Chapter 6 <3

1255 Words
After a strenuous day at university, Mint and Church had been walking home. While at university, they had decided to go to Azure’s place, and with the sun high in the sky, as they walked back, the two decided to stop by a milkshake shop, and they each got a drink. “Don’t you think it's weird,” Church said, as he slurped on his kinder milkshake, “that we haven’t seen the Vause twins lurking around the past few days?” Mint took a sip of his Oreo milkshake and shook his head. “No. I think it’s a good thing. The less we see them, the less we deal with them.” “But it’s weird.” “It is not,” Mint replied, closing his eyes a little as he felt the warmth of the sun's rays on his skin. Of course, he was a little warm in his jacket, but he wouldn’t be taking it off because his tail was hiding underneath. He didn't want to deal with having to take the entire thing into his body, as that usually took a lot of his energy and with something wrong, he didn’t want to risk anything. “Right, but you know what’s weirder?” Mint sighed, looking at his best friend with a raised eyebrow. “What’s weirder?” “Michael.” “The human, or the angel?” “Why would I know anything about the angel?” Mint shrugged. Church scoffed, waving his hand, but he was frowning. “Michael has been hanging around us a lot more recently,” “We’ve never even spoken to him before.” “No, not in that sense. I mean, in the way he was in our class today, The History of Angels and Demons, and he doesn’t even take that unit, and he was also lurking around when we had The Fall of Mankind, which he also doesn’t take, and he made sure to get seats near us.” Mint ran a hand through his hair and stared at him; Church had always had an overactive imagination, and this was one of those times. The Vause twins not coming to classes and Michael seeming to ‘hang around’ them had nothing to do with them. It was not their problem. They just had to keep their head down, and with only four months left, the two of them would be graduating, and they would be fine. When they got to the sketchier part of town where Azure lived, Mint and Church stayed close to one another and walked over to Azure’s apartment complex. The building was rather old and run down, having been one of the few to have survived the emergence of the split. It was illegal to be torn down, and renovations on the building were limited. The lobby's walls were mainly made of the same stone as the exterior, with old wooden flooring. They smiled at the man in the lobby as they made their way up the 6th floor. When they arrived at Azure’s place, they let themselves in, and once again, they were greeted by a scene of the knights arguing with one another. The knights paused their argument, saw it was them, and continued arguing. Mint watched. With Church having seen Nether, he approached the man and began annoying him without hesitance. Mint remained near the apartment's entryway, unsure why they were arguing or what he meant to do. “You should be more worried!” screamed Feather. Yua, who Azure had referred to before as the silent knight, was holding him back. The scene was a little amusing to him. Feather was a short man, decked out in leather and chains and held back by a tall man in the plainest outfit with a blank expression. Cedar was quietly watching the entire thing play out from the armchair, and after refilling his wine glass, he continued sipping from it periodically. Meanwhile, Nether was now annoyed by his best friend. Azure groaned, rubbing the bridge of his nose. “I said I would look into it later.” “When is later?” “Later is later,” Feather screamed in annoyance and tried to lunge at Azure again, but Yua shifted his balance a little to hold the shorter man well within his grasp. Mint sighed. Was this his life now? Peacefulness is at Kai’s place, and chaos is at Azure’s place. He stared at the silent knight and tilted his head a little. Something about yua, Mint was sure that is what he was called, so he stared at him a little, dazed. Mintm was surprised at being caught, so he smiled awkwardly before quickly walking into the kitchen to make himself a snack. “Mint!” Nether screamed. “Take your unruly friend with you.” Mint sighed, and he paused, raiding the pantry to come into the corner where Nether had been floating, legs crossed, and he grabbed Church by the ear and dragged the human into the kitchen with him. “You have to leae hi aline, Church.” “But he’s so cool. His skin is red, and he had horns and tails. He won’t let me touch either though, do you think his horns feel like human bones? Or maybe leather? And what about his tail? Is it soft? Or, not to mebtiun his eyes, he has really pretty eyes. I wanted to ask about Hell, and the stars and the galaxies.” “He’s a demon, nit an angel.” “Oh, speaking of that, do you think he;s a full blooded denim? Or do you think he was an angel who rebelled? I should ask.” Mint grabbed Church by the collar when the man turned around and glared at him. “You will not. Now, let’s eat and go over to Kai’s place. We need to study up on the split, and don’t you have an exam coming up that you need ro study for?” Church slumped at the thought of having to study, but he said nothing against it. After raiding the pantry, they made another snack plate with some chocolate, a crisp bag, some nuts, and a banana. They did some of everything after eating in the kitchen because they could still hear them arguing. Cedar walked into the kitchen with a small smile, and Mint realised that whenever they smiled, his eyes closed. “Hi, Cedar,” Mint said, unsure what to do or say in a situation like this. “Hi, Mint and Church. No need to walk on eggshells around me, but can you pass me the other wine bottle.” Church stared at him incredulously. “You finished the other one?” “Sure did,” he replied, with his smile. Looking at the man, Mint, unsure if it was in awe or shock, returned to the pantry and handed him another wine bottle. Cedar wiped his hands on his pale pants before taking the bottle. He raised it before returning to the lounge room and taking his seat. “We’re going to Kai’s,” Mint deadpanned, “But Nether’s not at Kai’s.” “Exactly. We need to study.” Mint grabbed Church by the arm, dragged him past Nether, and pushed him out of the door. He walked back in and whistled to get everyone’s attention. “Church and I are going to Kai’s. When this whole s**t show is over, let us know.” ~*~
