Chapter 4

As the figure closed the door, I felt a shiver run down my spine. “Killian, right timing, I was about to come to you.” “And who’s this?” Killian asked, his voice light but commanding. “She is Elena, the Star Wolf.” “A star wolf? But you said the last one dies two decades ago.” “I was wrong.” Selaphiel answered as she turned to me. “I heard her howl a few hours ago, and if her pack did not abandon her, we wouldn’t know that there was a Star Wolf.” As he drew closer to me, my voice caught in my throat, like it was stuck, he was taller than when being described, his eyes glowed blue, his black hair was tied back, which gave him a sharp jawline. He tucked his hands into his black jacket. “Elena, right?” His eyes were locked onto mine, and I felt some sort of electricity, like I was being pulled in. He made his way towards me, as he brought out his hand to exchange pleasantries. I was shocked; rumors have it that he’s brutal and doesn’t smile. “Don’t be scared,” he said as he tucked his hands back into his jacket. “I don’t kill the innocent.” He said while a smile as he turned to Elder Selaphiel. “Is she aware of the power buried within her?” He asked, his voice low. “Not yet.” “Why don’t we test her?” He asked. “Wouldn’t it be dangerous, she didn’t know what blood she carried, I am certain she doesn’t know her strength or weakness.” “Dodge!” Killian shouted as he threw spoons towards me. I dodged all three without blinking or shaking. “What!” I said with excitement. “That is as a result of your blood.” Killian replied. “It felt amazing.” I said with smile and forgot whom I was before the almighty Killian. “Don’t get too excited, for you have both strength and weakness.” Selaphiel said “You won’t leave l until you know your strength and weakness, you would be able to master to control your strength, only then I will introduce you to my pack.” Killian added as he made his way to the door. “Alright.” I answered. “Shall we?” Selaphiel asked. “Where to?” I asked. “Want to explore your power?” “Yes!” I said with excitement. “So shall you follow me?” Selaphiel said as she made way to a small door. I quickly followed her. The door led us to another part of the forest. I kept looking around, forgetting we were out here for a reason. “Shall we? Or do you want to get lost?” We reached a secluded part within the mystical forest, it was a hidden part of the forest, surrounded by trees and twinkling stars, a place far from prying eyes, the perfect place to train Elena because of the power within her. “Time to explore your power, Elena!” Selaphiel said. “Are you ready?” Her eyes gleaming with intensity. “Yes, I’m ready!” I said. “Close your eye and try to summon your wolf.” Selaphiel told me. I tried calling onto my wolf, but each time I die, I saw an illusion of Jaxon and Sarah, I just couldn’t summon my wolf with their illusion in my head. “I can’t!” I shouted in pain. “Calm down, little wolf.” Selaphiel said as she drew closer to me. “You’re anger can cause a whole lot, hope you know?” She asked as she layed her hand on my shoulder. “Listen to nature, listen to my breath, listen to how the trees are moving, and summon your wolf.” Selaphiel said as she moved aside. “Remember take a deep breath, close your eyes and listen to everything I just mentioned.” I decided to give it a try. I took a deep breath twice as my eyes shut, and tried summoning the wolf, still wasn’t able to. “You are not following my instructions correctly.” Selaphiel said as I slowly opened my eye. “Huh?” “Listen to nature before summoning your wolf, only them can you summon your wolf.” Selaphiel said. I stretched my hands as I took a deep breath, setting my legs correctly, one back and the other front, took a deep breath one more and began enjoying the sound of nature. “It worked!” Selaphiel screamed calling my attention back. “Wait, it did work.” I said looking at myself. My fur was turning black, my eyes glowed gold as I let out a howl. “But this isn’t your full form.” Selaphiel said. “Full form?” I asked as confusion lingered within me. “When you finally embrace your full form, your fur would be of white as your eyes bloom blue.” Selaphiel said. “It’s gonna take practice for you to embrace your full form, we take it step by step.” Selaphiel added. “Alright, so what next?” I asked with excitement. “You’ll have to fight me.” Selaphiel said. “Fight you? How can I fight you?” “Trust me, Elena. Fight me like you are fighting other packs who came for war.” “Alright.” I replied. Selaphiel’s wolf form slowly emerged like a shadow, her eyes flashed blue. The air cracked with energy as they clashed, their paws swiping as their teeth snapped. My power still new to me, I wasn’t able to fight well, I feel back as defense. “Elena, try reaching onto the stars, focus!” Selaphiel replied as she came towards me. I was still laying on the floor, Selaphiel swiped her paws towards me, and I rolled aside. Finally focusing on nature, as I stood up, my eyes flashed blue, I felt a new surge of power within me. I sprang forward, matching Selaphiel ferocity, our howls echoed through the forest as we fought, our paws pounding the earth. The stars above seemed to respond to me, the light from the star infused my fur as my form began to shift. My body was glowing with a soft ethereal light, it felt like I had the power of all wolves as my paws made way to Selaphiels chest. I stopped as soon as I saw blood on my paws, “I’m sorry, I said as I howled.” “I’m fine.” Selaphiel answered, “That was just my illusion.” She added. “Did I fight well?