Finding Love

Chapter four

Daria’s pov

I wake up to the sound of machines. I have no idea where I am. Or how I got here for that matter. I really hope they haven’t found me. I try to get up and that’s when I hear his voice. Woah, take it easy. I look up to see the guy I saw at school. The godly looking man.

Hi Daria my name is Daemon. I found you hurt by the waterfall so I brought you here. To the hospital. Where’s here? I ask him. My voice sounds real raspy. How long have I been out? You’ve been out for five days. Your body really needed the rest. It needed time to heal.

I lay back down. My head is pounding. I tell him. I’ll go get the doctor. Give me one minute. He walks out the room leaving me there alone. Why would he help me? He doesn’t even know me. The door opens again. This time he walks in with the doctor.

Hello sweetie. It’s nice to see if your awake. My name is Dr.Greene. Is it okay if I check you. Yes it’s okay. She come and starts checking my vitals. Listening to my chest. Reading the machine. If it’s okay with you. I’d like to run a few more test. Just to make sure everything is running smoothly.

Im fine with that doc. The doctor leaves the room. Leaving me alone with Daemon again. Daria I know you might be uncomfortable. But I swear to you. No harm will come to you while your here. That’s impossible. They always find me. No matter what. I won’t be safe here.

I know you don’t believe me right now. But I swear to you. No one will get you here. I don’t know why but I get the feeling that I could trust him. You have the most beautiful eyes. You know that? I couldn’t help it. I knew he saw how red my face was from his compliment. Just then someone knocks. Come in. Daemon says.

I see a girl coming in the room. When I see her face. I realized it’s the girl from school. Hi Daria, I’m glad to see you awake now. You have us a scare there. I’ve survived much worse. That wasn’t going to kill me. I just needed some rest. She looks at Daemon than back to me.

Am I going to be a prisoner here too? Of course not. Daemon says to me. It gives me some relief but not completely. I don’t want to get you guys in trouble. You’ve helped me enough. Jim and Peter will come looking for me soon. So it’s best i go. I try to get up from the bed. My body is so weak that it wouldn’t let me.

Please don’t try to get up yet. Let the doctor come back and run the test. Then we’ll see what he says about you getting up. Trust me Daria. It doesn’t matter who comes. No one is going to get you. Your causing us no trouble. Just rest and heal.

Kimmy shakes her head in agreement. I lay back down not really having a choice. There’s a knock than the door opens. Dr.Greene is back. Hi kimmy, it’s nice to see you here. Kimmy just shakes her head. It’s like there having a private conversation. Daria I’m going to draw some blood from you. For some test. We’ll wait for the results to come back than talk. She’s comes to me and I stick out my arm. She has a little tray with the tools that she needs. This might hurt a pinch, okay.

I just nod my head. She cleans my arm than sticks the needle in. It doesn’t really bother me. I’ve been through worse.I don’t say that though. At least not out loud. She takes about three bottles of blood. The puts a band aid. My other hand has an i.v in it. So she doesn’t bother it.I’ll be back when I have the results. She takes her tray and walk out.

I’m going to go as well. I’ll be back later to see how your doing okay. Kimmy says. I nod to her as well. She smiles and leaves. Why are these people so nice to me. They don’t even know me. I look at Daemon. Who happens to be looking at me. Is everything alright? I should be asking you that. I know you don’t know me very well. But do you mind having a personal conversation with me?

Uh oh… he’s going to ask what happened to me. I mean this is the longest I haven’t been found. Maybe I can have a life here. Be protected by them. Sure no problem. I reply to him. I want to ask you some questions. Is that okay? Sure go ahead ask me.

What happened to you? You were beat pretty badly. Almost dead to be honest. Does that happen often to you? I got beaten and yes that has happened to me before. I say with my head down. Not being able to face him. I picked up my head quickly. When I thought I heard a growl.

He shakes his head than looks at me again. How long were you with that family? For as long as I can remember. Which is basically my whole life. Ms. Gomez adopted me when I was very young. What a minute. Your not a froster child? Yea and no I mean I was in the system. Than she adopted me and I was out. Do you want to go back Daria? I didn’t expect him to ask me that. No one ever cares about what I want. No I don’t. I answer him honestly.

I can protect you if you want to stay. I promise to always protect you Daria. No one will ever lay their nasty hands on you again.

