The Other Librarians

"I'm sorry," Fae sighed. "His name is Jacky Neythan. Just call him Jack. He's also in my class, in 2A. I just met him because we got the same invitation. So don't ask me why did he acted like that." “Jack and Ben? Why do we have so many superheroes here? Is this the Avengers headquarters?" Logan suddenly stands up and set his sights on Katy. “Do you need a ride home, Sweet Darling? I can take you if yo—” "I don’t." Katy answers firmly. After that Logan ruffled Katy's hair which immediately brushed away by the girl together with a blazing glare. Logan laughing again like another personality, “You really are fierce, Sweet Darling. Just wait until you fall into my charm." Logan casually left the librarian's room which the door still loosely open, waving his hand without turning to say goodbye -irritatingly - to everyone else in the room. Before Fae's annoyance with Jack and Logan finished, Hector comes out followed by a tall girl with wavy black hair. Neither of them seemed to care about the invitation letter anymore. "Ez! Where are you going?!" Katy shouted loudly at the cold woman. The popular girl's next words managed to make Katy come back and sit in the position where Fae was sitting before, “We have the head of the student body here and you want to just walk out? Are you sure you'll survive in the orientation tomorrow?" "She's Esperanza Phoenix. New students majoring in science too. We are a group in orientation, but not in the same class. All the first year students call her Ez.” Like Fae who had to introduce Jack, this time it is Katy who introduced Ez. “Am I that scary?” Diego, who had been silent beside the door, now sounds his voice again. Fae immediately blurted out, "A discipline like you isn't scary, it's just annoying," The short girl looks outside, "You even has one enemy on the first librarian day : Ivy." Diego shook his head "I don't understand her." "You don't need to understand that girl," Cole suddenly cuts in, "Try using your smart brain to spot the oddities in this list of names and help us decipher them so we can quickly get out of this obscurity." Everyone immediately turned their attention to Cole, while the man and his friend Grant, had changed positions to stand on one side of the wide table. He placed the paper he had been holding on to the wide table and automatically, everyone surrounded him. "Okay. Let's find out what we're here for." Diego seemed to clench his fists with determination. *** ‘My Ot Eath Rhee Movecore’ -Light of Warzone- "Is this an anagram?" Cole touched his bowl hair before nodding approvingly at Diego, “Seems like an anagram. Can you find the possible meaning?” Fae looks at the arrangement of letters located below the list names of the invitees. The sheet really only contained school names, librarian’s name in the rows, and the anagrams. "Too many possibilities." Grant speaks while Fae is deep in her thought. "You are right." Diego nodding in agreement. "Maybe solving this anagram isn't the only way." The man continued. "What do you mean?" Katy widen her eyes curiously. “We can ask about the librarian supervisor teacher to the administration room. Shouldn't we have a teacher in charge of supervising us?" Everyone agreed with Diego Fernandez's quick and brilliant idea at the time. But apparently Diego's guess was wrong. “You work independently and report to the Student Supervisory Board every month. No one is watching you." “Oh, we just know about this.” Grant replies to the words of the female administrator who communicated with them. “Then what if there is a cheating case by students whom are chosen to be the librarian? Theft of books and theft of funds for example. Why isn't anyone chosen to be the supervisor for us?" The girl chuckled, “So in this modern times, high school kids still stealing things? Moreover, stealing library thick books, it's a little ridiculous,” The administrator continued, “It seems you haven't read the library facilities guide in the librarian's room. I'll tell you then." “First, the Azure Library Center already has the technology to prevent book theft. All kinds of books that come out of the library without scanned for borrowing will be detected on CCTV which is connected to the borrowing computer database. So even if there is a theft, it will be caught easily.” “Secondly, all of your funds will be provided from the Student Supervisory Board, and as I said earlier, you will report these expenses in a monthly routine report to the Student Supervisory Board. If there is a difference in funds at the end, of course you will be in big trouble.” Katy who is next to Grant opens her mouth, "But still, actually if there is a supervisor, things would have been more under control." The woman's smile doesn't go away, “Paying extra hours for teachers who only supervise the library, books -something that won't go away on its own-, and teenagers who have grown up will only add some to the expenses. That's what I know from the administrator of the workers and employees section." Fae sighed when she heard the answer from the school administration that regarding the librarians. Feeling that there’s nothing more to ask, Cole, Grant, Fae, and Katy give their greetings before heading out of the administration office. The four of them had been chosen to go and ask the administrator, while the others chosen to wait -who knows - the supervisor they were talking about would come. But now there wouldn't be any supervisor teacher they hoped for, of course. “Huft. The library’s really far.” Cole complained as they walk back to the Azure Library Center. Fae agreed with all of her heart. Katy's eyes also showed a clear approval. Meanwhile Grant puts his arm around Cole's shoulder, “Would you like to rest first? I'll call Diego about this." "Great idea." Katy immediately runs and sat herself on a long bench not far from the football field. The others following her. Fae sits next to Katy, followed by Grant and Cole who sit beside her. Grant takes his phone out of the pocket and search for one of the messaging apps that provided phone service. “Diego, it's me Grant. We're on the east side of the football field," Grant glanced at the three people on his left, "You know how far the library is from the administration room, right? So please understand us." Then Grant explained the information they got from the administration room. A moment later, Grant took the phone away from his ear and turned on loud speaker mode. Diego’s voice could be heard clearly, “I know about reports and funds and all about the Student Supervisory Board. But I don't know if this library doesn't have any supervisor and does everything between the librarians. Looks like I forgot something important…” Diego cleared his throat over the phone and there’s silent for a while. Fae and Cole look at each other before the short guy is called by Diego. “Cole, do you know the student who was appointed as the leader of the librarian last year? I saw proof receipt of funding last year and I really remember the person is on the same major as you.” Cole shook his head, and then Grant replies to Diego, "He doesn't know." Diego Fernandez was heard sighing on the other end, "Can I ask you to find out?" It is Cole who replied to Diego this time, “Of course. But I can't get that information today. It's impossible to get it easily via group chat.” Diego cleared his throat once again, “This is the reason we are  here until this time for today. If we can't figure it out, then everything will be in vain. I… really don't like wasting my time and other people's time.” Cole's face turned into panic after that. A clearly panic. "I-I'll try to find that name today." Fae frowned at Cole's unnatural movements. While Grant returned Diego's words, "You know searching for an information is something that can't be forced. Can't you look it up in the Student Body files? You have power over that room, don't you?" Diego is silent for a moment, "You're right." The man continued, “You guys come back here, me and some people here will go to the Student Body room. If only I am not the one that have the access among the rest of these people.” "Anyone else has access? Really?" Someone asks from the library, which seemed to come from Aileen voice. "Jack." Diego explained, “As far as I know, he is the Student Supervisory Board, but in the Health Team Division, not the Librarian or the Student Body. The entire Student Supervisory Board has access to the Student Body Room…” Diego chuckled, “That's not important. Come back quickly. I'll go with some other." The four of them immediately set on their feet. Grant ended the call, put the phone in his pocket, and put his hand on Cole's back who is still busy with his phone. "Don't worry, we'll find the person. You will find it. Don't be panic like that." Fae and Katy walk behind the two men while looking at each other questioningly. The two of them shrugged at the same time and looked straight ahead again. At that moment, Katy whispers, that seems to only be saying to herself, “Why don't you try solving the anagram? Walking this far is such a waste of time.” Fae smiled a little. Perhaps it’s the belle who got the biggest 'agree' word from her for now.
