t have to come back with me” I said frustrated

“puft you need your big brother to protect you, you’re not special, that you need a body guard, you're an orphan” Axel said I turned quick as a flash and looked at him. I wanted to punch him in the face right there and then who was he to say that to me. I know he was the future Alpha but surely an Alpha was to care and protect those he seen as underneath him; this Alpha had a lot to learn then before he became the next leader of his pack. I turned back away from him and ignored his comment. Axel and Luca followed me, Axel grabbed hold of my arm and turned me around, he grabbed hold of my neck and slammed me against the nearest tree.

“You, dare to ignore me Orphan I'm an Alpha’s son” he said Jake came to the side of us “Axel come on man let her go she’s my sister regardless if she’s not blood related” Jake tried to stick up for me.

‘leesh are you ok? What's going on?’ Jack linked me

I kept my link open so he could hear everything that Axel had said to me.

“If you were an Alpha’s son you should be kind to others, no matter how small they are or if there an orphan or not, not treat them with contempt because you don’t like them” I said I looked straight into Axel’s eyes. Whatever he noticed he suddenly relaxed his grasped on me and put me gently on the floor, Luca walked over to us.

“How dare you speak to an alpha like that” Luca said as I stared Luca down.

“He, shouldn’t have hurt me then should he, nor you or him, spoke to me when I offered a hand of friendship, you wouldn’t even say hi to me” I said, luca then grabbed me by the arm as I tried to walk away, I turned to look at him and after a moment luca did the same as Axel relaxed his grip me, I had no idea what was going on but I turned and began to walk away.

‘leesh are you ok?’ Jack linked me.

‘Yeah, I’m ok Jack I will speak later’ I said before closing the link

“Hey leesh wait up” Jake said, as he followed me, I turned and couldn’t see Axel or Luca anymore, the next I smelt something like sewerage it wasn’t very strong to begin with but then it got stronger it was foul,

“rogues” I said

“Jake go, get help now” he looked at me

“leesh what is it” he asked me

“NOW JAKE!” I shouted and ran back towards where we had just walked from, I linked Jack ‘Jack rogues there following us’

‘I’ll be right there, don’t shift leesh if you can help it’ Jack said I heard yelling and screams from the direction of Axel and Luca, I ran back to them, as I got closer, a rogue wolf had Axel by his neck.

“PUT ME DOWN!!! LET ME GO” Axel was shouting at the top of his lungs. This was the first Rogue I had seen, but Jack had taught me all about them.

The foul-smelling scent is the first thing any pack wolf notices, it comes from them not belonging to a pack, his fur was black and white dirty and matted hair from mud and tree sap. Pieces of his hair were missing from its back and legs similar to a dog with mange and he was soaked to the skin. When any wolf becomes a rogue a dark shadow latches onto them making them heavy with negativity. The Rogue had raw wounds in different parts of his body that wept and bled, his teeth were black as he bared his teeth to growl at me, tar like drool escaped his mouth and dropped to the ground in front of him, his eyes were nothing like I had ever seen before bright red full of anger almost animal like, as if no human spirit had ever existed in him. Rogues almost become wild animals from the hatred that consumes them. Most act before taking in what's happening in front of them which is why most Rogue attacks are so ferocious. I ran towards the rogue, I jumped and hit the rogue in the face causing him to drop Axel and become disoriented for a moment when he turned around and was focused. I was stood in front of Axel and Luca, in a defence stance protecting them.

“WHAT ARE YOU DOING ORPHAN?!’ Axel said trying to push in front of me, and having no success.

“Saving your pathetic ass” I said as I stood in front of them,

“YOU’LL NEVER WIN” luca said, doubting me and making sure I had heard him, neither of them knew anything about me and had cruelly judged me before even giving me a chance I turned to both of them

“Don’t judge me by your own standards” I said before, turning to face the rogue again, I kept my eyes firmly on the rogue in front of me, he ran towards me and I ran towards him. I jumped over him, he turned and growled, I ran into the forest and the rogue followed me away from Axel and Luca. Which was my intention, we came to a clearing. Jack was nearly with us I could feel him with me, the rogue attacked me again. Axel and Luca had been stubborn and stupid and had caught my attention they had followed me and the rogue into the woods. What idiots why did they follow us. I didn’t move out of the way in time and the rogue caught me in the stomach and arm. I didn't feel much of the pain at the time. The rogue noticed Axel and Luca again and he began walking towards them. I jumped over his head and stood, in a fighting stance, between the rogue and the boys.

