She didn't even have to think she knew exactly where she was, the worst part was she couldn't even think of how she had made it here this fast, let alone had known the way subconsciously even though she had only been here once.
She was not exactly at his place yet but it was pretty much the area. She never had any business around here so there was obviously no other reason why she was here even though she still couldn't comprehend how she got here so fast in the first place.
She quickly parked by the side of the road unsure of her decision. One thing was sure she did not want to go home. Another was there was no way she could enter a restaurant dressed like this. It was calling for unnecessary attention that she was not ready to handle at the moment.
She could not go to the bar because she was craving a company not a company of people. She was sure to react badly if a dude looked at her the wrong way and a swollen wrist was him getting off easy.
She sighed, she knew what she wanted to do, the problem is if it was what she needed to do. It would still take her a couple of minutes to make it to Vance's place. There was also the off chance that he was out or worse he had guests over and can't let her in. Almost immediately her brain grabbed onto it as soon as it realized there was a high chance of failure. This was perfect that way if she got turned away, she would know better than to show up ever again.
It would be super humiliating and embarrassing so whenever she thought of him she would have a counter thought. She knew it did not make much sense but she was tired of pretending that she did not want to see him. Sleeping in someone’s arms was so much better than her lonely old bed even though she did not plan on spending the night but she did intend to lie in his arms even though it would just be for the brief moment while they were, you know.
She sighed and started the engine, she might as well get this over with. Dinner was completely forgotten as she drove off in the direction of Vance's home. She drove slowly giving her mind the chance to change its mind if it wanted to but even as she thought about it, she knew the chance of that was pretty slim. She could feel her excitement burning but most importantly she was warm in the right places.
The turn that directly led to Vance’s place soon appeared in view and for a brief second, she wondered if she should not go ahead with her ridiculous plan but this thought was only for a second, and as soon as she got close enough to take the turn, she did.
However, as she got closer to the gate she began to run out of juice and the car slowed but she managed to drive all the way to the gate. Stopping now would mean she did not have the courage to see it through but if she got turned away she would have a genuine reason to forget about him.
She came to a stop in front of the gate and pressed her horn before sticking her head out of the window to speak into the stand.
As she opened her mouth to speak, she could not help but think of how much it would suck if the guard had absolutely no idea who she was, and not only would she have to introduce herself but state her business and then wait to find out if Vance was free or even wanted to see her. However, she was here so she might as well see it through. No sooner was her head out that the gate opened even before she spoke a single word. Her mouth fell open but she did not waste any time as she drove in.
It was pretty dark as she drove in but her keen vision was definitely not affected by the lack of light. Only then did she realize that she had not noticed the surrounding her first time here. She was aware of the gate and the slight drive to the building itself but she could not remember what lay between the gate and the building.
On her first time here both on her way in and out she had a one-track mind of getting into his pants and also running for her life. Now, she was even more anxious but she was not in as much hurry as she was then so she tried to look around. There was not really much to see but from the look of things, she could easily see there were a lot of trees around and flowers too. She was not really picking their colors but their outlines were pretty obvious if the smell did not reach her first.
She took a deep breath enjoying the smell of the trees and flowers going into her lungs. Almost immediately she froze, she raised her head a little and saw him standing on his porch. She did not have to think too much to know he was staring right at her, she could feel his gaze and from where she was she would have sworn his eyes were glowing.
She suddenly felt super self-conscious and almost began to regret her decision. She drove directly to the front of the house and stopped. She finally looked away as she killed the engine and removed the key. She sighed and raised her head but he was no longer by the door, she frowned as she tried to look for him.
“Took you long enough,” she heard his voice directly next to her ears. She gasped, realizing he was by her car window.
