Luna Mildred

1046 Words
Reaching the Luna's room, she kicked the door open and threw the tray at the startled Luna. Raliana was quick to react, taking the hit instead of her master. She immediately fell to the ground and passed out from the impact. Luna Mildred was furious by this new boldness from Hailey, that she put down the book she was reading and rose from the couch. "What's the meaning of this, Hailey?" she asked with a scowl. "It's what you think it is, Luna. I don't care what happens to me at this point since I'm already a walking corpse in your eyes. But let this sink in. I will never be my sister's substitute!" she stressed the last sentence before turning to leave. "And where do you think you're going, you bastard child?" the incensed Luna spat. Half shrugging, Hailey replied, "To my room," Harrumphing, Luna Mildred clapped twice and two pack guards stormed into the room, wearing blank faces. "You will reside in the dungeon until you come to your senses, Hailey," the Luna declared. Just then, a male servant rushed in and knelt before the Luna, breathing heavily. "What is it?" the Luna questioned in an irked tone. "Princess Emily…" Immediately, Luna Mildred became anxious, "What about her?" "She's unconscious after hitting her head on the wall," "What? How did that happen?" she asked worriedly. "I pushed her, but don’t worry Emily is an attention seeker w***e. She won’t need anyones help" Hailey said without remorse before turning to the guards, "And you don't need to drag me to the dungeon. I know the way and can walk by myself," Harrumphing, Hailey stormed out of the room, with the guards following closely after her, heading to the dungeon. She knew without a doubt that she was going to be tortured but she was already determined. She would not pretend to be that vile Emily and replace her as a bride! Seeing that Hailey was gone, the Luna asked how Emily really was and the servant smugly replied that Emily was fine and then stood up to whisper something to the Luna before scurrying out of the room with Raliana in his arms. He was taking her to the pack hospital for treatment. Luna Mildred sat on the couch again with her legs crossed and continued reading the book while two maids rushed in to clear the mess that Hailey had made earlier. When they were done, they bowed and scurried out of the room. The Luna smirked as she recalled what happened days ago… ~~~~Flashback~~~~ 2 days earlier… Royal palace, Alpha's Study. "Luna, please you can't just go in. The Alpha king has instructed..." The anxious pack guard was unable to finish his sentence as the king's wife, whom he'd been trying to deny entrance, landed a harsh slap across his face. "Who are you to stop me, you gormless wimp?" she snapped before storming into her husband's study. "Richard, Richard!" she called as she walked precipitously. The brown-haired middle-aged man who was seated on an exquisite wooden chair raised his head to look at her but didn't say a word before focusing his attention once again on the reports he was going through earlier. "Husband, why are you ignoring me? It's been two days, you refused to see me," Her tone had softened as she reached where he sat, pouting. "Mildred honey, I've told you not to bother yourself with my matters," he stressed, placing the book on the desk. "I know. But I just can't sleep while knowing you're this burdened," she coquettishly responded. "These are my duties as Alpha and not burdens," he corrected. "I know that. Um… about the Silver Soul pack… Have they replied yet?" she inquired. "Yeah, they have. They rejected our offer of our first daughter marrying their prince," he replied with a defeated sigh. "What?" the stunned Luna exclaimed before continuing in a nervous tone, "Then… what did they ask?" He sighed again before replying to his wife, "Emily. They want our beloved Emily instead. Apparently, news has reached them that our second daughter is a rare beauty and they know how much we treasure her," "Gosh!" Luna Mildred's knees became weak after hearing it. "My Emily… I can't let her go to that place. She is a dainty princess, how can she go to that uncivilized pack and suffer? How can I let her go to do hard work and ruin her beauty? No, I can't let that happen. Richard, please don't do this to our daughter, I beg you," tears had begun to roll down her cheeks. Touched and feeling remorse for having made his beautiful wife cry, he rose and walked to her. Frittering no time, he helped her sit on the white couch opposite and dried her tears with an embroidered hanky. "Cry no more, my dear. I love Emily as much as you do and I promise, I'll try to work up a solution to this," he said softly. She looked at him, "Husband, if they are adamant on Emily, why don't we send Emily elsewhere to be safe and then send Hailey instead," "You mean we should get her to pretend to be Emily?" the king questioned. Nodding, she responded, "Affirmative, honey. Inform Hailey on time so that she can be prepared for the marriage. On the big day, we'll send Emily abroad to reside in my old friend's residence with a fake identity. Then we spread news two days later that Hailey was found dead in a well and then we'll hold a grand funeral service for her. Meanwhile, Hailey would already be in Silver Soul and dead on the wedding night," Hearing this, the king sagely nodded, even applauding her cleverness, "That is a good idea. That pack lives like our forefathers and they don't know how Emily really looks which is an advantage to us," He excitedly made her stand and did a small dance with her, "Consider it done my dear Luna," he pledged smilingly. ~~~~ End of Flashback~~~~ Luna Mildred drank from the wineglass with triumph evident in her eyes. "Hailey, you're no longer useful to me and when something's lost its value, it gets discarded," she muttered smilingly after putting down the now-empty glass.
