Chapter 4. Alpha ceremony

Alpha James POV

I woke up this morning hoping beyond hope that somehow I would find my mate. I want to have my destined mate. I want to feel the mate pull and the tingles that only come from your fate love. As I emerge to the main part of the pack house I just lose hope. I have until 5 pm to choose a mate. What am I going to do? My human side knows and accepts the rules but my wolf Jaxon is telling me there is going to be a fight if I choose. You can’t choose, just wait for mate! She will be here soon. I can sense it please hold on Jamie. Jaxson is going crazy in my head already and I’m about to block him out. I just can’t have this fight again. Rachel, this girl from the pack seems nice enough and if I have no chance with my destined love then she will have to do. Now I just have to find her and tell her. It shouldn’t be hard, she is always hanging around the pack house trying to get me to choose her. She turned 18 3 weeks ago and so far her mate either is not in our pack or has died. My biggest worry would be choosing someone that hasn’t looked for their mate yet. I would feel horrible for claiming someone else's mate just for my own selfish reasons. That’s why when she approached me I always told her she has to check the full pack for her mate before I would consider making her Luna. I go to meet her in the entertainment room and she informed me she still has not found her mate and she has checked the full pack already. Sure she checked the full pack. This b***h just wants the power and title of Luna she doesn’t care about us Jamie. Her wolf has never even tried to speak to us. Jaxon and I keep having this same debate. How about this I promise to let you choose her but we aren’t marking her tonight. I want to wait until her Luna ceremony to mark her. Even tho it will hurt our mate that we chose someone else I’ll go along with it if I know you have no choice. Thank you Jaxon. I love having a wolf in my head, a built in best friend to talk to and bounce things off of, but when they don’t agree with you it can be hell. “Rachel, I would officially like to choose you as my mate and Luna of the Eclipse Sky pack.” “Oh thank you Alpha James I would like nothing more I promise to be an outstanding Luna by your side.” Rachel looks like she is about to jump up and down at the prospect of this offer and I have a ton of things to do so I need to get out of here. “My pleasure Rachel, I’ll have my mom help you get ready for the ceremony and start planing your Luna ceremony for next week.” As I leave the room both Jaxon and I keep having this feeling that I can’t quite describe yet. It’s not a pull but there is someone here that is making it hard to concentrate. I look over at the kitchen on the way to my office and I see Lily. She is one of the Omegas my mom has helping for the party. I don’t know why I’ve always found her cute. With her strawberry blonde hair and her eyes blue as the ocean. I wish I could have asked her to be my chosen mate but I won’t choose someone who could have a mate out there somewhere and I hear her birthday is tomorrow. I should get her something. No that would be weird. We have never even talked before other than in passing. Though she is a very nice Omega who I will be happy to have around the pack house. She is so kind and caring to others even when she is overworked. I will speak to her tomorrow and wish her a happy birthday, yea that would be okay. I better go get ready so I’m not late.

I go get my shower and dress in a dark blue button down shirt and dark grey dress pants. I have to look my best tonight as I become Alpha. I’ve been training for this my whole life, but everything is always different once it’s the real deal. I go downstairs and head out to the stage in the back yard. Everyone is there. I look to my left and see Rachel walking over to me. She looks very beautiful in her tight green cocktail dress. She comes up and gives me a kiss on the cheek and takes my hand before I go to take the stage. We go through the transfer of power ceremony. My father and I cut our palms, then shake hands and the elders speak the ancient words and I receive the Alpha bond to the pack. After this I have Rachel step forth and announce her as my chosen mate, to which many whoops and hollers can be heard. Finally we do the pack run. Everyone with a wolf shifts for a run then, meeting back at the pack house for the for the party to start. This is gonna be fun.
