Chapter One
Chapter one
It was dark.
Hayley tried to adjust her eyes to the darkness in the room, while searching for the light switch in the room.
"Where did everyone go? And why is it so dark?" Ella mumbled to herself as she searched.
Finally finding the light switch, Hayley turned it on but she was shocked by what she saw...
"Surprise!!"
"Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you. Happy Birthday day, dear Hayley!" Everyone sang as they watched Hayley try to recover from the surprise.
The living room was filled with balloons and glitters. Her sister, Brother-in-law, two of her friends and the house maids were standing before Hayley with wide smiles on their faces.
"Oh my God. You guys! You didn't have to do this." Hayley muttered, her eyes damp from the happiness she was feeling. She stepped forward to hug her sister who was standing with hands wide open.
" It's nothing big sis. Happy birthday to you. I love you so much and you are the best big sister in the entire world." Veronica said, patting Hayley's back and everyone wished her right after.
"Happy birthday sister in law, you are the best." Dave muttered, pulling Hayley into a hug as well.
"Happy Birthday! Happy Birthday!" Everyone else wished Hayley.
"Thank you so much. I did not expect this, thank you all so much." Hayley remarked wiping off the slight wetness from her eyes. She looked around, taking in the beauty of the room.
She had gone to the hospital for a check up, expecting to eat and get some rest after getting back but instead she was met with a surprise.
Hayley tried to look around, if Dante was around. He must have been part of the surprise planned right? She had her hopes up, wishing her husband would at least wish her a happy birthday today but her wish seemed impossible.
Dante has been on a work trip for a week now and she had not seen him since then.
"We got you gifts. You should open them and check them out." Dave said trying to gain Hayley's attention.
"Mum and Dad also said to send their wishes. Unfortunately, they could not make it." Veronica said, looking a bit sad.
Hayley nodded, she was not upset about her parents not being around. They had a lot on their plates and it would be selfish if her to demand for their presence at this time.
"Thank you so much for the gifts as well. Thank you all." Hayley said, placing her bag down and picking up the gifts to check them out.
The front door clicked open while Hayley was checking out her gift, causing her to raise her head up from the head and towards the door. Hayley sucked in a deep breath when the man she had been waiting for all week, walked into the house.
Dante, her husband, he was standing right before her. She glanced at him from head to toe, He was looking smoking hot as usual, his hair was a mess, his face was stained with lipstick, his shirt had lip stick marks as well.
The room turned still immediately Emily walked in from outside. Emily, Dante's Secretary, they had gone on the business trip together but what was she doing here?
Hayley's expression turned passive, she stood up straight and watched as they made their way towards her.
Hayley glanced at Emily without saying a word, her world felt like it was crashing down, Emily's black hair was messed up as well and Her lipstick was the exact shade on Dante's lips and his shirt.
Dante was giving her a cold stare, icy even. He usually gave her a fleeting stare and glance after they got married but he has never looked at her with so much Coldness in his eyes. A chill ran down her spine as Hayley tried to process what was happening.
Hayley's gaze alternated between Emily and Dante, taking notice of the similarities in their appearance.
Emily had kissed him.
They were probably making out of they had just finished making out.
They both look like a mess.
Emily was his mistress? The one he was seen kissing last week?
Why?
Veronica and Dave exchanged glances, taking notice of the shift in the mood as well. The maids were quick to leave from there, not willing to involve themselves in whatever was about to happen.
"Happy Birthday, Hayley." Emily said with a large smile spread out on her face. She looked guilty, like she had just been caught doing something she should not be doing.
"Let's get a divorce." Dante muttered almost immediately.
Hayley felt as though bells were ringing in her head. Did she hear him right?
Dave moved from where he was standing to stand before his brother, "Bro what are you saying? You just got married two months ago." Dave questioned, his tone filled with surprise and panic.
Veronica watched from where she was standing too, her hands clutching onto her dress. She stepped closer to her sister, looking confused as well.
Dante side stepped Dave and came to stand in front of Hayley. "I can accept every disgusting or despicable character in a woman but what I can not endure, is a cheap woman, a wh*re that sleeps around."
"What are you saying? Why are you calling me those names?" Hayley asked tears pooling in her eyes, her voice, latched with sadness.
"Are you going to keep pretending as though you do not know what you have done?" Dante questioned , glaring hard at Hayley.
Dante dipped his hand into his pocket and brought out photos, throwing them on the table. The photos were of Hayley standing in a compromising position with a doctor.
The doctor she had gone to take a check up from today. Her best friend - Marcus.
Tears fell from Hayley's eyes, "It's not what you think it is...." She whispered trying to contain her tears.
Hayley tried to speak but words refused to form in her mouth, she did not trust her voice enough to speak out loud.
"Speechless?" Dante asked his eyes spitting fire.
"Here is the divorce papers, sign them and disappear from my life." Dante muttered placing the file down. He headed towards the door but stopped for a moment,
"One more thing, Happy Birthday Hayley."