I look at this man with pure shock on my face. He just promised to protect me. He doesn’t even know me. It kind of sounded like he was professing his love to me. I couldn’t find the right words to say. I stood there with my mouth open. Looking like a fool.

Whose Jim and peter? Now that’s a question I can answer. Those are the cops who always find me. Peter says I can never run away from him. He has my scent and that’s why he always finds me. Jim is just his stupid partner. He never knows what’s going on. Have they ever hurt you? Jim and Peter? Yea and now. It’s never been anything horrible. They twisted my arms once or twice. As well as kicking but nothing else.

We both stay quiet for a couple of seconds. Can I ask you something? You can ask me anything you want? I can’t help but blush at his words. Why do you want to help me so much? I’m helping you because I think it’s the right thing to do. I don’t know if I’m relieved or disappointed. I wanted him to say because he liked me. Even though he said the right thing. I tried to hide my emotions in my face. I honestly don’t know if I managed too.

Can I ask what your full name is? It’s Daria Smith. Although I don’t know if that’s really my name. It’s just the one I know about. When’s your birthday? Did they tell you that? It’s April seventh. That’s great it’s in three weeks. What are your plans?

I don’t have plans. Never did. I’ve never celebrated my birthday before. I don’t think I ever will. None sense you have to celebrate your birthday. I don’t think so. Okay so what do you feel like your name should be? Violet. It’s a name I’ve always dreamt of. Like literally. Someone with blue eyes always calls me that in my dreams. I would love for that to be my name. Someone calls you that in your dreams? Yeah, it’s only in my dreams.

I never see the persons face only the eyes. They’re blue eyes. They call me violet over and over again. I’ve heard it my whole life. I’ve always loved it. That’s amazing and a very beautiful name. Maybe one day you can change it. I’ve thought about that. You know that cost a lot of money. So unless I become rich. I don’t think it would happen. It’s a nice dream though.

Don’t give up just yet. Your still young and have your whole life ahead of you. I do for now at least. Until they came back and get me. Than my life is over again. I’m sorry I’m getting tired now. Is it okay if I lay down? Is it possible to wait another five minutes. Your food should be here soon. You need to eat something solid. You’ve got a lot of meds in your body. I’m sure the hospital won’t mind giving me food later. This is not hospital food. I’ve ordered it from somewhere. Please try to stay up a little longer. Right than someone knocks on the door.

Than they enter the room. As soon as that door opened and that smell hit my nose. It was so great. My stomach growled letting me know. It wanted what ever food was in there. Daemon get up and puts the cart next to me. All the e food is covered by lids so I can’t see what’s in them. He opens one up. It that one was a cheese burger with fries. That smelt like everything. He went to the second one and opened it. That one had mashed potatoes with broccoli and steak. It’s was so mouth watering to look at. The third plate had a self portion pizza. With pepperoni on it.

I almost jumped out the bed to get it. Daemon must have saw me. He chuckled and passed me the pizza. It was cut into four little slices. I ate them happily. Do you want something to drink? Sure anything is fine. I wasn’t paying attention to him. I was paying attention to my pizza. It’s so tasty. He puts a cup in front of me. That’s some ginger ale. I say thank you to him and keep on eating.

It didn’t take me long to finish it. It was so delicious. Even though I ate it. I was still hungry. Do you want something else to eat?

If you don’t mind. I would never mind. I ordered this for you. I didn’t know what you liked to eat. So I ordered a little bit of everything. Well thank you I appreciate it. You were definitely right about me eating. My tummy really needed this. It’s my pleasure truly.

Are you going to eat something. I know I’m hungry but I won’t eat all of this. If I eat too much I might throw up. My tummy isn’t used to this much food. I’m sorry to hear that. You tummy should eat what ever it wants and be happy. I couldn’t help but laugh at him. He walks back to the cart and asks me which one I want. I pick the mash and steak. It looks very tempting. He hands it to me than goes back to the cart. Takes the burgers and fries and starts eating. Which makes me happy.

After we eat he turns on the tv for us to watch. I lay down feeling stuffed like a turkey. My belly has never felt this full. Now i just need to keep it inside my belly. Have you ever seen this movie before? I haven’t seen anything in a long time. To be honest I was never allowed to watch it. Only before when I was younger. They use to do home inspection. Those were the only days they allowed me to watch.

