Chapter One
Lia’s POV
“Please let me go” I stuttered, my lips quivering.
Yet, the handsome stranger didn't say a word, as he walked towards me. He caressed my face, running his middle finger on my cheeks.
He took a whiff of air, moving closer to me.
“Your scent” he growled, his lips almost crashing against mine.
Upon hearing his voice, I melted away, swallowing my own saliva.
He suddenly glanced in a different direction, staring at me as though he had realized something unusual. Something that made him angry, and his mood was completely ruined.
“They will take you away from here this evening. "Prepare," he spoke, and stood up hastily.
He walked towards the door, and glanced at me one last time before he slammed the door like nothing had happened.
Three days ago
I swayed my hips around the pole, the blasting sound of the music with the dim red lights fixed on my body. Tossing my hair in the air, and showcasing my behind, I looked into the crowd, staring at no one in particular.
A lump formed in my throat, as the men threw their money at me, some using it to rub against my bare chest. I was barely covered, as I had only lingerie on.
The lust in their eyes made me feel disgusted. I felt like a commodity in the market, but I dared not stop dancing.
I glanced at the clock, having a sense of relief wash over me. It was almost 11pm, the time at which I would stop dancing, and another person would take over.
Counting down the seconds in my head, I continued to move my body to the rhythm of the slow sensual music.
Eventually the music stopped, and the spotlight on me went off.
Without any hesitation, I turned around, walking towards the backstage. I had barely gotten anywhere, when my manager, Lucas, had stopped me on the way.
“Lia” he whispered my name.
“Yes” I responded, glancing at the hand he had on my shoulder. He understood the message and took his hand off.
“I need you to take some drinks to table number five”, he instructed me.
“I'm a stripper, not a server,” I reminded him.
“I know that, but they are requesting you. They are my special clients. I must do as they requested”, he told me.
I rolled my eyes, trying my best not to hiss.
“Okay, let me change,” I said.
“No, your outfit is perfect. Just go”, he insisted.
“But” I protested.
“They've already seen you like this. "There is no shame in doing it now,” he replied.
I folded my fist, feeling defeated. I walked over to the bar, taking their drinks to the table. I felt disgusted, as the men whistled as I walked past.
How did I end up like this? If my mum was still alive, then I wouldn't have become a stripper just to feed my sister and I. I held back the tears in my eyes, forcing myself to keep a straight face.
I bit down on my lower lip, adrenaline rushing through my veins, as my eyes fell on Ethan. I should have known this was a trap to bring me to him.
Ethan has always been a thorn in my flesh. Being the son of an Alpha, he was every girl's dream, but my nightmare. He took it upon himself to pester me, and make my life a living hell.
He claims to be in love with me, and wants to marry me. But, I wasn't too stupid to fall for his silly lies. I would rather die than marry an awful person like him.
“I’ve been waiting for you, my love”, he placed his hand on mine, when I dropped the tray on the table.
“I am not your love, Ethan. I've warned you to stay away from me "I hissed, attempting to walk away from him. But, he had one of his friends block my path.
I tried to shove him aside, but his three friends formed a wall around me, as he stood up.
“Why don't you want to accept my proposal?” he lifted an eyebrow.
“Because I don't want anything to do with you. Breathing the same air as you is choking. "How can I marry you?” I asked him.
He clenched his fist, grabbing the bottle of alcohol, emptying the glass on me.
I gasped, shutting my eyes to prevent it from getting in.
“You'll be mine. "It's just a matter of time” He grabbed my waist, whispering in my ear, before he pushed me to the ground.
I watched him walk away with his friends, tears rolling down my cheeks.
I was tired of being seen as an item on the market.
I walked back to the changing room, wiping my tears and ignoring the men who didn't stop staring at me.
Lucas looked at me from the corner of his eyes, and quickly averted his gaze like nothing really happened.
I walked into the changing room, putting on a pair of leggings and a leather jacket.
I was just irritated by the stench of alcohol around me, but there was nothing that I could do about it.
I glanced at my watch, and it was already past midnight.
If I don't get home on time, then I'll be left with no other choice than to spend the night at the club, giving myself away to Ethan and his friends.
I waited outside the club, with the hopes of getting a taxi, but there was none.
After standing outside for at least thirty minutes, I decided to begin the journey on foot.
Murmuring to myself, I walked down a lonely alley as that was the quickest route to my house.
The hairs on my skin stood, and goosebumps became visible when I felt someone pass behind me. I turned around, but there was no one.
I picked up my pace at this moment. I could hear footsteps behind me, but I refused to turn around.
Instead, I began to run, increasing my pace by the second.
I tripped on a stone, and my forehead hit the ground.
Upon lifting my head from the floor, I saw a man towering over me.
I forced myself up from the floor to see Ethan smiling at me.
“I told you that you'd be mine eventually” he growled.
“Let me go!” I demanded firmly, when he grabbed my hand, pressing his chest against mine.
“I don't think you're in a situation to make demands,” he whispered.
I struggled to release myself from his grip, but he signaled to his friends as three of them surrounded me.
There was no escape for me.
“Please don't do this” I begged him.
“I'm tired of waiting for your love. "I've begged you long enough," Lia, I think it's time I take what I want by force” he cupped my neck in his palm, restricting my airflow.
“Every second you scream beneath me, it will be memorable, I promise you”, Ethan added.
My stomach churned, and I felt the urge to throw up. I'd rather die than let these men use me like a puppet.
“I'll do it, but please don't hurt me” I pleaded, giving off an innocent kook.
A smirk appeared on his face, as he took my hands in his.
“I knew you'd come around,” he said sweetly.
He attempted to kiss the back of my hand when I bit his hand, stomping my feet against his.
I pushed him to the ground, taking to my heels as soon as I got the chance.
I ran without looking back because the only thing I had on my mind was “escape”.
I wanted to survive by every means possible.
I didn't need to turn around to know that they were on my tail. I could hear their footsteps, and that only pushed me to go faster.
Betrayed by my own body again, I tripped against a log of wood in the forest, my head colliding with the floor. This time, it was so hard that I felt myself losing breath and the pain spread across my entire body.
“You dare to run!” Ethan growled, raising his hand to me.
“No!” I screamed as darkness consumed me.
