I turn but I am not quick enough. I've got my arms by my side and my weapon has been knocked out of my hand. I look to see who has me and when I do I wish I hadn't. Standing in front of me is my ex who's is exactly like me; half human, half monster. However he loves to use his monstrous half to scare humans and take what he wishes. I still don't remember what I saw in him.
He slowly lets me go and I bend to pick up my knife. Kiaton is staring at me almost in disgust that I am hunting people of my own kind. I remind him that I am not like them and never wish to be, but as I end my little rant I begin to lose control of the thing inside. I'm barely able to keep it under control when kiaton reaches out to me and comforts me.....
Memories come flooding back to me and that's when I remember what he can do. I slap his hand away and ready myself to attack. I am confused on how to hurt him though because like me, we are unable to be killed by such small things like knives and bullets. I give up and put the knife back in my waist band and walk forward towards the next block with kiaton following.....
We reach the next block and it is now midday. There is no shadows for people to hide in and I can sense them looking at me from inside their safe houses. I look around hoping for a glimps of my father but I know in the back of my mind that he wouldn’t risk being up top at this time of day….I think he fears me but I can’t be sure.
“What are you doing aria?”
It’s the first time I’ve heard him use my name for a long time so I snap out of my trance and stare at him. “What do you mean? You know what I’m doing but you’re unwilling to help me! You wonder why I left.” I’m shouting these words at him hoping to hurt him but all he does is shrug his shoulders and sit down.
“I’m sorry. I never meant to be against you but I can’t let you destroy them. They are a part of us and nothing will change that! You think doing this will help but its only making things worse….i see the pain in your eyes, its tearing you apart from the inside! Please stop this, I don’t want you to get hurt anymore.” Kiaton speaks to me without turning around and his words are ringing in my ears. I think about walking away but I can’t, so I sit down next to him and look out to the horizon hoping to see something good.
