Chapter 5 :0

Of course, he knew the happy times couldn’t last forever. Still, when he woke up to Mint’s foot in his face, his phone buzzing an intense amount on the nightstand, and a few people knocking on his mental barrier, he decided it was way too early to be doing anything of importance, groaned, shutting out the barrier before moving Mint’s foot out of his face. He turned his phone off and turned on his side, ready to cosy up in the bed and fall back asleep, but Kai walked in, yanking the duvet off of them all, “Up you get all of you. Boy’s breakfast is ready go freshen up, eat and go to uni, you can’t miss any classes today. And Azure, get uo, you are the adult here, can you start behabing like one?” Azure could hear the annoyance in Kai’s voice, but honestly, he was just glad it was his voice he was hearing first thing in the morning, so he turned to face the man. With his hands on his hips, Kai had a scowl on his face as he stared at the three of them. Azure groaned but sat up in bed, scratching his head as he yawned into the crook of his elbow and pinched Mint’s leg. “You two have a guest bed. Why do you always have to sneak into here? The bed is not big enough for four men.” “This bed is more comfortable, Mr Azure,” Church groaned, sticking his head under the duvet, trying to hide from the sunlight pouring into the room. “It’s the same bed and mattress,” Kai deadpanned as he yanked the duvet off the bed and placed them on the small armchair in the bedroom. When Kai left the bedroom, Mint groaned as his tail came out of his back and shifted, stretching. “Keeping that tucked away hurts,” he whined. Azure sighed. “I know, kiddo, but you can’t-” “I know, I know,” Mint interrupted, “don’t worry, Kai will will never know that I am, you know.” While Mint and Church freshened up in the main bathroom, Azure had freshened up in the black and white ensuite, and he couldn’t help but stare at his reflection. He was on the darker side of skin tones, with brown eyes and brown hair. He wanted to seem as humane and mundane as possible, though some of his demonic features, such as his naturally sharp fangs and natural attractiveness, still peaked through. But the attractiveness, coupled with the demonic features and him actively trying to appear human, left him looking human, but the longer you stared, the more you would realise that something about him wasn’t quite right. He pushed down the feeling of other he often felt when he stared at his reflection and walked into the living room, where a dining table was at the upper part and where Kai had placed a large stack of pancakes with some syrup. The boys were already eating away and had begun to rush when they realised they would leave if they weren't out of the house within the next five minutes. As Azure ate his breakfast alongside Kai, eyeing the boys practically inhaling the food in disgust, his phone buzzed again. He put down his knife and fork and sighed as he reached for his phone and stared at the messages. There were numerous messages from Cedar, Feather, and Nether, and even a few from Yua, all claiming they didn’t care where he was, but he needed to be home almost an hour ago. Azure sighed, knowing he had kept them waiting and would be getting an earful from Feather, so when the boys left, he did, too, saying his goodbyes to Kai and asking him to stay safe. They walked the short walk together, but then the boys had to turn right, and he turned left, and with the morning sun shining brightly, Azure groaned a little. The sun felt so nice on his skin. Lucifer tried to mimic the sun's warmth on the demon’s skin when he was in Hell, but it would never compare to the real thing. When he got home, he sighed as he let himself into his apartment; Azure groaned as he walked into his apartment to see Nether still in his demonic form, floating in the air, his legs crossed, Yua sitting on the couch, and when Azure followed his gaze, he was looking at one of the shelves, precisely a picture Azure had of him and the boys. Cedar was sitting on the armchair, a wine glass in his hand as Feather continued to talk his ear off, and when they all saw him, Feather’s frustrations turned onto him. Azure groaned and waited for Feather to finish chewing him out. He called him everything under the sun, selfish, annoying, coward, a b***h, bastard and many, many other things. When he was done, he exhaled sharply, running his hands down his black and purple corset, and sat beside Yua on the couch. “So,” Azure said, looking around the room. As he went to the kitchen and poured himself a glass of wine, he returned the bottle. He walked back in, and instead of sipping it as Cedar was, he drowned the entire glass before pouring himself another glass and sipping this one. “Why are you here at the crackass of dawn?” “It’s nine in the morning, Azure,” Cedar replied gently. “That is not the crackass of dawn.” “Why are you here?” he repeated, leaning against the doorway to stare at everyone. “We haven’t heard from Lucifer,” Nether said. He was not hanging upside down, his legs and arms crossed over his chest. Staring at him made Azure feel woozy, so he looked away from the man and frowned. “As I explained to Cesar. He’s the ruler of hell. One of the mains must have gotten sick of his s**t and are probably babysitting him as he does his work.” “Except they haven’t seen him in days,” Cedar replied. That stopped Azure in his tracks. “What?” “I spoke to Orion and Puppy. They haven’t seen him.” “Lucifer actively avoid both of them. I’m not surprised,” “Lavander hasn’t seen them either, neither have Abel or Caine, and we both know those two shits are his favourites. Well, alongside Micahel.” Nether snorted. “I will never get over the fact that he named his youngest after the angel who kicked him out.” “Now is not the time,” Feather hissed. “First, Dearh is missing, and now Lucifer.” “Now, we don’t know about death. Maybe he’s just avoiding you,” Azure replied, pointing at Feather. Yua sighed and held Feather back, as he should have because Feather pounced off the sofa to attack Azure, but Yua’s arm had blocked him from doing so. “Right. So, Lucifer might be missing, Death is nowhere to be found, and Cedar hired a human.” All eyes landed on Cedar, and he froze mid-sip as he stared at the demons. His shoulders slumped a little, but he nodded. “I don’t know how you know that Azure, but yes, I hired a human.” “Cedar,” Nether said gently, staring at him. “He doesn’t know anything about me, although I don’t see why I have to hide myself. He seems to hate everyone and everything equally.” “No,” Azure deadpanned. Cedar slumped into the chair and took a big sip of the wine. “Fine. But find out where the hell Lucifer is.” ~*~
