CHAPTER 10 - DARK BLUE WALLS

I was with dad in the office, we were looking at the map of the pack land and trying to see where the intruders could have avoided our guards, and how they left without leaving a trace… but it was impossible or almost impossible for them to go without been sing, the only thing is that they banished, Mom wasn't with us, she looked scared after the incident and just went to her room. The door suddenly burst open and Sam was standing there.

    -Sam?

As I tried to assimilate what Sam was doing here, my Dad stood up.

    -How did you enter?

    -The door…

    -SAMUEL.

My dad was really angry.

    -You thought the guards out could stop me? I also have Alpha blood and if you don’t remember I was also trained to take the alpha position, so the guards that you have out there don’t have a chance stopping me.

    -Your attitude it's really disrespectful…

    -My attitude Dad? What about your own attitude?

I looked at Dad and he had a shocked look, I couldn’t blame him, Sam had never acted this way.

    -Don’t act like you don’t get it, Dad!

I was as speechless as my Dad.

    -You didn’t see it… You truly didn’t see it. You are so immersed in your Alpha position that you can’t see how your acts are affecting your daughter! A girl that actually returned to as she used to be, she smiled, laughed, and came to be a normal girl! 

    -She did?

Dad looked at me with surprise.

    -Yes she did! and you don’t need to turn so Gabe can confirm it! I was also there!

    -Sorry Sam, I…

    -You are apologizing to the wrong person Dad, I am fine, your daughter is now in her room acting like a zombie.. and now I get why Gabe asked for our rooms to be one, but it’s not enough if the rest of the pack can’t control themselves, and it’s too much to ask for everyone, but Maria right now can’t be around of werewolves, when she can't be around of Nova.

    -SHE DECIDED TO STAY HERE!

Dad was out of him, I could see his fangs and claws getting bigger.

    -I’m not telling you to send her away! but she needs her space and in this house, she isn’t going to find it!

    -SHE IS MY DAUGHTER SHE IS STAYING HERE!

    -SHE WILL DIE HERE, DAD!

Both of them got quiet, I could understand what Sam was saying, in the forest Maria came back, to almost her normal self.

    -But what can I do, I can’t stop being the alpha.

    -No one is asking you that Dad, but Maria needs to have a different environment.

    -Then what can I do?

    -We need to create a safe space for Maria Dad, but here it’s going to be impossible.

    -I will make everything in my hands to make your sister happy but…

Dad started to list all the problems of trying to keep the whole pack in human form and out of the werewolf stuff. I was looking at the map and then I saw it.

    -We can go and stay in one of the packhouses that are empty!

They looked at me as if I was crazy.

    -Gabe we can’t leave the main house…

    -I know you can’t leave Dad, but Sam, Maria and me can! and that way Maria has a whole house for herself and at the same time, we can establish a perimeter so no pack member gets near in wolf form!

    -That's a good option Dad!

Sam seemed as excited as me, but my Dad had a troubled face. He sat down.

    -I can’t allow that… How can I let my three kids sleep away from me?

    -We are still in the pack’s land and you and mom can come to the house every time you want.

    -It’s not that Gabe but… You were away from me for a long time and this year he has reconnected and finally we live like a family and you are telling me that I need to choose the pack or my family?

    -Dad no one is saying that you need to give up the pack.

    -Gabe I already lost you, your mom, and your sister once, and I really can’t survive a second one.

    -You don’t need to.

I looked up and saw my Mom.

    -It’s going to be the best for the kids and you and I will stay here as Alpha and Luna, this time you are not going to be alone, I’m going to be at your side the whole time.

    -I’m also going to be here to help the pack, you just need to call my phone and I will come running.

    -As you see Zac, we all are going to be here for you.

My Mom walked and hugged Dad from behind. Then she looked at me and looked at the door, I understood that I was no longer needed and as I exited the office I grabbed Sam’s arm and pulled him out of the office, and closed the door.

    -So what is the outcome?

    -Let’s wait until tomorrow morning, I’m sure we will have an answer.

We walked into the room and Maria was sitting on her bed, lost. I sighed, she really was lost again. Sam walked to her and tried to make her lie down. He sat next to her and started singing the same song my mom used to sing for us. Maria started to relax and little by little she finally let was completely lying in the bed and Sam kept singing. “I’m amazed, Gabe! Our brother really changed!” “I know Zeus.” “He didn’t try to escape in the forest, and now he even stood up for Maria!” Zeus was right, Sam was indeed changing and he was helping more than what I could imagine, and just at the right time. I wasn’t able to see Maria changing, I… was just like Dad trying to keep the family together and the pack safe. I went into my bed and slept with the sound of Sam’s voice. I smelled some pancakes and eggs… “BACON!” I opened my eyes and saw Maria, my mom, my dad, and Sam having breakfast with the TV on.

    -Good morning sleeping beauty!

I rolled my eyes at Sam’s words.

    -Come and have breakfast.

My Mom handed me a plate full of food and I could almost feel the food in my mouth. I stood up and sat next to Dad. We watched TV and ate breakfast, just us, it had been a long time since we have done this, just us. As we were finishing Dad hugged Maria, and then he stood up.

    -When you are ready, take the dishes to the kitchen and start packing your stuff.

    -Are we traveling?

