Not Quite A Mistake

Chapter 6-Javier

I hesitantly turn my head away and walk towards the kids section.As I was walking,memories of that pleasurable night flashed through my mind and I shook my head as if to get rid of the thoughts.And how she walked out before I could kick her out,something refreshing from the other women I have brought to my hookup apartment.

I hate to admit it but she really was different from the others,even though I have met her only a week ago.Somewhere in my cold,cold heart I felt sympathy for her but shook the thoughts away as I continued my search for Lilly.

"Father,"I heard a little sorrow-filled voice say from behind me.When I turned around,Lily closed a door and I looked at her arm in a cast and face cuts all over.

"Oh my God,Lilly.What were you thinking?!"I compose myself as I see her lips tremble and eyes begin to fill up with tears.The sight soared my heart and I closed my eyes and shook my head.I crouch down to her level and run a hand through my hair.

"Lily,I'm sorry.I was just really worried about you,"I sigh and open my arms and she runs towards me and hugs me,crying into my chest.I smooth down her hair and whisper soothing words into her ear.

"Miss Georgia saved me,father,"she choked out.My eyebrows furrowed as I thought of anyone with the name Georgia.

"Who's Georgia sweetie?"I asked as I held onto her shoulders at arms length.She rubbed her eyes and I picked her up and laid her head against my chest.

"I took off from the school to have some of miss Georgia's pastries...I ran out of the café and I almost got hit by a t-taxi.Miss Georgia pushed me out of the way.And got hit,this is all my f-fault"she cried loudly and I stopped in my tracks.A child her age should not feel responsible for causing one damage unintentionally.

But,whoever saved her I owed my life to.They saved the most precious person to me.I craddled her in my arms as I walked back to the room she came out of.

"Sweetheart,what you did was really irresponsible.Not just walking a whole mile alone but running off like that.But,I am not mad.You will have to learn from your mistakes.I am just glad you are safe,"I laid her down on the bed and she nodded while sniffling.

"I'm going to go call the doctor,just stay in bed till I return okay?"she nodded again and I kissed her on the forehead.I stepped out of the room and closed the door.I walked down the hall to the elevator but stopped when I saw a nurse.I walked towards her and she turned around.

"Excuse me.Can you tell me where the Doctor is that treated the patient in room 31?"I asked and her eyes widened.

"Mr.B-Black,"I nodded and quirked an eyebrow and she stuttered.She took a few breaths and spoke slowly.

"Dr.Henley is currently in the staff room handling some paperwork,sir.I can take you to him if you please,"she said and turned on her heels and towards the elevator.

"Yes,"I said and followed her.I quickly looked back at the room Lilly was in before stopping.

"You know,just bring him up,"I said and turned back yowards Lilly's room.I have been negligent enough,I had no right to leave her there while she was still processing everything.Even if it was just to get the doctor.

"But sir-"

"Tell him it's Javier Black,"I dismissed her and walked towards room 31.I opened the door and saw Lilly looking out the window.She didn't turn to look who entered and kept staring out of the window.

"Lilly,how are you feeling?"I pulled a chair towards the bed and sat down and took my suit jacket off,tossing it on bed.She shrugged and continued to stare out of the window.

"Is she going to be okay?"she asked softly and fiddled with her fingers.I hung my head as I sighed.I did not know who saved her or whether she was in critical condition or not.

A knock sounded at the door and a doctor walked in.He had a greying head and a clipboard in his hands.He looked up from the clipboard and stepped forward.

"Hello,Mr.Black,"he cleared his throat and I nodded.I stood up and shook gis hand.He returned the gesture and I went back to Lilly's side.

"Does Lilly have a concussion or anything I should worry about?"I asked and he shook his head.

"No,we tested her already and checked her over thoroughly.She only sprained her ankle and broke her left arm.As I have heard from Lilly herself that the woman who saved her only pushed her out of the way.We have done x-rays and the bones aren't really that damage and should heal in a month or two.For the meantime,the cast should be kept on at all times and I'll make an appointment for the cast removal after it had healed.I must say Mr.Black,you have an interesting daughter.How old is she?"

"She's four,"I blankly said.His mouth dropped open and looked between Lilly and I.

"She is oddly mature for a four-year-old,"he said warily and I sighed.

"Okay,enough with the small talk.Please prescribe her medicine,I want her out of here as soon as possible,"I said and shrugged on my suit jacket.I looked over to Lilly and saw her still looking out of the window,her small hand grazing over her cast.

I sighed and began gathering her things.I walked over to the bed and sat the clothes down,in order for the nurses to come and dress her in her clothes.

"I'm probably never going to see Ms.Georgia ever again,am I?"Lilly's small voice said and she sighed,looking anywhere but me.

I didn't know who this Georgia was but I was going to do everything in my power to repay her and let Lilly meet her again.

Flashes of that woman's beautiful and bruised face as she was rushed to the elevator flickered in my mind as I called for the nurses.
