CHAPTER1
It was Emma's wedding day, and she stared at the mirror with her younger sister, who admired her dress from behind. She was in an off-the-shoulder glittery mermaid gown with a detachable tail, and although she felt a bit uncomfortable in it, she loved how gorgeous she looked in it. Her satisfactory smile dwindled as her best friend and maid of honor, Gabby, was nowhere to be found.
“I'm going to go live on i********: so all my followers can know my sister's getting married," Cassy said, jumping like a kid. She was so excited that one could think it was her wedding day.
“ Why isn't Gabby here yet? I thought she left to get the bouquet an hour ago?” She felt uneasy, her back slouched with a frown plastered on her face. Cassy smiled.
“Don't let that worry you. She'll be back soon." She assured Emma. She had known her sister so well that she knew she was having cold feet. Her eyes beamed with an idea, and Emma noticed it.
“What?" Emma knew that, unlike her, her sister loved to get into trouble or do what they were clearly instructed not to do. She felt this was one of those times.
“First, stand upright and smile. You look pathetic.” Cassy smiled. Emma nodded and did as she was told. She always felt Cassy knew the right words to say and was the only one who could stand her ground in the house, unlike Emma, who was her complete opposite.
“Now go take a peek at your man." She added, and Emma raised her brows.
" We can't do that. Mom and Dad say it's bad luck to …”
" Who cares about that these days?” Cassy rolled her eyes with a sigh as she was tired of Emma's self-righteous behavior.
“Who wouldn't want to see such a hottie while he dresses up?" Cassy joked, and a smile appeared on the corner of Emma's lips.
“So, what do you say, sis?" Emma bit her lower lip as she stared at her sister, hesitating.
“Okay." She finally gave in, and Cassy leaped for joy.
“But you have to come with me. Maybe when I get in, you'll leave us be." Cassy raised her hands in surrender.
“Yes, ma'am." She was happy to see Emma happy. This was the first time she did something she loved. She was getting married to the man of her dreams. Although their parents arranged the marriage purely for business, Marcel West was someone she had dreamed of spending the rest of her life with.
They walked through the hallway and stopped in front of Marcel's room as they heard moans coming out of the room.
“Do you hear the noises I hear?" Cassy asked as she looked at Emma, her blood began to boil. Emma chuckled lightly.
“It must be the TV." Emma didn't want to believe what her mind was telling her. She had caught Marcel cheating on her with a lady from his workplace before, but he had promised not to do that to her again and had also sacked the lady he had been cheating on her with to show his sincerity.
‘It might be one of the guests,’ she thought as she let out a deep sigh. Cassy’s anger steamed up on seeing how bad her sister looked.
“Open the door," Cassy told her sister as she unlocked her phone.
“Let's just leave, Cassy. He's not the one in there." Cassy couldn't believe how naive Emma was. She was mad at how pathetic she looked.
“Well, there's only one way to find out.” Cassy pushed the door open before Emma could say a word and barged into the room, catching Emma's husband-to-be and Gabby, Emma's best friend, struggling to cover themselves with the duvet on the bed. Cassy quickly entered her i********: and started a live video.
“Hello, CJ Army. Now, say hello to the latest two-timing, cheap-lying bastard who is to wed my sister today. Yeah! You guessed right. Marcel West, the Marcel West y'all know.” She moved her phone away from Marcel, who quickly dressed up while avoiding the camera, and faced Gabby.
" And say hello to the irrelevant, cheap w***e and fake best friend of my dear sister, who is supposed to be her Maid of…”
" Please stop.” Cassy heard her sister cry and unknowingly moved the camera towards her. She noticed what she had done and put her phone down without ending the live video. Emma had wanted to flare up at Marcel and give him a piece of her mind, but Cassy was too quick to react.
" Why are you crying? They got what they…” Their parents barged in, and their father charged at Cassy, snatched the phone away from Cassy, and slammed it to the ground, and their mother gave Cassy a resounding slap.
“What in God's name have you done?" Mr. Steve Johnson yelled furiously. They had never seen their Father that way. Gabby ran out after putting on her shirt, while Marcel took his time dressing up. He started to walk out when Mr. Steve Johnson called him back.
