"So you know where your mothers family is?" It was the first thing William asked once Aerly took them to the study and explained the letter.
Aerly crossed one leg over the other as she faced her father giving a gentle nod "And Alpha Damery gave this to you?" he asked and once again Aerly gave a nod.
"That's quite a sweet mate you have, Aerly. Going out of his way to do this for you" Rose gushed looking over William's shoulder her eyes examining the paper.
"Mm seems things went truly great between them considering the way he raced out of here" Eli added shooting his sister a questioning look.
"Whatever happened between us has nothing to do with you little brother" Aerly snarled she was lying to herself really when she thought she could control her emotions sooner or later her anger always got the best of her.
"Calm down, Aerly" William practically ordered causing Aerly to grumble.
"It doesn't matter... I don't want a mate I've never shied away from my feelings over the matter. Meeting Raiden doesn't change that" Aerly knew apart of her was lying she didn't want one before and yes she wanted to focus on her plans however Raiden somehow had worked his way into her thoughts and had become apart of her future plans.
"Aerly, don't say such things" Rose shook her head at her stepdaughter disapproving of her attitude as she often did.
"Yes, Raiden is your mate you need to respect that sooner or later he will become a large factor in your life" but they didn't realise that had already been the case and as she listened to her father lecture her, it didn't matter Aerly had never been one to show that side of herself. A romantic, loving sort of person just wasn't who she was but apparently, it was apart of what she wanted which had been made clear to her after Raiden's beautiful words and her sticking her tongue down his throat but again more information that wouldn't be divulged to her family.
"I didn't come here to be lectured about my mate issues. I came here to talk about that letter and the fact Mother's family could still be alive and now I know where they are..." Aerly ran her tongue across her lower lip something she did often when she was in thought "I know I have duties here father but I would like to at least investigate their location. I know I'm needed here and I understand—"
"Aer, they are your family too, of course, you should go. You're the rightful Alpha to their pack we—"
"But what about the purebloods if they come back?" Aerly couldn't help but question.
"We have the Alpha's men here to help I will make sure Mitchell holds up your routine with the warriors" William's tone was soft which always meant he was sincere.
"You need to do this Aerly. You're a born leader one born to lead a pack, not just a Sanctuary" Eli added giving his sister a smile which just curled one corner of his mouth.
"Are you sure?" The usually strong-headed girl couldn't help feel unsure of leaving her family behind. She was never one to step aside from her duties.
"Of course, you need to do this" William gave a firm nod of his head.
"Thank you" Aerly smiled feeling quite appreciative of her family "really, thank you."
:::
"So you're leaving?" Lilah questioned after Aerly explained the situation once she got to the infirmary.
"Just to go find my family. I'm supposed to become the Alpha of their pack apparently so the sooner I find them the better. I mean it's not the ideal time considering everything going on but I need to do this" Aerly explained to the teenager.
"Of course you have to do this!" Lilah exclaimed. In the entire time, Aerly had known Lilah which granted wasn't very long but at that moment it was the most excited she had seen her. A smile on her cherry lips "your a born Alpha this is what you're made for but..." Lilah cleared her throat clearly at the awkwardness of what she was about to say "what about Raiden?"
"What about him? I've got my path I need to follow and he has his and if by chance we somehow meet in the middle one day then maybe there will be something worth talking about there but right now" Aerly forced a smile. Frankly, the idea of being without Raiden was quite bothersome but they were young and had time. They needed to settle on who they are and what they needed to do apart first.
"You're destined to be together, Alpha. I really don't think it's that simple" Lilah simply smirked for someone just shy of sixteen she had turned into quite the wise little wolf.
"And if we are destined then we will find each other but I am going to find my family first and hopefully find my place" Aerly gave a firm nod on the matter.
"Your place?..." Lilah laughed " it's not here being some trainer for warriors. Your place is to be an Alpha it always has been--"
"As you've told me many times since we've met" Aerly couldn't help but give the girl a smile. She was always so supportive if Aerly did ever dare lack the confidence Lilah would easily lift it.
"Well it's true."
"Alright.." Aerly sighed " it's getting late. I should probably head home start getting ready ."
"When do you leave?" Lilah questioned as she sat upon the cot.
"Two days. I don't want to leave any later. My father gave me the go-ahead and with pure blood's lurking around to get in here I would rather find them sooner than later. Sort out everything" Aerly spoke as she stood up from her seat. The single chairs never had been the most comfortable in the Sanctuary hospital "get some rest, Lilah. You still need to re-cooperate. I will see you tomorrow" Aerly turned to leave.
"Alpha!" Lilah called "I don't need anymore re-cooperating. I'm fine, I healed up two days ago and that means I'm ready because when you leave I'm coming with you."
