Chapter twenty finding out

~~Nash’s P.O.V~~

I walked into my dad’s office followed by my mom and sat down in my usual spot, while my mom went and stood beside my father. I waited to see what kind of trouble I was in because Goddess knows I haven't done anything lately, but my thoughts were quickly interrupted by my dad clearing his throat.

  “Nash, as you know I'm getting up in age and I’m going to be stepping down in a year, but that means that you will be stepping up. I’m going to start training you in everything, how to do the computer stuff and how to handle the other Alpha’s, even the ones that think they can overpower us. You will be doing the bank accounts, plus handling everyone else's accounts. I will be training you on how to keep the pack safe and this is the hard part son, you need to get Star prepared to be Luna. She is going to need to start training and follow your mother to the Luna meetings, but first we need to figure out how to tell her that we are werebears.” My dad said and in all honesty I had no idea how to tell her. I mean I had no idea to even start that conversation, plus it terrified me to think of how she was going to react.

  “Dad, I haven't got a clue how to tell her, I mean I can't exactly just go up to her and say hey I’m a werebear, wanna see me shift. She would think I had gone crazy. What if she reacts badly? What if she rejects me? What if she faints or I give her a heart attack or something?” I asked, starting to panic.

  “Son, she has to find out sooner or later. You have mated with her now and unless you are willing to reject her, then you have to find a way of telling her.” My dad said and he was right, she needed to know the truth.

  “There is no way in hell I am rejecting her. I will think of something.” I said, standing my ground. I wasn't rejecting Star, no way was that even an option for me. I needed to think of something and fast.

  Star’s P.O.V

  I lay on my bed for a few minutes, waiting for everything to quieten down outside and I was almost dozing off, but I didn't want to sleep just yet. I got out of bed and walked over to the windows, pulling the curtains all the way back and opening the windows. It was a little windy, but I loved the feel of the wind on my skin. I looked out at the woods and waited, everything seemed so peaceful out there and I could hear all kinds of noises. I looked around the yard and saw that people were just walking around like normal, then I saw them coming out of the woods. This is what I had been waiting for, but this time there were a few bears and a wolf. What the actual hell, When did they start getting along? I thought to myself and kept watching. There was no way I was going to miss this, I watched as a black bear started to shake and convulse, like it was sick or something and then it started to look really weird. My eyes went wide when the bear became a human and it was Noah, but then the wolf started to do the same thing, followed by the others. I recognised Noah and Blake, but there were two others that I didn't even know. I let out a loud gasp and then hid from the window. I didn't want them to know that I had seen them.

  “Oh s**t! They're going to cut me up into little pieces, cook me and eat me. What the actual f**k?” I whispered out loud, covering my mouth with my hand. There was no way that this was going to happen to me, I didnt survive all my dads beatings just to end up as f*****g food for them. There was no way. I got up and stormed off downstairs and barged right into Leo’s office.

  “If you think for one f*****g second that you are going to cut me up, cook me and eat me then you have another thing coming.” I sternly said, with a serious look on my face. Everyone turned to face me and their jaws dropped open at my sentence, but Leo was the first one to get over his shock.

  “Hmmm Star, what in the hell are you talking about? Who said we’re going to chop you up, cook and eat you? That's just crazy.” Leo said and suddenly Noah and Blake came running into the office, but they stopped as soon as they saw me and shook their heads. I moved away from them, not sure on what they were going to do and I admit I was freaked out, but I was also really curious.

  “Alpha, I’m sorry, we didn't know that she was watching us.” Noah said and Leo shook his head as he now realised why I was talking like this. What were they going to do to me now?

  “Everyone out, right now get out. Star, you stay as well as Nash and Emma. everyone else out.” Leo said and Noah and Blake hurried to leave the room, closing the door behind them. I stood next to the door, with my back against the wall, not moving an inch.

  “Listen Star, I know you have seen what we are, but we have a lot of explaining to do and there are some things that we need to tell you. We are called werebears and no, we don't go around eating people, we eat just like regular humans do. We are a peaceful breed and we protect the forest and our family. We live in what is called a pack, this is the pack house and as you now know I am the Alpha, which means I am the leader. Emma is my Luna, together we protect and take care of our family. Nash, do you have something to say to Star?” Leo said, explaining it to me and now it was Nash’s turn to talk. Nash stood up and walked over to me with his hands held up in the air, showing me that he wasn't going to hurt me.

  “Star, I know this is a lot for you to take in, but it's okay I promise. It's exactly like my dad said, we protect the forest and our family. Star, you and I are what we call mates, I knew it the very first time I saw you, but I didn't know how to tell you or if you would even accept any of this.” Nash said, looking at me to see how I was going to react and so far I think I’ve done quite well, considering.

  “Mates?” I asked. I knew what mates were from all the books I had read, but I didn't want them to know that just yet and I wanted to see if they would tell me the truth.

  “Yes, we are mates. It's like soulmates in a way, but when we mate we mate for life. Star, I knew you were my mate because I could smell your scent, it was intoxicating to me and that's why I came and sat next to you. We were meant to be together.” Nash said, holding out his hands for me and I took them, instantly feeling the sparks between us.

  “The sparks you feel every time we touch is another sign that we are mates. I feel them too and it feels amazing, only mates have these.” Nash said and I nodded. Nash led me away from the wall and sat me down on the couch.

  “When dad called me in here it was to tell me that he will be stepping down in a year, so I will become the next Alpha and he wants me to start training. I will be learning from him, but that also means that you will become the next Luna…..if you accept me that is?” Nash said and I gave him a confused look.

  “What do you mean if I accept you? We are dating, we are boyfriend and girlfriend, I’m pretty sure that means that I have already accepted you.” I replied, still confused.

  “Phew….I thought you were going to reject me once you found out. Right, so, because I will be the next Alpha and you are my mate you will be the next Luna, so that means that you will be taking over from my mom. She will be training you to be Luna.” Nash said, but I already knew what that meant and I hated the idea. How could I tell them that I didn't want to be like the Luna’s I had read about without them finding out that I knew all about them? I kept opening my mouth to try and say something, but then closed it again when my mind came up blank. Nash was looking really anxious and worried, but I didn't want him to feel like that or think that I was rejecting him or whatever that was, so I decided to just say the truth and deal with the consequences later.

  “But I don't just want to be standing around helping, I want to train with the rest.” I said and everything went silent. Had I made a mistake by saying that? Was I allowed to speak to an Alpha and Luna like that or was it forbidden? The books I had read had given me a lot of information, but now I was wondering if I had really learnt everything or if I had just made the biggest mistake of my life?
