Prince Zayden

Silver Soul pack. 2nd Prince residence. The prince's bedroom… The sound of a bowl being smashed on the floor was heard. In the spacious room, two maids were banging their heads on the floor as hard as they could, not minding that they were bleeding from the forehead. "Please, have mercy on us, Your Highness," they cried in sync, their bodies quaking. The young man possessing shoulder-length braided silver hair, seated in a wooden wheelchair harrumphed, "Get out of my sight, cowards!" he barked. Nodding like a hen pecking at grains, the maids fled the room as if they'd been injected with wolfsbane. They even kindly recalled closing the door for the grumpy prince. This man was Zayden Ackley, the second prince of the Silver Soul pack. Known to have a blind left eye, crippled and in poor health. Despite his condition, he had a bad temper and would often refuse to take the medicine sent to him. The ruined bowl of today was an example. Those assigned to serve him food or medicine were always scared for their life. It was also widely known that this prince couldn't go to formal school like his older brother due to his condition and could only speak the ancient werewolf language that was common in the kingdom. Prince Zayden had long complained to his father, Alpha William Ackley to stop insulting him by having women marry him when, according to the royal physician's diagnosis, fathering a child was almost an impossibility for him. The latter paid no heed to his request and kept getting him married to young noble women who eventually didn’t live past the wedding night. Those late wives of his only knew English and a little of the ancient werewolf language. That wasn't his problem, but the first two brides planned on harming him in his sleep. That irked him and he had his subordinate finish them off. The last two were naturally unwillingly to marry him but bore no bad intentions. However, the food and wine they consumed before entering his residence were poisoned. Nevertheless, he already had a bad name due to these recurring incidents. And it became widespread that whoever married him was the unluckiest of all beings on earth and would definitely not see the next day. Today, his fifth bride, Princess Emily of the Silent Moon pack, would be brought to the pack. He had no desire to even meet with this woman, but it was mandatory for him to receive her at least. His personal assistant, a red-haired man called Dario Henley, came into the room and locked the door behind him. "Your Highness," he greeted with a slight bow. Seeing that it was someone he trusted, Prince Zayden rose from the wheelchair and took off the thick white fur blanket that he was wrapped in. "How's the thing I asked you to do?" the prince who was now seated on a chair with animal skin wrappings asked. "It was successful, Your Highness. The weapons will never get to the crown prince," Dario replied solemnly. "Good," was the simple reply from his master. "I'll clean this up," Dario offered. The bits of the broken bowl and splashed liquid on the floor made the room unsightly. But the prince signaled him to stop. "Get the maids from earlier to come to clean it up. Meanwhile, I want to get some fresh air outside. Put the usual wooden dummy and pillow on the bed. I'm off," the prince took out a sheathed sword from under the bed and scaled the now-open window. Dario shook his head with a knowing smile. He was the only one in the kingdom who knew the real second prince. The one who was better than the first prince in physical combat and actually fluent in three languages, English included. *** Hailey alighted from the carriage with the help of the coachman. She thanked him for his service but he didn't reply to her. Instead, he led her on into the pack. She couldn't see as the veil blocked her view but she could sense that there were people who were looking at her. "What are you still wearing the veil for?" one of the people asked. They all knew she was going to die anyway but they were still curious to see the beautiful Emily. If only they knew she was a phony… The journey on foot from the pack's entrance gate to the imperial throne room took quite a long time; her feet had begun to hurt. She was inwardly thankful that she wasn't forced to wear pencil heels or it would have been a different story. The man left her outside the throne room and went in. She could feel a menacing aura even though she hadn't taken a step into the building. She'd heard quite a lot about the Alpha of this barbarian land. Alpha William was a tyrannical war-hungry King who ruled his people with an iron hand. Even though, the Silver Soul pack lives without much contact with the modern world, they are still the strongest and the very mention of the pack's name causes dread to other Alphas. Many of the slaves in the kingdom were survivors from packs that no longer existed. They had no choice but to bow under the leadership of this evil Alpha King. "Princess Emily, you're here," a rough masculine voice awoke her from her thoughts. She immediately knelt and replied with her head bowed, "This lowly girl, Emily Storm has come to be bound in loving matrimony to the second prince," For a time, there was no reply, instead, the aura from the throne room became even more menacing. Just when she felt she would soon collapse, the aura vanished. The veil was suddenly taken off by someone and she looked up to see who had done it. Her eyes landed on a handsome silver-haired young man seated in an elevated wheelchair, an eye patch covering his left eye. She didn't need to guess to know that this was the man she was here to marry, the one who would bring about her death. She was dumbfounded after realizing that he wore black robes, even his footwear and blanket were black. It was more like he'd come to attend a funeral. "So this is the so-called unrivaled beauty of the Silent Moon pack?" he said with a scowl, "You don't live up to your reputation. If she is indeed the most beautiful in her Pack then I’m certain without a doubt the rest maiden in her Pack are ugly ," he added and everyone in the Palace laughed out loud, before he motioned for his assistant to move him from the throne room. Hailey didn't understand what the prince said as he had spoken in the ancient language but she knew he was throwing jabs at her because of the way they were laughing at her like the uncultured breeds they are. Still, there was no time to dwell on what his words meant as she quickly got to her feet at the king's orders and followed after her groom who wasn't happy to see her. She wasn't happy to wed him too, especially since she was a substitute and the prince was a f*****g cripple. A cripple! She just couldn’t imagine what her life has turned to. She was doing all this to save Selina. "The two of you will sign the document with your blood and say the sacred vows. After that you will officially become husband and wife," the king said in English, not caring whether his son understood or not. The Beta handed the second prince a document and asked him to sign it. Scoffing, Prince Zayden bit his right index finger and pressed it to the required section of the paper. Then he handed it back to the Beta. The latter headed to Hailey who had already bit her right index finger in preparation for the signing. After the signing was done, the two of them were made to recite the sacred vows one after the other. She did so in English; while he did so in the ancient language. The king applauded smilingly and asked for the two of them to kiss. Hailey gulped at the king's request. This husband of hers didn't seem like he would love to kiss her but strangle her. "Not interested," the prince's mind linked his father in the native tongue and then had Dario push him out of the throne room without halting to listen to his father. "Princess Emily, from this day on, you are no longer a member of the Storm family but Emily Ackley," the Alpha said obvious in a sinister tone. "Yes, Your Majesty. I'm honored to be your daughter-in-law," she said softly with her head bowed. "Take the princess to her new home," the King ordered and the man who drove the carriage earlier led her out. Turns out he's actually the Delta of the pack
