After the priest closed the ceremony and before anyone could leave the chapel for the reception, Solomon grabbed Samantha and escorted her to a quieter corner, his grip firm as he led her to where they could talk. Samantha's mind raced with fear and uncertainty as she tried to gather the courage to explain the truth to him.
Now that we're alone, can you tell me who the hell you are and why you look like Donna? Solomon asked, his grip still firm on Samantha's arm.
Let me go first; you're hurting me, Samantha said, but Solomon glared at her.
You'd better start talking, or I will do more than this, Solomon said in a threatening tone as Samantha took a deep breath.
I'm Samantha, Donna's half-sister, Samantha replied.
I didn't know Donna had a sister, Solomon said, confusion evident in his tone.
Not everyone knows, Samantha said, looking up to see confusion, anger, and frustration in Solomon's eyes.
Why are you here and not Donna? I told your father that i want to marry Donna Solomon said interrupting her. Before she could say anything else, David rushed out of the chapel, his expression frantic. He quickly approached Solomon, his words rushed and urgent.
What seems to be the problem? David asked, his face devoid of emotion. How could he be so calm in this situation? Did he have something up his sleeve?
What's the meaning of this, Mr. Williams? I asked for Donna's hand in marriage, Solomon said, his anger evident in his tone.
What! There must be a mistake. You asked for my first daughter's hand in marriage, and Samantha is my first daughter, not Donna, David explained, and dread washed over Samantha.
Was this the lie he was going with? How stupid could he be to think Solomon would fall for that? Samantha thought to herself.
In your letter, you said you wanted to marry my first daughter. You weren't specific about the names David said as he pulled out the letter and handed it over to Solomon who grabbed it and went through the letter. He saw that what David was saying about the letter he sent was true he had asked to marry the first daughter, and Samantha was the first daughter judging from the birth certificate along with the letter.
Do you think you can get away with this trick? I thought Donna was your first daughter. You're the one who made this stupid mistake Solomon said, glaring at the two of them.
I apologize; I didn't know it was Donna you wanted to marry. There must be a way to rectify this? David said, feigning innocence.
There is no way. Where is Donna now? Why wasn't she at the wedding? Solomon asked, suspicion evident in his tone.
She went for a photoshoot that will last two months, David replied, and Samantha couldn't believe that Solomon was believing this nonsense.
Solomon's expression darkened, his gaze shifting back to Samantha. Is this true? he demanded, his voice cold and accusatory.
Samantha nodded slowly, her heart pounding in her chest. Yes, it's true. I'm sorry, Sir. I never meant to deceive you.
Solomon ran his hands through his hair in frustration as he released her arm, his anger giving way to a mix of disbelief and resignation.
I need some time to think, he said quietly, his gaze flickering between Samantha and David. Alone.
With that, Solomon turned and walked away, leaving Samantha standing there, her heart heavy with regret. David turned to glare at her. Just shut up and let me handle everything, he said, walking away and leaving Samantha alone to her thoughts, wondering what she was going to do now.
Few minutes later….
Samantha waited anxiously in the courtyard of the chapel, her nerves on edge as she replayed the confrontation with Solomon in her mind over and over again.
As she was lost in thought, Solomon walked into the courtyard to find the woman he had been looking for, after gathering his bearings he went in search of her and when he couldn't find her, he thought she had run away after what they had done but she was here instead.
Samantha, he called out, drawing her out of her thoughts as she turned to look at him. Fear instantly formed in her eyes.
As he stared at her in Donna's dress, his anger resurfaced, and his expression twisted with anger, his eyes burning with a fierce intensity that sent shivers down Samantha's spine. She felt as though he could see right through her, as though he wanted to choke her to death with his bare hands.
Solomon approached her, his footsteps heavy on the pavement, Samantha's heart sank. She knew that whatever he had to say wouldn't be good.
Samantha, i want you to know one thing, he began, his voice low and menacing. Our life together will never be peaceful. I don't love you, and I never will.
The words hit Samantha like a punch to the gut, leaving her breathless and stunned. She had hoped that there might still be a chance for them to come to an agreement, that Solomon would come to see her as more than just a pawn in her father's twisted game. But now, as she looked into his cold, unforgiving eyes, she knew that she had been fooling herself all along.
Tears welled up in Samantha's eyes as she struggled to find the words to respond. She had to give everything up, even her own integrity to protect her family's name, and sacrificed her own happiness for the sake of protecting people who don't give a s**t about her. And now, to hear him say that he would never love her, that it would never be possible... it was more than she could bear.
I... I understand, Samantha managed to choke out, her voice barely above a whisper. I'll... I'll stay out of your way, I won't ask for anything.
Wait you think I would let you go after what you did? I know you convinced your father so he would give you to me instead of Donna because you were jealous. Solomon said and shock washed over Samantha.
I did no such thing Samantha said in weak protest, but judging from the expression on Solomon's face, he didn't believe her.
Stop lying, tell the truth for once in your pathetic life Solomon yelled, causing Samantha to flinch back in fear.