" We can't talk about anything. The marriage is off just as the alliance is off." He said and walked out, shutting the door behind him despite Mr. Steve's pleas. Mr. Steve walked up to Emma, who was crying, and gave her a resounding slap that shocked his wife.
“How could you? How could you let your little sister do this? You think she did this to fight for you?" He chuckled.
“No, pumpkin. Your loving sister just told the world that you are some lady who is easily deceived and can be messed with. Your personal life was out on display." He said, and Cassy fell on the floor as hot tears streamed down her cheeks. She thought she was doing her sister good by putting what had happened out.
“You are a disgrace to this family. I can't have you leave your stain on my name. You are leaving this house this minute." They all looked at him, shocked at the turn of events. Cassy was expecting the worst to happen to her, not her sister.
“But Cassy’s the one that…”
" My word is final.” Mr. Steve barked at his wife, interrupting her statement. Emma was an obedient girl, unlike Cassy, and that made her love Emma. She wasn't comfortable with her husband's decision to send Emma away, but she was also well aware that she shouldn't go against her husband.

Emma had changed into a comfortable yellow summer dress and was already outside the gate to her father's house. She headed for the road with tears streaming uncontrollably down her cheeks. She sighted a cab and made a hand signal for the car to stop.
“Felix Lounge.” She said to the taxi driver and got into the car with her luggage.
***
“What do you mean all the hotels in California have been booked?” Ryan Wright ran his hands through his black curly hair in frustration. He came to California to have a meeting with his father and didn't want to stay in his house, but it was only a matter of time before his father would know of his arrival in Los Angeles.
“And the house?" He threw in another question to his assistant, Sam, who had parked the car as they didn't know where to go.
“It would be ready by tomorrow, sir," Sam answered, and Ryan's phone rang almost immediately. He sighed as he picked up the call and placed the phone to his ear.
" Come home.” His father, in a commanding tone, said over the phone.
“I have a house, Dad."
“You and I know how false that is. The housekeepers already have your room ready, so come home." His father said and ended the call before Ryan could utter a word. He stared through the side window of his car as he thought of what to do when he saw what looked like a hotel in front of him.
“Did you ask about this hotel?" Ryan asked, and Sam followed his eyes as he looked out through the car window.
“Oh! That's a lounge. They don't get many guests in there." He said in a mocking tone, and Ryan was silent. He turned to look at Ryan and flinched as Ryan stared daggers at him.
“Go and secure two rooms for both of us, now.” He ordered, and Sam quickly opened the car door and got out, closing it behind him.

“Another shot, please," Emma yelled at the waiter who was at the counter where she sat because she was drunk. She gulped and stood up, holding her chair for support.
“Please, where's the restroom?" She asked politely, and the waiter looked at how drunk she was and sighed.
“Go upstairs, walk straight ahead through the hallway, it's after the last room on your left.” The young lady explained, and she nodded as she pulled herself towards the stairs. She was at the end of the hallway, and she looked left and right as her hands ran through her hair.
“The last room on my left." She muttered and pushed the door open. A man who was on his laptop on the bed looked at Emma with his eyes almost bursting out of their sockets. Emma looked at him, looked sideways, and saw a door that she believed to be the restroom. She walked to the door, pushed it open, and walked in, closing the door behind her. The man who was shocked picked up his phone and placed a call to his assistant, whom he believed should have been by the door.
“Where the hell are you, Sam?" He muttered as the call didn't go through. The bathroom door was pushed open, and Emma walked out and heaved a sigh of relief. She looked at the man on the bed and let out a sad smile.
“Was she that good?" She asked the man, and a tear escaped her eyes as she took a few steps towards the man. Ryan dropped his laptop on the stool beside his bed as he looked at the lady. Although she was drunk, she had this sad look on her face, and the only thought on his mind was to take her out of his privacy. He stood up, facing Emma as he thought of how he was going to take her downstairs without being recognized since his assistant was not reachable, but Emma closed the gap between them and stared into his eyes without blinking.
“I'll show you that I'm better than that w***e of a best friend whom you had s*x with.” She said, and before Ryan
could think about what she had just said, she pressed her lips against his, and Ryan's eyes popped open.
