"I'm sorry but I cannot reject her”

“What do you mean you can't? Since when have you been interested in having your mate around? I remember the last time that I asked. You told me you didn't care”

“What has gotten into you? If only he doesn't seem to be threatened by anyone, why are you making Serena's presence a big deal? What is going on with you Valentina?” Kade searched through his sister's eyes at that moment.

Valentina opened her mouth to say something but couldn't form the right words.

“Nothing. I'm just having a bad day. I saw someone at the club and he kind of ruined my mood. I don't have a problem with Serena or whatever her name is as long as she does not stand in my path or try to run this house. I am just looking out for you because I know that she is your enemy and you've always told me that the daughter of your enemy is equally just as his father. You even doubted Nora's loyalty to us and told me to be careful or have you forgotten your own words”

Kade has never forgotten what he told his sister about Nora and he will never forget. Nora was too loyal. A loyalty that much was suspicious no matter how many times a part of him tells him it was genuine, he just doesn't want to trust her trust her completely because of Julian.

The seed of doubt have equally been planted in Valentina which is why sometimes she purposely avoids Nora and when she comes around to the hospital for them to hang out, Valentina would make up an excuse and only call her up when she needs her.

“I haven't forgotten but this is different. Serena was the one who helped me win an important contract and one more thing. She has no other choice than to obey my every rule. Besides, I can't let that bastard Julian be with her when she is my mate. He would rub it on my face that he won and I lost.”

“What does Julian have to do with this?”

“Alberto was going to give Julian Serena's hand in marriage, and I couldn't let that's wedding take place. I stopped it and I blackmailed Serena into coming with me so she cannot leave this house and she cannot leave me until I say so” He leaned against his seat and his sister shook her head disbelievingly.

“What have you done? Julian is going to try and fight back you know this.” Valentina ran her finger through her hair.

“I am not scared of him, in fact I have been preparing all through my life for a day like this when I take back everything he took from us”

“I don't care about the pack anymore as long as we are happy, you are an Alpha. I am a doctor and I am fine!”

“Well I do care, Valentina because Serena is mine!” His eyes darkened.

“Yours?” She studied him, looking at him there was something about the way he claimed her that didn't sit well with her. But Valentina decided to let it go.

Whatever happens she was going to find out eventually.

Meanwhile across the City Nora had returned home very late, the only thing she wanted was to go upstairs, take a shower and jump on her bed.

she had a court hearing in few days and had to prepare for it. She wouldn't want to lose another case. However as she walked into the house, she heard screams and shattering wondering what was going on, she drew further into the living room only to see the maid servants on their knees crying.

Julian was standing in front of them holding a bottle of whiskey and looking dishevelled.

His sleeves were rolled up. She wanted to turn around and run away and never come back but she couldn't. If Julian doesn't find her he was going to take it out on her later on.

Terrified she said. “Julian, are you alright?”

“You are home. I need your help, Nora. You have to help me get her back. I can't let Kade win. I need her expertise, my company needs it, and the only one who can help me is Serena, but that bastard Kade took her away but you can help me meet Serena so we can talk”

“I don't understand. how do you know Serena?”

“She's my wife” He said.

“But she is Kade's mate. How is that even possible and you know that I can't help you”

“You cannot or you won't” He grabbed her shoulder and she winced.

She hasn't yet healed from the injuries he inflicted on her body the other day and any more it will be difficult to conceal it with makeup, much more the lies are starting to build up and one day it's might explode.

Some of her colleagues were already wondering why she was showing up always looking tired and sometimes broken, no matter how hard she laughed it seems as if she was lifeless.

“Julian please calm down, you're hurting me. You know that Serena is his mate. There is no way Kade is going to let you be with her. It's not as if you're in love with her” Shs stated and he landed a hard slap on her face.

“She is not his mate! I cannot loose to Kade.” He held her hair and pushed her against the couch. “You want Kade to love you, don't you? Do you think Kade is better than me? Is that why you always take his side and you always run off to be with him? Are you in love with your cousin?”

“What? Nora, he’s my brother and I love him the same way that I love you” Nora was surprised that would he would make such accusations at her but Julian wasn't hearing it.

He landed yet another slap on her and kicked her on the stomach.

She groaned, the pain tearing her apart but she couldn't fight him, she could try but Julian was stronger he was an Alpha and he worked out while she was just a simple lawyer who cares about winning cases and not hitting the gym.

The maid servant cried even harder hoping that he would stop but their screams were all in vain. Julian wasn't a good man and whenever he was mad the house would feel it especially Nora.

Not because he didn't love her but because he wanted her to her hate Kade and Valentina.

“Look what you made me do” He screame and she moved away crying and scared.

“Why do you love about those people? They don't even like you. Do you think he would save you if you were trapped in a burning building. I will still be the one to come for you, Nora. Why can't you just help me out? If mom and dad was here right now what do you think they're going to do? They would hate you for always taking their side and never for once holding onto your brother whom you claim your love” He was trying to guilt trip her but that wasn't going to work.

“I will never betray them. You have hurt them so much they deserve to be happy.” she replied making his blood boil more.

He took off his belt a maid servant seeing that he was about to hit her attempted to rush over and protect her when another servant held her hand.

“Let it go or you will only make things worse for her.” The servant said. Even if broke they can't do anything.

Defeated the servant's watched as Julian struck her with his belt, tears flowed down like the river, he was about to strike her again when the doorbell rang.
