Chapter 11

*NOAH’S P.O.V*   The fight ended when headmaster Murphy and Alpha Sean showed up. Everyone scrambled to try and leave but his guards were quicker. They took us into separate classrooms when the interrogations began. I told Murphy everything I knew, from Alex being held down to Lucas helping Kevin. I thought everything was over until Alpha Sea came in. He questioned everything I had just said. One thing that did catch me off guard was him questioning Cynthia’s relationship with Kevin. Answering honestly, I told him I had no idea. The more he pushed to know about them, the angrier he got. I honestly didn’t know what he wanted to know. He ordered for all of us to be transferred to a holding center. It was designed to neutralize our wolves while inside. One by one, new interrogations began. I was on edge after watching everyone inside the center. Four hours had passed when suddenly a guard escorts me out. He brings me into a room where I see Cynthia. She stands there crossing her arms with a smirk on her face. “How’s confinement?” She asks. The smirk on her face doesn’t leave her face as I don’t respond. “How’s Alex?” I scoff at her words as she mentions his name, “Why do you care? You started this!” She narrows her eyes as she walks closer to me, “How is this my fault?” She asks quietly. “From what I’ve heard, your little friend Kevin has a lot to say” I snap back. “Jealous?” I laugh at her words and turn to leave. Before I reach the door she grabs me the neck. Pulling me very close to her, she whispers into my ear, “Reject her and I’ll tell the truth”. I clench my fists at her words as she laughs again. She’s playing her usual games as she had barely whispered it into my ear. I don’t say anything as I leave the room. The guard escorts me back into the center. Taking a seat next to Michael, I hold my head in my hands. I pray to the Goddess that Celeste is safe and nowhere near this mess. After a full day, they finally bring us some food. We eat and rest for a bit, when a guard walks in. “Parents are here!” The guard yells. I mentally prepare to face my parents and the disappointment they must feel. “My dad’s here?” Michael asks surprised. The guard shakes his head, “Your mom, Luna Abigail is here”. Hearing this, Michael’s face falls in disappointment. I give him a sympathetic smile but he doesn’t respond. “Noah Allard. Let’s go” The guard commands me. I walk out and my mom pulls me into a tight embrace. My dad joins our hug as my sister Carla gives me a big grin. “Noah, great to have you back” Beta Daniel tells me as he gives me a pat on the shoulder. The guard brings Michael out where only his mom greets him. Her puffy and red eyes land on us. She gives us a small smile as they walk away. We walk to the van where Carla whispers something to dad. He nods and she goes back inside the building. Since the Alpha Sean dinner it had became very obvious who he was interested in. We get inside the van and Arnold drives us home. Once home, the maids take our things and I head upstairs to shower. The steam shower helps me relax and cool down at the same time. By the time I leave my bathroom, I can hear the shouting happening downstairs. Putting on some sweatpants and a t-shirt, I go downstairs to find aunt Maria crying. “What happened?” I ask everyone. No one says anything. “What’s going on?” “Noah-“ “Celeste is with Alpha Sean at the Ridley pack” My dad flat out tells me. Beta Daniel growls as he says this while his wife lets out another sob. A mixture of anger and worry arise within me as I wonder why she’s over there. What could she possibly be doing over there? What happened these past two days?! “Noah, just go upstairs and get some rest” My mom tells me. She gives me a warning look and I leave without saying anything. Once upstairs, I call her but her phone sends me straight to voicemail. I call her a couple of more times but no answer. Feeling restless I climb out the window and go into the forest. I sit in our spot as I wait for her to call me. After an hour I can no longer wait for her to call. After the first ring, it goes through. “Celeste?” I ask excitedly. But no one answers and instead the call ends. I frown at my phone and try to call her again, this time it says her phone is off. What just happened? Did she hang up on me? I just wish I knew what was going on with her.   The next morning…   Once I get to school, I see girls giving me flirtatious smiles and googly eyes. I ignore them as I search the halls for Celeste. I turn every corner and search every classroom but come up short every time. “Have you seen Celeste?” I ask Alex as I bump into him. He shakes his head, “No, why?” “She had dinner at the Ridleys and never came home” I tell him. He nods as he walks beside me. “Yeah I guess they really did recruit her now” He tells me. “What?” I ask stunned. I stop walking and turn to face him. “She was the reason we got out of that mess” He tells me, “You did know, right?” Still stunned, I shake my head. The bell rings but I don’t move. My legs feel as if their glued to the floor. Alex has to physically pull me and lead me to class. Throughout the day, I hear snippets of the story from people. Celeste and Amirah caught Cynthia kissing Kevin. Cynthia and Kevin being mates. Them finding out that same morning. Their bond being