‘You can’t shift leesh’ Mimmo said

‘I know mi I just have to get him away from them’ I said, I didn't want to change into my drawolf not unless I had to. I pushed the Rogue away but Axel was hurt from when the Rogue dropped him on the floor. Luca was trying not to leave him alone.

“MOVE ORPHAN WE GOT THIS!!” Axel shouted, I couldn’t take it anymore.

“AXEL, LUCA MOVE NOW GO!!!” I shouted, as the rogue moved towards the boys to attack them again. I didn’t have any other choice he was going for Axel and Luca because of their stupidity I was now having to make myself vulnerable. I shifted into my Drawolf, I growled, it was so loud it shook the forest floor, the animals scattered in fear. My wings were elongated I stood firm in my place in front of Axel and Luca. They had both fallen over and were looking up at the scene in front of them. They gasped at the shock of seeing me shift, the rogue gained his balance and ran to me. I pushed him away with my paw and grabbed him with my mouth I bit down into his neck, I tasted blood the rogue yelped, I threw the rogue away he landed in a heap on the floor. The Rogue got back up and began to give it one last run at me but before he got to me Jack burst through the forest and tumbled him to the ground, he ripped his neck out before he could do anymore harm, the lifeless corpse of the rogue laid on the floor, Jack shifted back, he walked to me, I could feel how angry he was at me.

“LEESH I TOLD YOU NOT TO SHIFT,” Jack shouted at me, I lowered my head down and began to shift back to my human form. Axel and luca were looking at me their mouths agape. Jack was naked, he pulled some shorts from underneath a bush near to where we were standing, I shifted back I had managed to shift and keep my body covered in some areas, well as covered as I could be. The hoodie Jake had given me was ruined. I was covered in blood and had wounds across my stomach and arm that were bad. Being back in my human form I winced as I moved, I took my hoodie off revealing my sports bra so I was still covered at least, I tied my hoodie around my waist and ripped a piece off for my arm, Jack helped me tie it.

“Jack the rogue had Axel in his hand I couldn’t let him hurt him,” I said. Axel and Luca both walked up to me, and Jack,

“leesh is right” Axel defended me; I was completely stunned Axel had stuck up for me but he did.

“Jack, he had hold of me if she hadn't have come back, I would be dead” Axel said, defending me. Jack heard shouting and voices coming from a short distance away,

“leesh go now, we will talk later ok” he said

I didn't even look at Axel or Luca I just left. I ran straight back to my room at the Manor and stayed there the rest of the day, I never saw any more of Jake, Axel or Luca that week. Which I was glad of thanks to those idiots I got the worst telling off in history from Jack, Anna and Billy it was awful. They did see my point at how I had no choice but I still shouldn’t have done it. Axel and Luca both didn't like me and if they wanted to, they could make my life a living hell something else I didn’t want to have to deal with was anymore bullying I already had enough with scarlet. So, I put my efforts into training and studying, I had taken a few peaks out into the back garden when I heard the boys playing outside. I had no idea if they kept my secret or not, but I guess if scarlet wasn’t up here nor anyone else for that matter, I was safe. I was up in my room after training, I sat on roof after climbing out on the balcony, to get some fresh air I often did it to make myself feel better.

“LEESH!?” Jake shouted

“Go away Jake,” I said back

“Come on leesh, I know I haven't been to see you but please” he pleaded with me.

“NO! Go away you promised me, and you broke your promise I saved your stupid friends and I still got punished for it” I said, Jake came out on to the balcony and moved so I could see him from the balcony. I looked at him, I was so disappointed in him he promised he would stay with me and he didn’t he dropped me the first time he got friends.

