No Father I will not," I refused vehemently, marching to the fridge to have a drink.  "Kat, my love, don't make us go over this issue over and over again. We have argued enough," my father said, strutting after me into the kitchen area.  "I will not be mated to someone I know absolutely nothing about, except that he is the leader of the pack."  I gulped down the can of energy drink in the twinkle of an eye and watch Father stare at me.   "You know when your mother was mated to me, she knew nothing about me as well."   "Urggh," I growled, "you are a good man, the perfect man anyone would wish for, but this is different."   "How is it different, tell me," he took his seat on the kitchen chair as I sat on the table. "You don't know Alex as well, he might just be as good as I am."  Father's persuasions were already starting to get to my nerves, but I sulked it in, hoping he would stop.   "Father, Alex is different. He is arrogant, pompous, egocentric, and cruel, he -"   "Cruel? Woah, slow down a bit. He is disciplined and strict with rules, but not cruel." Sometimes I just wonder if my father is truly as wise as people claim. He is the Grey Alpha, the wisest of all werewolves but he still cannot see through Alex's facade.  "Ok not cruel, agreed. But I still won't spend the rest of my life with a mate I don't know. Mother was only lucky to have you, I have seen the negative turn it takes and I am not ready to take such a risk."   "Kat, he is the leader of the pack, his mate would probably have an increased influence and power within the pack and -"   "Dad, enough. I will not listen to any more of your sermons. No matter how many times you try to convince me my response will remain the same. No." I bounced from the table and stormed away from the house. I sprinted into the woods to clear my head and breath properly. I tried to imagine if there was something more to my father's incessant pressure to become Alex's mate, but I could think of none except that I become more powerful and the Alpha blood continues to flow in our bloodline.  I never wanted any of that, and neither will I accept it.  I stood at the edge of the forest, near the lake, it was my place of peace, however, the peace didn't last long when I felt a sudden tug at my heart. It began to beat fast in my chest. I chose this place because it was a place I could be myself without anyone intruding into my space. But tonight something was odd, there was a strange aura around me.  Immediately, I started to find my way out of the woods, I felt I was being watched and I couldn't shake away the feeling. I heard a twig snap behind me, I turned around and all I could see is dense trees and bushes. Maybe a deer, but I have not seen anything big enough to make such a sound.  "Who is there?" I yelled with a whimper.  A growl from the thick darkness responded and slowly, I saw the trace of a glow coming out of the dark. It was Alex. I watched in disbelief as Alex charged at me with his eyes glowing a reddish hue. Before I could react, he tackled me to the ground, his grip was strong and unrelenting. I tried to push him off but his strength was too much and his eyes weren't their usual blue eyes, I felt he was drugging me as strength began to depart from me slowly.  "What are you doing, Alex?" I said, with a trembling voice, as I struggled to breathe.   "You belong to me, just me," he growled and thrust his claw through my wrists. His voice was a deep rumble that made my skin crawl. "I own you." My instincts kicked in and I pushed him off me with all of my strength, I stood my ground and decide to face him. His bulky figure terrified to the core, nevertheless, I stood my ground.   "You cannot make me," I said, my voice unwavering. "You are a monster, I will never be with someone like you, not in this lifetime or a million to come."   "You make a very big mistake, Kat. I can and I will." He charged at me with force and I fought back, but he was still too powerful for me to stop, he dragged me by my ankle and tossed me around. I got back up in instant, scratches his face with my claw , but he responded with a headbutt that made my head ring, I lost focus, but my word remained the same.   "I will never become yours, Alex. I will never become your mate," I mumbled, writhing in pains.   "Mate rejection is not allowed, and you know that."   "I will choose who I want to be with and that person is not you, neither will it ever be you." He became more furious and bruised me with a dozen scars, nevertheless, I refused to back down.  He grabbed me by the neck and slammed me on the floor, "I don't want to do this, don't make me use brute force on you," he said, pointing his claw at my heart, as he pinned me down to the ground.   "Go to hell you son of a b***h," I spat on his face.    "You will regret this, Katrina." As he was about to thrust his claws into my chest, I closed my eyes and accept my fate joyfully, someone pounced on him out of nowhere, keeping my life intact. "Stay out of this playboy," Alex snarled at Jack.   Jack shoved me behind him, and released his fangs and claws, "is that how you were taught to treat a mate? I'll show you what is done to losers like you." He attacked Alex.
