"You must be delusional!" Selene yelled, she had seen a lot of stupid people but Vance and his father took the cake. They made some of the Nobles look smart and in her opinion, a lot of them were dumb as s**t.
Vance suddenly looked up and started to stare at her weirdly. Selene blinked beside herself, arching her head to one angle as she wondered what was going on. He stepped closer and she stepped backward.
"Are you okay?" He asked and she was immediately taken aback, however, not in a good way. Whatever his plan was, he must be nuts if he thought it was going to work. "I smell blood."
Selene froze. Could he smell it because he was this close or something else was up because she had sat near her father and she doubted he had noticed? If he had she would not have been able to walk out the way she did. He most certainly would have stopped her.
Could it be that the bandage was loose? That was not possible. Or was her injury leaking out? She doubted that was the case either. Her injury was not completely closed yet but she was sure there would be no leakage, not with the way she has cleaned and bandaged it, so how could he tell.
"No, you don't!" She muttered darkly. The last thing she needed right now was her father discovering she had gotten shut. She needed to leave right now and not just to clear her head. "Stop trying to change the subject!"
"I'm not, I promise."
She glared at him, he must be really stupid, she thought. "I don't care, I just know I never want to see you again and the next time we do, you better have figured out how to undo this but right now, I don't want to see you, let alone be near you."
She tugged her hand backward and he let go, she didn't waste any time as she slid into her car and immediately drove off. She didn't want to see him in her rearview mirror as she drove away.
The guards could tell how agitated she was because they opened the gate even before her car got close enough. She got out and the gate closed behind her. She let out a sigh of relief even though she knew she was not completely out of the woods yet but she was out of that place, it was a start.
She couldn't comprehend how she was feeling, didn't know what to do or think as she drove off. One thing was certain, she needed some time alone. Of course, she was going to cut everybody off so her father would know better than to reach her.
She would go home, get some sleep because heaven knew her head hurt, and then by the afternoon when she was awake and clear-headed, she would address this unbelievable situation.
She was not broken, her father should have known her better than this. If there had even been a slight chance that she would give in, it just flew out the window.
