Max
After Celine found out Marshall left she went of a cliff.
She started coming to the club early in the morning every day for two months straight and I had found her unconscious three times after she had Overdosed on her new drug of choice.
The main line injected heroine.
Yes she no more smoked it she injected herself now.
Her arms and legs were full of bruise and her skin became pale.
She lost so much weight she was like a walking skeleton.
I couldn't watch her go on like this so one night I tied her up and gave her the truth drug than started questioning her until she finally opened up about her life and how she got here.
I was crying like a baby listening to what she had been through up until now and deep down I knew she needed someone to help her.
Marshall was engaged and well on the surface he seems to be happy je is almost always high and that's how I knew he was having a hard time getting over Celine.
And honestly when Celine isn't high she is a wonderful person.
She is funny and sweet, honest and caring and her heart is strong but soft.
I had slowly started understanding why Marshall fell deeply in love with her because truth be told...
I was now knee deep in love with her and this was going to make things very complicated.
I wasn't a drug user but I was a dealer and I was amongst the highest level of dealers.
Marshall and hus family practically raised me so I had a heavy depth to repay towards them.
But unfortunately love isn't something you can just not fall into.
Its something that happens unexpectedly and well with Celine it was just that.
I slowly got Celine back on track, and although she still used drugs she wasn't using it as often anymore and mostly only when s**t was going down in her life.
And tonight was one of the first times I saw her younger brother.
William.
She has told me some many things about him and I knew he was her ticket out of this life, she just hasn't realized it yet.
She walked in and I saw a small boy with red hair and freckles pop out from under her arm.
His eyes were closed.
She must want to protect him.
She closed the blinds and than in a soft whisper told me to pack uo my supplies.
I did as she asked.
She walked over and told him to open his eyes.
Deep sea blue eyes looked up at me and he literally jumped behind Celine.
She spoke to him softly.
Like a mother would to her child.
She was definitely going to be a great mother.
I thought as I watched her settled him on the sofa the phone in his hands.
She walked over to me.
She started telling me what happened earlier at home and like I said I just knew keeping William safe would be her ticket to freedom.
I got uo and called max.
Yes.
I knew she didn't want him to know what's happening in her life but I had to at least give him some hope.
After two rings Marshall picked up.
I got angry right away.
He was definitely high again.
God damit.
I have practically Begged him to stop and straighten out but he is so f*****g stubborn.
I decided to forget about him.
He wasn't the only one who could help Celine.
And although I knew I was risking our friendship I couldn't let Celine suffer anymore.
I walked to the desk and took out the apartment keys.
The apartment was bought by Marshall he was going to live with Celine there after they got married but that backfired when she refused.
She did love him but she was scared and given her past I understood exactly why.
I took the keys and gave it to her and told her I had somethings to finish before I would take her back.
I thought it would be a fast meeting but unfortunately it took like 3 hours.
As I walked in I saw William laying on Celine lap.
She was stroking his hair as he slept.
"you really love him, don't you..."
I said.
Yes it was definitely a statement not a question because I already knew the answer.
I picked up William and than Celine grabbed their bags and followed behind me as we left the club.
She knew the place was under her name but didn't know why.
When we got in front of the house I saw the sparks in her eyes.
She looked at me.
"Marshall bought it when he wanted to marry you, it was supposed to be your home.."
I said and I see her eyes become glassy.
Why didn't he sell it after I refused him..? "
I knew exactly why, and it hurt knowing how much he loved her and that I was about to take it from him...
" I guess he still had hope you would one day return to him... It's unfortunate he isn't here to see you finally coming back here... I wonder if maybe.."
She chipped in before I could continue
" No Max... You can never tell him, he is safe when he is far from me.. I am toxic and Marshall deserves the best.. Don't forget you promised... "
Now she was about to cry.
I sighed and than looked away. .
I watched her tale out the keys and open the door.
The way she looked around was as if she was searching for something, and I knew what it was and where it all went.
Marshall took everything when he left.
All the memories of that year they spent together went with him.
He left nothing behind.
As if he wanted to make sure no one ever replaced her.
I following close behind her than walked down the hall to the first room.
I placed a sleeping William on the bed and than tugged him in before returning to Celine in the kitchen.
"I will see you tomorrow, I made arrangements for you to start working at the club and I also got a sitter for William, if you like he can start online school next year... But Celine I need a promise from you..."
She looks at me and smiled...
Its her smile that gripped my heart the first time we met and I didn't know it that but I was always in love with her.
"Okay... What's the promise?"
She asked still smiling
I walked over to her and took her hand.
"You have to stop taking drugs, please.. Its will be hard at first, but Celine if you really want to give William a better future you have to fix yourself first, no more Overdose and no more parties... Promise me.."
She wants to change and this was here finally chance..
She seems to be thinking...
" I can't promise but I definitely will try, as long as I have you... Max I think I might be okay... "
I breath out a breath I didn't know I was holding.
I hugged her tightly.
It was the first time I held her in my arms and I was reluctant to let go but all good things take time.
So I have to be patient.
