i only want you
"Reject me." A breathless and shaky voice suddenly uttered, tears slowly forming in the owner's eyes, lips trembling.
The owner held a book—judging by her direction, she must have been coming from the school library.
"What?" Zrayne's calm expression broke, and his brows furrowed in bewilderment. He parted his lips...
"Reject me." Aneyla bit her trembling lower lip and sniffed, her shaky voice more sad yet confident than before. "You don't have to pretend that you want me. You're basically an alpha, a quarterback, a striker, top student in the pack, the total package—while I'm plain. Just an average omega. I'd rather get the pain now than later." Aneyla cried out, the tears that pooled almost dripping down if not for her sheer determination.
Zrayne's expression softened yet his voice was firm. "Yes, I'm all that. But I don't want to."
Aneyla's expression changed. Her lips parted slightly and her brows knitted in confusion. "What? Why?"
Zrayne gently grabbed Aneyla's shoulder and made eye contact with her. "Because I've noticed you from the beginning, Aneyla..."
"What?" Aneyla's eyes widened and she froze. She stuttered, "No. You didn't." She tried to argue, but the sign was more obvious than anything.
Zrayne knew her name!
Guys who had less wealth and influence compared to Zrayne lived at the top of the chain and had everything delivered to them without lifting their fingers.
Yet Zrayne, who was above them all, knew her name. She was just a plain omega who luckily had no bully to pick on her. She was no one important, yet he...
Aneyla's heart slowly began to stir. What if Zrayne actually liked her and wouldn't reject her?
Aneyla's heart skipped a beat at the thought. It would be too wonderful!
Zrayne looked down at Aneyla's shiny blue eyes, his black eyes glowing as he took her hand. "Yes, I did. I figured you might be my mate, but I wanted to make sure before asking you out." He completed.
Ask? Ask her out? Aneyla's stomach fluttered and her heart began to pound so much it was as if it would burst out of her chest.
Zrayne. He. He had just confessed his crush to her? Her crush had confessed his crush to her? It was more than wonderful!
Aneyla blinked her eyes. "But don't you hang out with models, top beauties, and socialites like Celeste, the hottest girl and cheerleader—"
Zrayne chuckled and his heart softened, seeing the stars in her eyes. "Little omega, listen—not every man acts like a lame romance drama character." He extended his hand and ruffled her hair.
Zrayne had grown fond of and always looked forward to those eyes intensely focusing on him. From the first time he'd set his eyes on her, he'd always wished that she'd be his.
Zrayne couldn't bear the thought of those intense eyes that had once held him as if he was the only one in their world now belonging to another man.
Zrayne didn't know what he'd do if that ever happened. Luckily, she was all his now. He could hardly restrain the urge to howl.
Aneyla's stomach flipped, finding everything happening too good to be true.
First, Zrayne didn't reject her. Secondly, he was telling her he'd always noticed her. Thirdly, he even knew her name.
Was there anything crazier than that? Was there a greater twist than this? She'd never watched such things even in a movie. Her heart beat against her chest so much it was as if it'd jump out. "Really?"
"Really." Zrayne smiled and stroked her hand to calm the urge to pull her into his embrace and hold her tight.
Careful. Careful. She now belonged to him.
Aneyla bit her lower lip and looked at her feet. She spoke in a tiny voice. "I also had a crush on you, Zrayne. It's something like falling in love at first sight, but I could only watch from afar. I thought I wasn't your type of girl..."
"How?" Zrayne chuckled. It was right to say that her secret was a burning gaze. He could never fail to notice her presence whenever she was around.
"Aney, I don't have a type of girl." Zrayne looked into her eyes, captivated by the calm blue that looked as serene as water. "I only want you."
Aneyla's heart began to pound against her chest and her lips parted in a gasp, but before she could finish her words, her lips were captured in a soft kiss that sent shivers coursing down her spine and tingles coursing through her skin.
By the time Zrayne let go of Aneyla, her knees had weakened and she could only hold his hands for support while gently panting for air.
"I'll bring you home," Zrayne stated.
And like a dream, Aneyla's crush from years ago held her hand and brought her into his car. It was more mind-blowing than any dream or scene she'd ever fantasized.
Aneyla even had to pinch herself to assure herself that she wasn't dreaming. It was crazy!
"Little omega." That husky voice of Zrayne that made Aneyla's stomach flip and made her want to melt into a puddle sounded again.
Aneyla bit her lower lip and looked at Zrayne innocently, her soft eyelashes casting a shadow on her face.
"You could drown me with those eyes," he said.
Aneyla's cheeks burned and she lowered her head. She licked her lower lip shyly and pouted. "I'm just staring at my mate. I own him—can't I look at him when I want to?"
Zrayne's calm expression broke and his eyes darkened, almost losing control of the steering wheel.
This seductress of an omega. If Zrayne didn't have enough willpower, he would have dragged her out of that car and done what his wolf wanted him to do. Claim his mate inside and outside.
How could she test his patience like this?
Focusing those beautiful eyes on him all these years, yet he could only look from afar—did she think it was easy not acting on his impulse and just choosing to bring her home alone?
Finally, the car arrived at Aneyla's place, and the car came to a stop.
Zrayne leaned forward and placed a kiss on her forehead. "Do you have time? Let's go on a date tomorrow, hm?"
Date? Go on a date with Zrayne? Aneyla's eyes widened as if countless webs of stars lit up in them. She nodded without a thought. "Yes."
