First Day

Sirius Blake heard a repeating alarm in his deep sleep, waking up. As he got up from his bed, sunlight gleamed through the small opening of the curtains. Since his bed is situated near the glass pane, he was able to know that it was morning. But the sound is still ringing. Slightly irritated by this, Sirius went outside the bedroom and figured the culprit. It was the door alarm. Indicating that someone’s outside. He opened the door with the instructions given to him by the receptionist who handled him yesterday. Opening the door, Sirius saw the receptionist from yesterday. “Sorry for waking you up for such short notice, we are ordered by the supreme excellency to teach you how to make your first morning here to the fullest.” “I see, please come in,” Sirius said, letting the receptionist in his room and let him have the floor of teaching him again. “First, you need to take a bath. We will go in the bathroom and introduced you to the things that I mentioned yesterday.” Entering the bathroom, the receptionist slid the handle of the shower, and moments later, water rained down from a round metal plate, sprinkling. Sirius was amazed at what he’d just seen. There is clear water coming down from the round metal plate endlessly, he extended his hand towards the raining water and noticed the cold sensation on his hand. It was magnificent but one thing baffles him. Where is the source of water? Normally, to take a bath a maid will ready the buckets of clean water for them to use and used, but there’s no bucket here. There’s only that round plate on the top with water raining out from it. “Uhm? Where does this water come from?” He asked. “Ah, most of the water supplies came from the water plant.” “Water plant?” “Yes, the water plant is the one responsible for pumping water out of the mountains, you know that there is a huge amount of untapped water beneath the mountain and the water plant is the one who tapped it for a variety of uses.” “Mo-mountain?” He felt dizzy the moment he heard his explanation. Water coming from the mountains is completely absurd and as far as he could remember, there’s no mountain near this building. So he asked another question. “So, how does the water from the mountain arrived here?” It was a reasonable question, the receptionist gladly answered his query, “From the water pipelines built underground, they are countless water pipelines underground serving as the path of the water. Most of them are connected to buildings and houses. But since water can’t flow upwards we used a pumping machine where it pumps water to deliver water up to the floors.” Normally, a receptionist doesn’t have knowledge about the mechanism of the water plant and the pumping machine. However, he tried to answer it as simply as he could since explaining it in a well-detailed will confused him. Sirius was nodding along his explanation pretending he understands all of it but in reality, he doesn’t. They are many few terms used along with in his explanation that he can’t imagine in his head. “Then, this knob here can adjust the temperature of the water. If you want it warm, then you can slide the knob to the right but if you want it cold, you slide the knob to the left.” The receptionist explained how the thermal changing device works. Most of this can be seen commonly in luxurious hotels. As the receptionist changed the direction of the knob, Sirius felt a sudden change in the water’s temperature. It was turning from warm water to cold water and in between. He was shocked again by this discovery. It was truly magnificent as now he can bathe in warm water during the winter season. They don’t have this thermal changing device that can change the temperature of the water in a mere second, they only have a bucket of water whose temperature is dependent on the temperature outside. If it’s winter, the water is cold, if it's summer, the water is warm. Elated, the receptionist told him to take his bath as the water becomes warm. Sirius took this grand opportunity and stepped inside the shower room but before doing so, he removed his clothes. While in the middle of his bathing period, the receptionist told him that there are two things he’ll find inside. One is bottled other in a small box. Sirius reached for it and opened the box. It was a rectangular white stone but the moment it gets wet, it turns slimy and bubbly. He moved in closer to his nose and sniffed it and a fragrant smell struck his nose. “Please rub it all over your body.” Though the receptionist is feeling awkward teaching him the basic skills of the modern soap, he must endure it to himself. He is literally standing in front of them with glass-covered curtains in between. Sirius's body went bubbly and soft as his hands smoothly slid on his skin. He discovered another precious and magnificent thing again. Now, the bottled one. The receptionist told him to just push the top of it and the moment he pushed it, a viscous liquid squirted. Just like the soap bar, it was fragrant. He was instructed to apply it on his hair and seconds later a thick foam was formed. Thicker than the soap he applied to his skin. Using the water, he cleansed it off his head and body. Three minutes later, he finished and leave the bathroom with a towel covering his lower part with a satisfied expression. “That’s one hell of an experience.” He said joyously. “I’m glad that you liked your first bath in here. Now, please wear these clothes that I personally chose for you.” He said, handing the garments. It was not the tunic he’s familiar with but this will do. It was a white t-shirt, black underwear, and black shorts. A casual outfit. He went to his bedroom to wear it and moments later he stepped out with a new outfit. The receptionist clapped and beckoned him to go into the dining hall. “Please wait here as your breakfast will be delivered in two minutes.” The receptionist said as he took one water bottle and drinks it. Two minutes have passed and a ding similar to earlier rang in his room. The receptionist heads to the door and opened it. A man in a chef uniform entered as he pushed the cart. On top of it was a food plate containing some meat and eggs. He can tell from its appearance. “Sir, this an omelet and bacon stripped along with coffee americano.” The chef then placed the plate on the table in front of Sirius. After that, the chef leaves the room and returned back to the kitchen of the condominium to continue cooking. Picking up the spoon and fork, Sirius then dig in. Piercing the bacon stripped, he took a bite— “…Delicious.” Juicy and tender pork aroused his tongue as he took another bite, and another, and another until the strip in his fork disappeared without a trace…no he already finished it before realizing it. Then he grabbed another bacon stripped and chomped it until there’s no bacon stripped left. He then proceeds on eating the omelet. Sirius knew that it was an egg but why is it folded? Anyways, he didn’t bother finding out as he took a bite from it as well… Another delicious taste satiated his tongue again. It was definitely an egg but there’s something in it. Something chewy. He noticed from the cut part that there is a lump of meat in it. So that what’s makes it more delicious. He has never been satisfied like this before though he was already accustomed to eating an egg. This dish is completely different from the rest that he might get a liking on it. “Thank you for the meal.” He said to the receptionist who was wandering around the room. “I’m glad that you liked it.” The receptionist said as he pulled out something in his pocket, “this is the manual for all the things here written in the Naltum language.” He opened the flyer and introduced all of it one by one. Since there’s so much modern technology inside his penthouse. It took them one hour for Sirius to understand the inner workings of the technology. The moment the receptionist finished teaching, he felt enlightened. There’s a technology like this that doesn’t run with magic. It only needs the so-called electricity that can be harnessed in a lot of ways. Such an amazing country that defies all of his common sense. Even the Euphoria Kingdom doesn’t have this technology and knowledge. If these two countries were to fight, his decision would be this country despite not having witnessed the power of modern weapons. Just by the knowledge and the technology they have, Sirius knew that the military is more advanced with technology. Like the helicopter and the metal stick that was pointing at them before. He went towards the window and peered down, looking at the adjacent towers like this in awe. Just as the receptionist was about to say something, the alarm rang again. That’s odd, he doesn’t expect someone to come other than the chef before. But, the receptionist heads to the door and opened it to know who that is…Behind the door were two men in black wearing sunglasses, showing him a badge of a sophisticated agency. “We’re the security of the supreme excellency, if you recognized this badge then get out of here. We need a moment with Sirius Blake, His supreme excellency ordered us here.” The receptionist recognized that badge, it was really the security of his supreme excellency. If they want something from Sirius, then he’s out of here. “Okay, please come in.” The moment the two men in black stepped inside the penthouse, the receptionist took his leave. Sirius turned around and saw not the receptionist but two new figures wearing a suit in black. “Who are you?” “We are from the White House; we need you to get ready ASAP as His supreme excellency wants to meet you.”