Daria I’m really sorry they were mean to you. It’s okay, it’s not like it was you who was making the rules. You weren’t the one doing that to me. It was them. Well I know my sister likes this movie. So maybe you will. I don’t know but how about we try it? That’s fine honestly I don’t mind. He puts on a movie called twilight. I lay back and watch it. After a while I feel myself fighting to stay up. My eyes are getting heavy. Than everything goes back.

When i open my eyes again. I see myself in a field. It honestly looks like the middle of the woods. Violet.. you getting closer sweetie. Your almost home. Almost with your family. You were you need to be. What do you mean? What family? I’m all alone always have been! I have always been with you. You’ve never been alone. I’m with you violet. Than where are you? Where we’re you all those times I got beat! Where are you now!?

I know it’s hard right now. I know what you’ve been through. I’ve seen it all. Felt it all, but please believe me. It’s okay to be okay. You one step closer to your family. With that my dream is over. I’m up hearing the machine beat. I sit up as much as I can. Not really having enough strength. The room is dark but there’s a little light above my bed. That lets me see enough to know. Daemon is still sitting in the chair.

Are you okay? Do you need something? Do you ever sleep. He chuckles at my question. Of course i sleep but I’m a light sleeper. I heard you whimper. As you were trying to get up. Oh well that’s good to know. Do you think you can help me to the bathroom? I really have to use it. No problem love I don’t mind. He gets up and walks to me. I can’t believe he just called me love. He comes to the right side of the bed. I pull the blanket off my legs. That’s when I see them for the first time. The bruises I have from the beating.

I close my eyes trying to hold back my tears. I’m so tired of seeing my body like this. Daemon stands there quietly letting me process my emotions. I open my eyes and start moving my legs. I really have to pee. When I have both of my legs hanging over the bed. Daemon puts both his arms out for me to grab. When I touch him I got like this tingling feeling from him.

When I looked at him. It was like he felt it too. We say nothing about and he starts pulling me up slowly. Take it easy love, you’re hurt badly. Trust me Daemon this is nothing. I’ve been worse without help. I was looking at him. But at that moment I knew the growl came from him. Maybe he just acts like a dog. I start taking steps slowly. One by one. Daemon is right there holding me. Making sure I don’t fall.

We finally reach the bathroom. He walks me all the way to the toilet.I’ll leave you here to do your business. If you need me again just call me. I’m right here okay. He turns and walks away. Leaving me in the bathroom alone. All I have to do is lift my gown so it’s not much work. It’s when I went to sit that hurt me. My body is just super sore.

I finish using the bathroom. I see the shower and decide to take one. Hot water always helps me out. It makes my body feel better. I untie the string. While the water heats up. On the Sink is a big towel and a wash cloth. With a tooth brush and tooth paste. I took those with me and jumped in. As soon as the water hit my body. It felt like heaven for me.

I stood there for a couple of seconds. Than I started brushing my teeth. After that I saw washed my hair. They had some littles bottles on the shelf. It’s felt so good to be cleaning myself. I washed myself than got out. Than it was hard for me to breath. I felt like someone had their hands around my neck. I felt it. At this point now I’m gasping for air on my knees. On the floor. I try to call to Daemon. I can’t find my voice. It’s like he heard me though. He burst in through the door. Daria what’s wrong? He grads a towel and wraps it around me. Than picks me up and goes to the room.

Daria look at me. What’s wrong? Breath just breath. You’re fine, you’re with me. Just breath love. He’s rubbing my arms with his hands. While I sit in between his legs on the bed. When he touches me it’s sends a tingling sensation to my whole body. Hearing his voice so close to my ears. I could hear the vibration is his tone. I notice my breathing started to come back to normal. Good love good. That’s it just keep on breathing and looking at me.

I start breathing normally again. He stands me up and wraps a new gown around me. Than helps me lay back down. I don’t know if you want to tell me what went wrong. I’m here if you want to though. He caresses my face with his hand.

I lean into it. Loving the sensation that it gives me. I know I’m about to sound really weird to him. But I can’t help myself. Will you lay down with me? He doesn’t give me an answer. I see him get up and take off his shoes. So i move over for him to get in. He fixes himself on the bed first. Than I lay on to of him. I honestly don’t know where I got the guts to do this at. But I did it. It felt wonderful too.

I closed my eyes and relaxed on his chest. Enjoying the scent that comes off his body. He’s smells like fresh rain. In the forest. It’s the best thing in the world. I feel myself drift off to sleep again. This time with no dream.
