Chapter 17

The sunlight flickered off of the golden flecks of fur on the honey-coloured wolf while a brown and pure white followed behind. Their paws pounding against the forest floor as they ran. The pack was close it was a few hours outside of the Region Raiden was taking over, a trip it took the of trio two days to make. Aerly was attempting to ignore the nervous feeling settling in her chest two things weighed heavy on her mind her possible future as an Alpha and the thoughts of her mate both thoughts wormed their way in her brain no matter how much she attempted to focus of her future as a pack leader the other would find its way in. Raiden's hurt face was burnt into her mind like a scar that would never properly heal but she was only twenty-two and she hadn't even begun her future as an Alpha yet.  "Aerly" Delilah called shaking Aerly from her thoughts. She was no in her human form opening the backpack she'd carried in her teeth like each of them did.  The honey wolf turned her gaze to the teen who was quickly slipping on some baggy overalls and t-shirt. All that time in the hospital she had always seemed much older but now it was quick to gather how old Delilah really was. Aerly was abrupt about turning to her human self and standing shamelessly in front of the girl "What?" "We are here" a voice sounded from behind the tree. Noah stepped out doing up his jeans but quick to keep his gaze averted from Aerly's naked form. "Always the modest one" Aerly laughed to herself before preparing to get some clothes from her own bag that had dropped by her feet. "Have you thought about what you will say?" Noah questioned his eyes slowly raising to face the young Alpha. "How about hi I'm your granddaughter, I'm here to take over as Alpha" Delilah joked. "Maybe not the best—" "Hey! You what are you doing out here?" A large man emerged from amongst the trees. "Seems we are in the right place" Aerly commented after finished dressing by fixing a tank top over her bare skin before turning to face the man. "Answer me now!" He growled, he was obvious warrior type wolf intimidating and forceful. He stood tall over the three with broad shoulders like a wall. "Don't bother intimidating me" Aerly spoke shaking her head at his behaviour. While Delilah and Noah stood by unsure how to react. "You've trespassed on pack land. You're lucky I haven't beaten you down yet girl" he growled again stalking closer all the while Aerly remained tall and unmoved. "Did you call me girl?" She questioned a singular eyebrow-raising. "Give me a reason I shouldn't disembowel the three of you now" The man practically stood over Aerly narrowed but glaring ready to attack at a moments notice. "Try me" Aerly snarled as soon as the man reached out she snatched his meaty fist mid-air twisting it the force of her grip beginning to crush his hand. "Let go you little b***h" the large man was quick to be dropped to his knees as soon as she twisted his forearm enough it was bent at the elbow. "Listen here asshole" Aerly snarled as the man struggled against her hold as soon as he made the move to swing once more her heel was connecting with his knee a shattering c***k sounding out throughout the area causing Delilah and Noah to wince "I want to see you Alpha now!" "I...I can't walk" he whimpered in his now kneeling position. "Then limp there" Aerly growled out and with a violent push releasing his arm. The trio stood aside while the man shot daggers at them as he struggled to his feet. "Why do you want to see the Alpha?" He questioned once he finally got himself to stand. "That's my business. Now move!" She ordered. Aerly knew she could have done it easier but with the man's attitude it was quick to set off her hot-headed temper. Not another world before the man began limping. ::: Yards of farming fields they walked through following closely to a man struggling to walk. It seemed like a productive place with the amount of work going on.  "How long have you been apart of this pack?" Aerly interrogated. "My whole life" the man grumbled. "And what is your name?"  "Darius Merrow"  "Well Darius, How well do you know the Alpha?" She couldn't help but continue her questioning as they walked. "Not very" He continued to grumble as he cradled his injured arm. "I thought you lived here your whole life?" Delilah was the one to question this time. "Well, the Alpha is new. He's only been Alpha for the past year" he explained. "The past year?" Delilah spoke again and the trio suddenly shared confused glances. "What about the Rowe family? The Alpha's" Aerly asked wondering if she had perhaps got the wrong pack. "Oh... Eda and Genevieve were running the pack a long time rumour had it they wanted to hand it to their grandchild but after their daughter died and her pack was wiped out they couldn't find the grandchild so it went to their son Divan" he shook his head "how do you even know about them?" "Their my family" Aerly snapped causing the man to look at her in surprise "what happened to them?" "A year ago a young wolf came and challenged Divan. He was never the strongest of wolves and well... He won and killed Divan" Darius explained a hint of sadness wavering in his voice. "And what about Eda and Genevieve?" Aerly attempted to keep a strong voice but she couldn't help her wavering tone also. "He sent them away... I don't know where" his head hung low despite their interaction it was clear the pain of it was obvious in the two as they shared a saddened look. "How do you—" "Well, well, well what do we have here..."