Maria was confused, Sam looked at me with a worried look. He didn't say anything but his face talked by itself, he was worried about how Maria would take it, we didn't tell her anything last night, and now they are about to tell her that we are leaving the main packhouse and we don’t know how she was going to take it.

    -No my princess, you are… You and your siblings are going to be staying in a house near the main house…

    -Why? Did I do something wrong?

    -No princes!

My dad sat again and hugged her.

    -You are perfect, but we can’t keep the environment you need, so we are taking our family apart from all the pack stuff and we are going to have moments like this more often, just us.

Maria smiled, but I could see trouble in her eyes.

    -So don’t worry princess finish your breakfast help your brothers with the dishes and pack your stuff, you could come here anytime you want, so don’t worry if you forget something, this room will always be yours.

He kissed her forehead and left. Mom also hugged Maria and followed Dad.

    -So you think that we could take both TVs?

I looked at Sam and he meant it… Maria laughed. We then took the plates to the kitchen and started packing, Eva came and kept staring at me, it was creepy but I couldn’t complain, she was helping Maria. When we were leaving the room I was pulled inside. Eva was holding my arm and looking into my eyes.

    -In just a few weeks I will go and stay there with you, wait for me.

She then got in her tips and kissed me on the cheek. She left running, I was stoned, This was the first time being kissed by another female outside my family or my crazy aunt Olivia.

    -So are you two love birds already in that phase? Zac and Eva kissing on a tree K I S…

    -Shut up Sam! Let’s go!

I walked faster than usual and left the packhouse, I was confused… I… 

    -Gabe you are going in the wrong direction.

I looked at Sam and he was right. I looked at the front and just the forest… but I was sure I was walking in the right direction, my instincts never failed me. Then I felt an arm on my shoulder.

    -Don’t worry my big brother, women can make you go crazy. I will guide you to our destination.

I just let Sam speak meanwhile we walked, but a strange feeling started to form in my heart, it was heavy and I was feeling uneasy. Then he stopped talking and we were in front of a dark blue house with white details. The white door opened and my Mom looked at us.

    -Come in, we need to leave but I want to help you settle in.

We walked and Mom took the bags in our hands. 

    -Your Dad and I can’t stay here in the house, but when we do will stay in the room that is downstairs, upstairs are three rooms, two of the rooms share one bathroom and the master one has it’s own, you two are going to stay in the ones that share the bathroom and Maria in the master one. 

I took the one in the back and Sam the one near Maria’s room. Mom was helping me with my clothes.

    -Take care of your siblings, I will send food three times during the day and I will have someone bring snacks and fruit so you can eat if you are hungry. Also, there are going to be guards near, in their human form of course, but we need protection…

    -I know, all of the successors of the throne are here.

My Mom grabbed my face and made me look into her eyes.

    -No Gabe, all of my kids are here away from my mate’s and my protection. That’s why there are going to be many eyes on you because now you are far from my own eyes.

Her voice was soft, she was troubled as she spoke.

    -I didn’t want this, I don’t want you living away from me, but there’s nothing I can do… Zac needs me and your sister needs support I can’t give her. I feel like I keep falling for everybody and it doesn’t matter how much I learn or do, I never can do enough to protect the ones I love.

I held her hand and kissed it.

    -Mom you do more than enough! You are extremely generous with us and all of the pack… With all of the kingdom! You are one of the most loved Queens in history, and now is our turn to help you, you taught us to stay together and to stay strong and that’s what we are going to do.

    -Thanks Gabe, it’s good to hear you are supporting each other, family is one of the biggest treasures in this world. Never forget that.

The words were bittersweet, I know she misses her family. I don’t remember them, but she has some photos of them with us as babies in her room, but she doesn’t speak about them at all. Just sometimes she looks at the pictures and cry but only when she thinks no one sees her.

    -I think you are set, so I will be going, your Dad needs me and I must go back.

She kissed me on the forehead and left. I sat in bed and looked at the window. I could see how my mom was leaving, I stood up and went into Sam’s room. The window showed the front part, just as mine, I walked into Maria’s room and looked at the window. Her window showed the back of the house, the forest that continues… I looked more closely and could see the guards hiding between the trees, they were in human form and far enough so Maria couldn’t see them. The view resembled the one we had back in the howlers pack…

    -This view resembles the place we grew up right?

Maria stood next to me looking at the window.

    -Yes it does.

    -This place is really cozy.

-As long as you are happy, it’s going to be fine, treat this place as if it was all yours. If you don’t like a color we can paint it differently. If you don’t like some decoration we will change it.

-What if I don’t like Sam?

-That’s a hard one… I don’t think we can do something about it.

-Well I needed to try right?

She laughed and sat on the bed. 

    -I think I can make some changes in this place and make it cozier. 

    -As you wish… but please don’t turn the whole place into a pink cave.

    -That sounds like a really good idea!

    -What sounds like a good idea?

Sam said as he entered the room.

    -Exchange you for a dog.

    -Another great idea! You are on fire today Gabe!

Sam had a confused look on his face. Maria looked at me.

    -Don’t you need to go to the meeting?

    -Not today. 

I sat on the bed next to Maria.

    -This place is great, but what about the food? What are we going to eat?

    -Sam we had breakfast just hours ago.

    -I know Maria, but I haven’t had anything else since then… I’m starving.

I heard a knock on the door.
