I'm not lying. That's not what happened Samantha said, attempting to defend herself from his accusations. So tell me what happened? Solomon asked, giving her a questioning look. I can't Samantha said, frustration evident in her tone. You're just a miserable liar, and I will make sure that your life with me is miserable. You shall regret every day spent with me Solomon vowed as he glared at her. Solomon, please, try to understand, Samantha pleaded, reaching out to him as he turned away. There's nothing to understand when you won't even tell me the truth, which means you're lying, Solomon retorted, his voice tinged with bitterness. I wish I could, but it's not that simple Samantha replied, her voice quivering with emotion. Enough, Solomon snapped, his patience wearing thin. I won't tolerate your deceit any longer. Okay then, since you've already come to your own conclusion, do whatever you seem fit Samantha said, her tone a mixture of frustration and exhaustion. She was done trying to prove her innocence. You're just pathetic Solomon said as he grabbed her by the neck, until she felt herself losing consciousness. Then, as she was about to collapse, he pushed her to the ground as she struggled to catch her breath. Get yourself together, we have a reception to attend. I want you to act like everything's okay because you will be meeting my parents. If they even sense something is wrong, I will make you pay, Solomon threatened as he glared at her. Go and change, then meet me at the reception. Do you understand? Samantha nodded weakly, her eyes filled with a mixture of fear and resignation. She struggled to her feet, feeling a sharp ache in her neck where Solomon's grip had been. Good, now get out of my sight Solomon said as Samantha rushed out of the courtyard, as she made her way to the bedroom to change, she couldn't shake the feeling of despair that enveloped her. Alone in the room, she leaned against the wall, trying to steady her breathing and calm her racing heart. She knew she couldn't live like this, but the thought of leaving terrified her even more. What would Solomon do if she tried to escape? The consequences echoed in her mind, each scenario more dire than the last. Fearing what Solomon would do if she wasted time, she quickly changed into her simple cream gown and a pair of black flats, not bothering to wear make-up or even style her hair. After she had calmed her racing heart she emerged from the bedroom with a smile plastered on her face, masking the negative emotions inside her. She needed to play the happy bride well because she was very sure Solomon wouldn't forgive her if she made any mistake, he would definitely make her pay. Samantha forced herself to maintain her composure as she walked into the reception hall. All around her, guests chatted and laughed, oblivious to the raging emotions within her. She scanned the room, searching for Solomon, and finally spotted him near the buffet table, his arms crossed and a scowl etched on his face. As she approached, Solomon's expression darkened even further. You're late he hissed, his voice barely concealing his anger. "I'm sorry, I didn't realize the time," Samantha replied, her tone meek as she tried to diffuse the tension. Well, you should have Solomon snapped, his eyes narrowing. I warned you that you shouldn't mess up. I know, I'm sorry, Samantha repeated, feeling the weight of his disapproval like a physical blow. Solomon sighed heavily, his anger evident. Just make sure you behave yourself tonight. I won't tolerate any more of your nonsense. Samantha nodded silently, steeling herself for the evening ahead. As she followed Solomon into the crowd as he led her to a table with an older man that looked so much like him and an older woman, it didn't take a genius to know that this were his parents Mum, dad, this is my wife Samantha, the woman I've been telling you about Solomon said as she pulled Samantha close and placed a kiss on her forehead. Hmm, I thought you said her name was Donna? His mother asked, her confusion evident in her tone. That's her other name Solomon said as he signaled to her to talk to them. It's a pleasure to meet you two Samantha said as she did a little curtsy. Nice to meet you too dear, you're so beautiful his mother said with a small smile as she stood to her feet and pulled Samantha into a quick hug. Samantha who was shocked awkwardly wrapped her hands around the woman, who after a few minutes pulled away from Samantha. She is a hugger, you will get used to it Solomon's father said as he stretched out his hands for an handshake, my name is Austin and this is my wife Elizabeth, it's a pleasure to meet you too. As Samantha exchanged pleasantries with Solomon's parents, she couldn't help but feel a sense of guilt lurking beneath her uneasiness. She felt bad for lying to them but she knew that she will do it so many times while she was in this relationship. Throughout the evening, Samantha forced herself to maintain a facade of happiness, engaging in polite conversation and smiling when necessary. But underneath it all, she couldn't shake the feeling of dread that consumed her. As the night wore on, Solomon's behavior became increasingly erratic. He would switch between charming the guests and shooting menacing glares in Samantha's direction, a silent reminder of the power he held over her. Despite her best efforts to blend in and please Solomon's parents, Samantha couldn't shake the feeling of being trapped in a nightmare. She stole glances at the exit, longing for the freedom she knew was beyond her reach. When the reception finally came to an end, Samantha felt a wave of relief wash over her. But Solomon walked over to her and held her by her arm, Let's go she followed after him and after saying goodbye to his parents and the guest, she followed Solomon out of the venue and into the awaiting car, she knew that her ordeal was far from over.