“ I asked as I wiped off my tears. “Check for yourself!” Selaphiel said with a smile. I was already transformed, it felt really amazing. “I guess this is why you’re special and didn’t die after your mate rejected you.” Selaphiel added. My feelings were both of happy and sad. Selaphiel turned back into her human form as she brought out a hand for me. “He doesn’t deserve you, so let go of him and be happy for your achievements.” Selaphiel said. “Do you always read my mind?” I asked. “No, but I can hear your thought as tho you are talking to me.” “That mean I’d stop talking within my inner self.” “Heard that!” Selaphiel replied and we both laughed. We walked to a part of the mystic forest as we sat down, raking a breath from the training and feeling nature. Selaphiel looked at me, as she smiled, I noticed the smile! “Why are you smiling?” I asked with curiosity. “It seems like your fated mate have a huge part in your life.” Selaphiel said. “Yes, he acted like my savior, gave me hope, loved me, cared for me, no one messed around with me.” I said as I looked up to feel the wind. “But he put all those show, only to embarrass me.” I said as my eyes blurred with tears. “It’s okay to cry, but remember, cry a little, make your regrets short and live your life with happiness.” I wiped off my tears, “Where did you get that line from?” Selaphiel smiled, “An old friend gave me those exact words when he saw me crying.” “How do you fight back under a sneak attack?” Selaphiel asked. Her hands at her back, as her mouth murmured some words. “I don’t know, what do I do?” I asked. “Let’s see” Selaphiel answered. “How?” I asked. “Cover, now!” Selaphiel shouted as she released a dark energy orb. I quickly called out to the stars, while I ran away from the orb. “I call upon the stars, you shine brightest at night, I call upon your powers, help me.” Nothing seemed to happen. “I call upon the stars, I summon stardust, shield and protect urs!” I said standing firm as I pushed open my hands. As I stretched my hands forward, a starlight exploded, the orb’s dark power was drained. “I did it, I did it!” I yelled on my lungs. Selaphiel clapped for me with joy, as rushed towards her. “How did I do?” I asked. “You ran for thirty minutes, and was able to command the stars. You did great, but there is room for improvement?” Selaphiel said with a smile. “It was a sneak attack, i didn’t expect that.” “That’s why it’s called sneak attack,” Selaphiel said with smile, “But you did well, I expected you to plead for mercy,” Selaphiel added. “How were you able to command the stars, it should take at two years to command the star for a star wolf.” “I guess I’m smart.” I replied with a smile. “Indeed you are!” I heard a voice from afar. As I turned, it was Killian. “How long have you been here?” I asked. “Forty minute, or more!” Killian replied as he came closer to me. “I came to see how your training is going.” Killian added. “Like my training?” I asked with doubt. “Should I leave?” He asked turning back. I rushed and grabbed his hands. “You can stay, if you want!” My hands placed on his, forgetting Elder Selaphiel was still there. Our eyes locked once more, felt like there was some sort of connection between us. “Shall you continue your practice?” Selaphiel said, bringing us back into reality. “Impressed from what you saw?” Selaphiel asked Killian. “Yes, she’s indeed one in a kind.” He replied with a smile facing me. “Can you stop looking at her like that? She’s trying to recover from a bond rejection.” Selaphiel said. “I’m cool with him being here.” I said with my face down. Selaphiel looked at Killian “Do me the honor, train her.” “What if I harm her?” Killian asked. “I doubt,” Selaphiel said with a smile coming toward me. “Make sure to sweep him off his feet.” Selaphiel whispered. “I heard that loud and clear.” Killian said while laughing. “Wait, you can hear what one whisper?” “Yes, and you can too, with the right training you’d be able to hear whispers from afar.” “Can we do that next?” I asked Killian “No!” Killian and Selaphiel answered. “Learn your strength, be able to control your powers, then I’d teach you that as a bonus class.” Selaphiel said as she left the field. “Fight!” Selaphiel commanded and we both began fighting. I tried to pin him down with my paws just like I did with Selaphiel but I couldn’t. “You’re too slow, let’s try that again.” Killian said as he came closer. I tried same trick, but it wasn’t working. “Listen to nature and act!” Selaphiel said. I took a deep breath, not attacking this time but waiting for him to attack. “Fight!” Selaphiel commanded and he tried attacking, I held his hands as I swept him off his feet, though he caught himself before falling. “Nice trick.” Killian said as I opened my eyes. “Why don’t we try using powers.” He said. “Let’s try that!” I took a deep breath as I summoned the starlight to enhance my agility, combo the stars power and mine together. Killian disappeared and appeared from my back, I dodged all his attacks. Killian kept testing my limits, giving me sneak attacks, he soon summoned the Shadows. As I and Killian clashed, our powers now out of control. Killian strikes me with his shadow energy as I tried defending with my starlight power, out powers collided, striking Selaphiel. Selaphiel howled in pain as she fell to the floor, my eyes widened as I heard Selaphiel howl. “Selaphiel!” I shouted as I ran towards her, my hands trembling, the power cut through her and she could die at this point. Those though alone made me shiver. “What do we do?” I asked Killian who was still in shock. At this point, I began calling out to the stars, asking for guidance and support, asking to heal Selaphiel but nothing happened. I placed my hands on Selaphiel wound, my eyes shut tightly as I called onto the stars, commanding them to heal Selaphiel. A warm, golden light began to emanate from my palms, focused into her wounds as they began healing. Still not aware of what was happening I kept calling to the starlight. “What?” Killian said with shock as he stared at me. I refused to open my eyes, I kept channeling the stars, this time, not to fight but to heal. Selaphiel opened her eyes slowly as she saw my hands on her wound. “Elena.” Selaphiel called her voice low. I immediately opened my eyes, confused and impressed. “Did I?” Killian replied. “Yes!” Killian knelt beside me as he placed his hands on my shoulder, “You have a healing power, Elena, one of your star wolf abilities.” “How come you know much about my power?” I asked Killian. “We were told many stories about the star wolf while growing up.” He answered with smile. Selaphiel smiled weakly, “Looks like you have a lot of hidden powers, Star wolf.”
