Chapter 7 <3

After the boys left, Azure continued to argue with the knights. Why did they not understand that chances were Lucifer was fine, he was fine, Death had just gotten sick of Feather, and nothing out of the ordinary was happening? Why wasn’t he allowed a few years in peace? Why did something always have to be happening, and why was he always the one who had to deal with it? “Death is missing!” Feather snapped, and Azure continued to stare blankly at the man. This had been going on for the past hour now. “No,” he replied, rubbing the bridge of his nose. “He’s not missing, Feather. He’s probably actively avoiding you, because you’ve been leading him on for decades.” “The flowers disappeared.” “So?” Cedar, who had now finished two bottles of wine, stood up from the armchair, stumbling a little. He giggled softly as he stumbled over to the kitchen and returned another bottle of wine. Azure really should have told him he had enough to drink, but from the look on the man’s face, something was eating away at him, and he had a vague idea of what it could have been, but he honestly had no time to deal with Cedar’s existential crisis right now, What caught Azure off guard, to the point where he zoned out of Feather yelling at him, was someone pounding on his mental barrier. He frowned a little, and when he let the demon in, he was surprised to hear Mint’s panicked voice echo around in his brain. “Azure!” he yelled. “Azure, help. Kai,” he said, out of breath. “Kai is-” Azure didn’t wait for Mint to finish his sentence. Instead, he created a portal in his living room. The others, who were now silently watching him, frowned. “Where the hell are you going?” Nether hissed. “In case you missed the memo-” Azure also didn’t wait for Nether to finish his bitchfit before he stepped into the portal, unaware that the others, at the last possible second, had also jumped in with him. With the number of people coming through, Azure fell onto the ground in the living room, the rest piling on top of them, and when Yua finally fell through, they all screamed to move, but they weren’t fast enough. Yua finished off the demon pile, and a groan was heard from everyone under him. They all stood up, wiping imaginary dust off of themselves, and Azure looked around the room, and it was a mess. The coffee table was broken, the bookshelf toppled over, leaving books in various states, some closed, others half open on the pages, and flower vases shattered on the ground. Azure whirled around, and he found Mint and Church bound and gagged in the corner, and Kai was being held at knifepoint, three demons surrounding him. But Kai, despite being in his pyjamas, which weren’t blessed, and his mouth taped shut didn’t look panicked, nor was he scared. He stared blankly at the ground before him, and Azure realised something wasn’t right. Nether went over to the boys, and he killed the demon who was standing guard over them without blinking an eye, his corpse hitting the ground, pale. He undid the bindings on both bots, and Mint stared at Azure blankly as he rubbed his wrists. “You overshot the portal by miles.” “I was panicking.” “Mhm.” When the tape had been ripped off of Church’s mouth, he inhaled and exhaled deeply through his mouth before looking around. “Oh, hi, Mr Azure, Mr Cedar, Mr Feather, Mr Nether and Mr Yua. Thank you for coming to help. Also, Mr Nether, the corpse, how did you kill him? He looks oddly pale.” Church squatted down beside the dead demon and touched him. “Oh, wow. He’s freezing.” He peeked under his shirt, “Oh, and there’s no veins. Did you do something to his blood? Oh, that’s so cool.” Nether stared blankly at the man before taking the tape and putting it over his mouth again. Azure was staring at the two demons holding Kai, and he realised he recognised them, at least the woman holding the knife. She had been the one in the elevator, the one who had been annoyed he’d been with a priest. He couldn’t think straight; his head was spinning. A demon, multiple demons, were all here, and they were going to harm Kai, someone he had spent so long protecting, and it was his fault. And Kai didn't even seem to notice, or maybe he didn't care, but he couldn’t exorcist them. They had taped his mouth shut, so they must have done some research into what type of priest he indeed was, and Kai was in danger. He was in so much danger, and what had he done to help him? “Let go of him,” Azure hissed, glaring at her. “He’s made you weak,” she responded, staring at Azure. “You used to be so strong, so powerful. A Knight of Hell, you've changed since you met this human. You’ve been fraternising with the enemy, making you weaker.” “I am still strong enough to kill you and make it painful in every single way, and I will do that if you don’t put the knife down and step away from him.” Except she did the exact opposite of what he had asked; she went out of her way to dig the knife deeper into his skin, drawing blood, but even then, Kai didn’t flinch. He continued staring blankly at the ground. Azure snapped. He was in front of the demon in seconds. He grabbed her by the neck, lifting her off of the ground, picking her up, and she tried to kick him, but he didn’t release her. Instead, he broke her femur, and then her fingers, and her wrist, bone by bone. He spent his time snapping each one individually, her screams still not snapping Kai out of whatever trance he was in. Having seen Azure torturing the demon, Feather decided he wanted in on the action and made the other demon combust, blood splattering on him: Kai, the boys, the ground and the floor. Groans were heard as Nether cussed Feather out for having used such a bloody method. Azure finally killed the woman, and her corpse dropped to the ground with a dull thud. With the final demon dead, Kai snapped out of his trance, and he looked around, seeing his apartment covered in blood, them all covered in blood, and three dead demons on the ground. “Shit.” ~*~
