Chapter 8

On the couch that was in the middle, between Cameron and Jaxon, was where Lily could be found sitting. After Cameron had been telling Courtney about their plans to go to Madusa's, one of their favourite local hangouts, Cameron's other two close friends walked through the door. When she arrived, Jaxon was the guy in the elevator who looked like he had a hangover, and Aaron was the guy whose arms were covered in tattoos. In comparison to Aaron, who maintained a serious demeanour and even spoke in an abrupt manner, Jaxon, who was the more outgoing and social of the two, stood out as a striking difference. She was immediately aware of the males' increased interest in her because of their previous behaviour. Because of this, Cameron's feelings of envy were stirred up. I stated it, and she immediately broke into a grin, just what he had coming to him. She had hardly any time to kiss anyone else before he moved on to another woman the moment he had the opportunity. Several times, over and over, I was certainly going to be a blonde as well. She couldn't help but feel a twinge of resentment towards him. Those individuals who have blue eyes and blonde hair of any style, are extremely dissimilar to her in every possible way. In every sense of the term, she exemplified the stereotypical femininity of a girly girl. That is to say, she always looks put together, from the makeup on her face to the high heels she wears and the way her hair is arranged. Everything that Lily desired she could have been but could never achieve for herself. It's possible that this is why Cameron went with her. She always managed to pull off an elegant and put-together look. Lily's basic wavy hairstyle and random makeup selections held her back from ever looking her best, despite the fact that she occasionally looked good. They didn't combine very well, so it left her skin feeling unclean and weighed down. She felt a touch on her leg, and then someone said, "So, Lily." If your answer to the question "Are you single?" was "yes," then congratulations! She shook herself out of her daydream and turned to gaze at Jaxon as she did so. The corner of her mouth turned up into a smile as the lovely swish of her hair accompanied each stride that she took. Since it was the truth, she responded with self-assurance by saying "Yes." She could feel Cameron's anxiety from a close distance. Good. "Oh! We are going to have to go on double dates, which implies that we are going to have to find you a boyfriend. The hold that Courtney applied was firm. Cameron exploded, saying, "Courtney, I'm not your fuckboyfriend." Lily was taken aback by his forthrightness. She wondered if he was just trying to get rid of her now that she was there or if there was some validity to the rumours that he was seeing another woman. Cam, you're going to have a great time with that! Courtney ignores Cameron's protestations and continues on with what she was doing. "Maybe I'll find someone at college," Lily moaned, only half serious about the proposition. Jaxon beamed and said with a sneer, "I can be that person." While keeping his gaze fixed on the television, Aaron raised his voice and continued, "She said 'on campus.' You live at home with Mommy." "My classes are still being held in this location!" "Trust me," Aaron stated as he glanced at Lily and continued looking at her. It is important that you find a real man, one who is well off enough to buy you dinner and flowers as a gesture of their appreciation. That is something that I would very much like to do for you, my dear. It would appear that you have a few options to pick from right now. I wouldn't choose either one of them, and Courtney echoed my thoughts exactly when she said the same thing. "You aren't going to be our first choice either," Aaron rolled his eyes before returning his attention to the television. In contradiction to what Aaron asserted, I do not lack access to any financial resources. The question that needs answering is whether or not you would like to join me for supper tomorrow. He ran his palm along the upper part of her leg as he did so. Lily was left with a conflicted sense of remorse after Cameron suddenly stood up and dashed out of the room in the direction of the kitchen. What in the devil could be the matter with him? Jaxon flashed a peek in Cameron's direction as he got closer to Lily and leaned in to talk to her. Courtney snorted and said, "Ever since Lily arrived, he's been in such a foul mood." "It's been such a long time since the last time we caught up with each other." In order to defend him, she stated, "He might have just wanted some time to himself." She hastily added it in order to play catch-up with everyone else. If you ask me, there is no valid reason for him to be furious about the fact that I am here. She sneered at Jaxon and Aaron, which was meant to convey the message that she believed it was likely that they were the ones guilty. Several unsuccessful attempts were made to "weasel" into his apartment. All of a sudden, Jaxon let out an uncontrollable chuckle while the two of them were staring at each other. Aaron snapped back violently, "You're the one pushing your way in," in response to the accusation. He got to his feet and started walking into the kitchen while muttering, "I can't even take a f*****g hint." As Lily rose to her feet, she murmured softly, "I ought to go talk to him," and Jaxon's hand was gently lifted from her leg as he did so. The only person she noticed as she entered the kitchen was Aaron, who was crouching over and peering into the empty refrigerator. "Cameron! When he looked up and saw Lily instead of his friend, he was a little taken aback, but he said to him, "Man, you need to go shopping." The question that needs to be asked is, "Where did he go when he became lost?" Aaron responded, "I don't know," and then he shut the refrigerator, indicating that he was clearly upset about the fact that he was out of beer. I need to get some more beer, so I'm going to the store right now. He left Lily there by herself to fend for herself. Did she annoy him to the point where he needed to go to his bedroom to get away from her? It was obvious that he hadn't paid any consideration to how she was feeling. Twenty minutes after she arrived, he was already hugging her, and she found out that he had a "kind of woman" in his life. This information was revealed to her. She inhaled deeply before taking a step in the direction of his bedroom. She gave the open door a light tap, but neither he nor any other person came to the door to see what was going on. He was sulking in a very noticeable way. She couldn't help but let out a little laugh as she made her way into his room. When she addressed Cameron, her tone was drawn out and her voice was loud. Her lips were suddenly covered as she was hauled back into a solid chest and restrained there. As the door to the bedroom was shut and locked, a comforting silence descended upon the space. He leaned up close to her ear and growled at her, "You've been a bad girl." You are well aware of what will take place once I allow myself to become envious.