viciously broken. Celeste being Alpha Sean’s favorite now. Him recruiting Celeste to be one of his top workers. The last one brought a wave of pain to my chest. It meant that she would leave me…she would leave me for his pack. I hear Hunter whimpering in my head as I think of this. “Hey Noah” Michael says as I reach the cafeteria. “Hey” I tell him. I put some food on my tray as I head outside to sit at our table. He follows behind as he takes a seat across from me. “Did Celeste come to school today?” I ask him. “Yeah, she should be around” He tells me biting into his sandwich. “How is she?” “Fine-“ “Mind if I join?” Scott interjects as he sets down his plate. Michael gives me a questioning look as I nod towards him. He sits next to Michael as I watch his every move carefully. After a very long and awkward pause, I finally decide to break the silence. “Are you still staying with the Ridleys?” I ask him nonchalantly. “Yeah, Michael’s been nothing but a great host. Wonderful host. Just the best” He says joking. I have to restrain Hunter because images of them being together flashes through my mind. “I could have left you sleeping in the streets” Michael snorts. We all laugh as he says this. “How was class?” Scott asks me awkwardly. “Great” I say with a forced smile. “Hey, umm, I’m sorry about Cynthia” Scott says sympathetically while looking directly at me. “Thanks” I manage to mumble out. With everything going on, I totally forgot about Cynthia. I still couldn’t believe Kevin was her true mate. “How’s she doing? Have you heard from her?” Michael asks. “No I haven’t” I say feeling guilty. “She’s in the hospital” Alex says suddenly. He appears with his tray of food as he slides next to me. “At least that’s what Alpha John told us”. My eyes retreat down as I hear about her. I can’t imagine what she’s going through. Even though she has no wolf yet, she still felt the bond break. An alpha feels the bond even weeks before their 18th birthday. Some feel it even months before. “We should blow off the last classes and go joy riding” Scott says suddenly. “No thanks. I don’t need another reason for my dad to hate me” Michael says dismissively. “Same for me” I add. “After school then! There’s no rank classes, right?” Scott says enthusiastically. I mentally roll my eyes at his excitement. Does this guy really think we’re in the mood for fun? Is he really this naive? “I’m down” Alex says catching all of us by surprise. I arch my eyebrow at him as he shrugs, “Why not? We need to blow off some steam”. “I guess” I say. “You guys are crazy” Michael adds. We finish our lunch as we agree to meet after school. I’m still not sure about Scott and his intentions. He seems like a decent guy but I can’t forget that he kissed Celeste. I almost growl at the last part and push the thought out of my head. If it wasn’t for that, maybe we could have been friends. After lunch we make our way inside when I begin to smell a sweet and delicate scent. I follow it to the main office where I see her with her parents. “We’ll talk about this at home” her dad says scolding her. She nods as she looks down at the floor. “Celeste, go to class” her mom says quietly. She keeps looking down as she gets up. The office assistant gives her a paper and she walks out of the office. “Celeste” I say quietly. She looks up and I see the tears around her eyes. I reach for her face but she stops my hands midway. “Not here” She whispers to me, “Meet me after school”. I nod as I watch her go to class. My heart does a funny skip as I’m finally seeing her but I can’t stand to see her upset. Time seems to go by incredibly slow now. Each class seems to be longer than the last. I only want to see Celeste and hold her in my arms. Tell her how much I missed her and how she’s always on my mind. I stare out the window and wonder what she’s doing right now. “Am I boring you Noah?” Professor James says annoyed. “Huh?” I tell him as he pulled me out of my thoughts. The other students start to snicker as I look around. “Mister Allard, leave the daydreaming out of my class and focus on the work” Professor James says while giving me death stare. I nod and pretend to be interested in class. For the rest of the day, I try to focus on my school work while watching the clock slowly tick by. Once the school bell rings to dismiss us, I practically fly out of my seat. I look for Celeste when suddenly my phone rings. I don’t feel like going home just yet. Want to escape together? - Celeste I smile at her devious little message and reply yes. As I make my way out of the school, I realize my guard is waiting for me. Fortunately, he hasn’t noticed me which gives me time to hide. “This way” Alex whispers, suddenly appearing next to me. We duck in between the cars and make our way to the others. “Let’s go while we still can” Scott says ushering us into his van. “Wait, I’m waiting-“ I stop mid sentence when I notice Celeste hurriedly walking towards us. Her smile grows bigger as she sees us all staring at her. “If you’re all avoiding your guards then I’m in” She says excitedly. “Fine” Michael groans and gestures for her to get in, “We’re just going to drive cars”. Since Scott is the only one with special permission to drive himself, the school guards won’t question it. As he leaves the school parking lot, we all duck into