Barely five hours later and Selene knew she was fighting a losing battle. There was no way she could hold out and she could tell. She had to leave the house or she was likely to go nuts. She had flipped all through the available stations and not once did she find something she wanted to watch or could even watch for more than fifteen minutes.
For the first time in a long time she was wishing she had work to do, wishing that instead of getting rid of everything that needed her attention, she had saved some for home. Work was more than enough because she needed a certain amount of concentration and that was sure to get rid of the distraction.
She groaned and rose to a sitting position. Somehow, she had found herself lying down and she couldn't even remember when her body had moved to that position. She rubbed her eyes suppressing the urge not to groan again.
She suddenly jumped up, she was going for a walk. She needed to clear her head and maybe scenery was what she needed. Normally, she would have gone to a bar or the bar for a drink but she wasn't taking any chances, and even though her body was screaming otherwise, giving in felt like losing on her part.
It wasn't like she never planned to see him again but it just felt a little too soon and the worst part was she could not comprehend why she was fighting it. She did not have to, after all, it was completely s****l but she knew a part of her wanted it to be more.
However, she would be stupid to think she could get more and the last thing she wanted to do was fall for Vance and the feeling wouldn't be mutual. It would suck. Besides, this was just her thoughts rambling. She didn't believe in love and certainly wouldn't start now.
She rolled her eyes and rushed to her room. She needed to dress up, yes she was pretty comfortable walking around with nothing but her panties but she doubted the public would accept that even though there was no denying the fact that she had a great bosom.
It was not huge bonkers and it certainly was not the kind that stopped you in your tracks but they were very eye-catching if she did say so herself. They held firm and bounced around when she walked.
She picked up her bra that lay amongst her pile of clothes on the ground. She couldn't wear the same clothes again, aside from the fact that they were work clothes she had also worn them for hours, they definitely smelled funny.
She opened her wardrobe wondering what to wear, one thing was sure whatever she was going to pick was going to be comfortable as hell. It didn't take long for her to make her decision. She picked a pair of shorts and a sweater.
The shorts were halfway up her thighs and she was certain it was freezing outside but the weather had never really bothered her and the colder it was, the better. The top however was a sweater but it was too flimsy to call it that. It wouldn't keep anybody warm and certainly not in this weather.
Satisfied she closed the wardrobe and quickly slid her feet into her comfy flip flops. She immediately made her way out of the room and to the living room where she picked her purse and car keys. She rushed to the carriage and it wasn't until she drove out that she realized she was going for a walk, not a freaking drive.
She rolled her eyes and hit the steering, pressing the horn in the process. She swore almost immediately, worried that she would disturb her neighbors. She often avoided them but a particular lady wouldn't let her be and always found a way to come talk to her about one complaint or the other.
The funny part was no matter how many times she always introduced herself to Selene, Selene never remembered her name and just called her Karen in her head. More often than not this had slipped out, not on purpose by the way and Karen had not been pleased.
It was too late now, she might out well drive around. She last thing she wanted was Karen rushing to her just as she was driving back into the garage or worse while she was leaving the house on foot. Besides, she could not walk around in flip-flops so it means she would have to change her shoes. Nah, she was good.
She immediately drove off with no destination in mind. It was times like these that she wished she had friends. She was certain it would be nice to hang out with a bunch of people she was familiar with every once in a while instead of always strangers.
However, making friends has never really bothered her until now, something else she would blame on Vance. She liked her company and if by the off and impossible chance that she was bored which almost never happened, she could hang out in her dad's place or a bar.
She groaned again, it was easy to pretend that she was thinking of Vance as a person and not his hot body that did things to her she refused to think about. It was bad enough that he had the body of a Greek god but also his lower part matched the description and now she thought about it, all she could say was she wished she could have that for dinner instead.
Her train of thought brought the realization that she literally had not eaten more than two apples. As if on cue, her stomach growled. Only then did she study her surroundings as she checked to see if there was anywhere nearby she could buy anything from.
No sooner did her eyes scan around her that the words, "f**k!" left her lips.