“Come, on leesh, there’s someone here to see you” he said

“No Jake” I said

“Come, on Leesh please it’s worth it I promise” I huffed

“Fine” Jake walked into the room and I jumped on to the balcony. I was dressed in my sports bra and still bandaged up around my stomach and my arm. It was the bad side to being young and fighting fully grown wolf shifters. My wounds from a fully grown wolf shifter were going to take a while to heal. I walked through the door, I was looking at Jake, when my eye caught, Axel and Luca, I rolled my eyes,

“Oh, no way ... Jake, get out and take them two with you,” I said, annoyed I had been ambushed by the 3 of them. Axel moved towards me his palms facing forward, as a sign to say he comes in peace.

“Leesh. please just let us talk to you then we promise we will leave you alone if you still want us to” Axel said, I looked at him and for once I seen a side of him I so far hadn’t seen, which was genuine care.

“fine” I said and I sat down on the top step that led to the balcony

“Leesh, we are really sorry we were nasty to you; we had no right to be horrible just because you were a girl or because we thought you were weak, we judged you before even knowing who you were and you were right. I hope you can forgive us and we know it doesn’t make up for anything but we want you to have this for your birthday” Axel said as he pulled out a small grey box, with a white bow on the top. Axel took a step forward, and he held his hand out. I hesitated at first then slowly reached out and gently took the box from his hand, they all watched with smiles on their faces as I lifted the lid and found inside a beautiful silver necklace, with a crescent moon pendant on it. I was stunned by the gesture, my hand moved over my mouth as I looked at them, then back at the necklace, I removed my hand from my mouth, I was so shocked. It was the most beautiful thing I had ever been given and I knew I would cherish it.

“Thank you so much” I said, tears slowly falling down my cheeks.

“You're welcome leesh it’s the least we could do you saved our lives that day and we both haven't stopped thinking about you since” Luca said, smiling at me. But I couldn’t help but be frightened they would tell someone about what I was.

“Please keep my secret, if anyone found out about me being a Drawolf they’d hurt me and never leave me alone” I pleaded with them.

“Of, course we will, no one will ever know about what or who you are” Axel said.

“Then that’s all I could ever want, thank you so much for the necklace but I can’t accept it, it's too much for you to buy me something that expensive” I said

“Leesh please take it, no matter what happens we will keep your secret but please keep the gift think of it, a birthday present” Luca said and they both smiled at me

“Ok ... how did... you know?” I said confused. Then realising Jake told them.

“Here let me help you put it on” Axel said,

I turned and tried to reach up but my ribs hurt, Luca walked over to me,

“Here I’ll help too” Luca said, he gently lifted my hair up and Axel put the necklace on, I turned around to face them again, I gently touched it on my chest and I smiled at them, they smiled back.

“Leesh I have something for you please forgive me, I’ve been helping Axel and Luca with this gift that’s why I haven't been here for you the last few days. I’m sorry you were right I broke a promise and I’m so sorry” Jake said I looked at him he handed me a brown package; I opened it up and there in the brown paper was a grey hoodie similar to the one I had ripped when I was fighting the rogue. I put it on and it smelt of pine, raspberries and chocolate, it made me feel so at ease, I cuddled into it, it was a way too big but I loved it, it felt like a bear was giving me a hug,

“Are we forgiven yet?” Jake asked

“Yeah, I guess you’re all forgiven, thank you so much, I love them both I will cherish them” I said to them

“Look, leesh we better get back downstairs before we are missed but I’ll come up later ok and see you” Jake said

“Yeah, sure it’s ok I will see you all later I hope I see you before you go” I said

“Yeah, we will see you before we go home” Axel said

“Good” as I smiled, they all began to leave my room, I smiled and wave at them all as they left, I walked over to my bed and laid down, I began to fall asleep. I fell asleep, snuggled up in my new hoodie, it felt good to finally have the drama subside and die down, after a few moments I finally succumb to sleep and had the best night sleep I’d had in a long time....