our seats. “Since when do you guys know how to drive?” Celeste asks mockingly once we’re in the clear. “My dad taught me” Alex says in a prideful tone. “And I obviously know” Scott says laughing. She laughs with him as does Michael. Part of hates the fact that she’s still friends with Scott. That she still talks and laughs with him. I can’t shake the fact that I’m jealous right now. Not of him but of their friendship. I still have a lot of making up to do for all those months I avoided her. We pull into a hidden garage where Michael hops out first. “Why are we here?” I say while looking around and seeing nothing but trees and wild flowers. “My dad’s secret stash”. Michael opens the garage door where we see the latest model of the corvette and mustang. The custom designs and leather coverings tell me that Alpha Damon dropped a pretty penny for these. “Nice” Alex says while slowly admiring the mustang. “I’m driving this one!” “You’re on!” Scott says while getting into the corvette, “Celeste?” I instantly feel my body go rigid as he mentions her name but before I can react I hear her sweet voice. “My money’s on Alex for this race” She says. “You’ll regret that when I win” he tells her. She laughs, “You mean to say when we win?” She starts to get into the car when she turns to look at me, “Come on Noah”. Happily obeying, I take the passenger side while Michael gets in with Scott. “The good thing is that no one lives on these lands” Alex tells us. “I can’t believe Alpha Damon has all of this unused territory” I tell him while adjusting my seatbelt. “I can” Celeste snorts. I arch my eyebrow at her but she just laughs. The cars line up besides each other as they both rev their engine. In a flash both cars speed off. I turn to make sure Celeste has her seatbelt on as Alex steps on the pedal. Pulling up ahead, I grip onto my seat as the speed picks up even more. Celeste cheers in the back as the second car fails to pick up the speed. Suddenly, we no longer hear the other car or hear the sound of the birds chirping. Somethings off… I can feel it. Before I can say my thoughts out loud, our car comes to an abrupt halt. My body jerks forward as I hit my head with the passenger door. At the speed that it was going, I could have flown out the car if it weren’t for my seatbelt. Unfortunately Alex’s airbag deployed, and I can hear him moaning in pain. I reach for him but all I can feel is the airbag. Hearing for Celeste’s heartbeat I realize she’s fine. I gently touch my head and see blood on my fingers. I try to take slow movements so I don’t do any further damage. Closing my eyes and resting, I imagine myself with her. Thinking about being alone with her, holding her in my arms and telling her how much I love her. MATE! GET TO CELESTE! Hunter’s yelling inside my head is what brings me back to reality. someone open the car door. “Celeste?!” I yell out. “Are you hurt?!” I try to move but my head feels like it’s spinning. “I’ve got her. Move out” The voice of a man says suddenly appears. With all my strength I free myself from my seatbelt and open the door. I fall to the floor as I feel incredibly nauseous now. Often times, when our mate is in danger our wolf will also take over. I can feel that happening as my wolf is on the surface now. Hunter tries to take control when suddenly a surge of energy is weighs me down. “This pup is trying to shift!” I can hear a woman say now. HUNTER! Don’t let them take her! I yell to my wolf. I can feel myself shifting again when more energy seems to weigh me down. “We’ve got the girl, just deal with the wolf” The man says agin. Hearing that they’ve got Celeste, I let out a massive growl and try shifting again. I can hear more wolves coming as they most definitely heard my growls. “It’s too late!” the man say, “Leave her”. Suddenly the biggest light of energy appears and all the strangers are gone. I look around and see no one near us anymore. Who were they? What just happened?! Thanks to Hunter’s strength, I recover quickly as I run to where Celeste is. They left her laying unconscious on the ground. Hearing her pulse, I make my way to Alex. He’s still moaning in pain as I hear his heart beating steadily. I try to get a signal but no luck. The wolves are closer to us so I can only wait now. I walk over to Celeste and hold her in my arms as I wait for help. Goddess, how the h*ll did we end up here?! It was supposed to be an afternoon of car racing…how the h*ll did everything get so bad! “Noah!” Michael’s voice snaps me out of my thoughts as I see him and Scott running towards us. “What the f**k happened?!” Scott asks as he walks over to Alex. “The car came to a sudden stop and…” I suddenly remember the strangers that were surrounding us. Who were they? “And what?” Michael asks. I shake my head as emergency personnel appears. I don’t even know how to explain this to myself. “We have to load her and take her to the hospital” A female paramedic tells me. I nod and gently lay Celeste down. As the paramedics tend to Celeste another tends to me. “They’re taking you guys back to the pack Hospital” Michael tells me. Him and Scott exchange worried looks as the fire department extracts Alex. They load Celeste into the first ambulance and usher me inside as well. Once the doors are closed, I hold Celeste’s hand all the way there.
