My Safe Haven

Chapter 4

[ Present Day]

Sabrina had gather herself together from the bathroom, she started to wonder around the home. She was drawn into the room with glass stain windows and it had a door to the outside. The room sat in the back of the house down the hall from the kitchen and in the middle was the bathroom.

I actual wonder if she’ll left me pick out my room this time.

At least, for this stay I’ll enjoy the room I’m in. Sabrina had thought to herself.

The room felt calm and peaceful with sunlight that burst threw the window.

“It would actually be quite nice if I could live here permanently if I could never return to my grandparents home.” She quietly spoke out loud. “Ouu let me take a picture and send grandfather.”

As she took the picture of the room with the stain glass and door that let outside, she notice how even the picture looked as if the room had a filter on it. The room was bright and beautiful. She sent the photo and texted hopefully I can get this room lol.

As soon as she sent her text within the next three minutes her phone ring.

“Ring, Ring, Ring.”

“HEY! Grandfather!” Sabrina burst into cheers.

“Hey little lady, I’m guessing y’all arrived in your new home. How does it look?” Gerald ask quite curiously knowing that the last home her mother had her in was almost close to a crack house.

Sabrina replied to her grandfather “To be rather honest it’s not the usual home she normally gets, I really hope it’s not a mistake for us to be here. The yard is really unkept but it’s no problem I know how to fix that.” They both laugh cause Sabrina hated yard work but always made sure to help her grandfather when she was around. They chatted for awhile then he proceeded to tell her he must return driving and he would call her soon.

Meanwhile Charlie phone rung.

“Hey Mr. Thomason,” Charlie replied in a shock.

“Hey Charlie, sorry if I inconvenience you at this time I was just curious if you been by Jackie new house.” Gerald ask sternly.

“Yeah I’m here now is everything okay, is there anything you need me to do.” Charlie ask very curiously.

“How does the house look?” Gerald ask straight forward.

“To be quiet frank with you it’s nice, the yard to very unkept but the inside look lovely and very nice.”Charlie lit up.

“Good very good. If you don’t mind can I ask you a favor, Would you mind helping Sabrina do the yard? She very eager to do things herself and I don’t want her getting hurt.” Gerald stated.

“No problem at all sir. Can I ask you a question tho?”

Charlie waited for a reply and spoke “Is Bri getting help cause she really needs it. I ask her how she was doing and her eyes filled with water and walked in the house.” I gave Jackie money to get her some counseling and she just said to stay out of it. I’m not trynna tell anyone how to parent I’m just concerned, and I wanna help Bri get help.” Charlie said sadly.

“ I understand where you are coming from”.

Gerald sighed.

In response to Charlie, Gerald stated “ I don’t think she is and I don’t know if it’s because she doesn’t want to or if because Jackie never did it to be rather honest with you.”

He sighed again.

“I’m going to let you go I’m gonna figure out if I can get a someone to try to come to the house and talk to Sabrina like a in home counselor.” Gerald stated.

Before Charlie could say anything else the phone hung up.

Charlie stood in sigh for a moment.

“ You should leave if you ain’t gonna help.” Jackie screamed.

Charlie rolled his eyes at Jackie ignorance.

Meanwhile a black hatchback pulled into yard.

“ Dude this house is full with space, how did you manage to get.” Spoke the driver.

While James was in the passenger seat. James was Sabrina mother’s boyfriend. He was a skinny guy with dark brown hair who was not a fan of Sabrina. He didn’t understand how Jackie didn’t just leave her behind. Little did he realize that Sabrina wanted the same thing.

Charlie stared for a while at the car. Meanwhile Sabrina had just walked out. As soon as Charlie notice that Sabrina had just walked outside he shouted.

“Bri let’s go get some ice cream, we’re gonna take your mom car.”

Jackie looked in shocked “umm I guess but next time just ask instead of just assuming I’m gonna give you my car to take.” Jackie still stunned and stated next time just ask.

Charlie smirked him and Jackie both know that she was gonna let him cause James and him would eventually get into it in a little while.

“Sabrina come on which ice cream place do you wanna go to!”, smirk Charlie.
