Sometimes you've got to burn bridges to move on...

I winced at his grip on me as pearls of blood began to form. My second mate growled low in his throat at alpha, warning him. Without a word, their wolves began to fight. Senna got in between them, her growl fierce and commanding. I was in awe of her strength. Both wolves stopped and held out their necks in submission towards her. Seeing his wolf submit, Alpha released his grip on me in shock. In that moment, I knew I could sever his link to me permanently. In the spirit world, I was taught that if you had a connection to the elements, you could summon them. Whilst I had never done it in the real world, I had known that since I was a child that fire was something I could control. I centred myself and pictured the broken bridge in my mind set ablaze. As I watched the bridge catch fire, alpha screamed at me. "I DO NOT ACCEPT YOUR REJECTION!" But I refused to hear him. I kept my focus on the bridge as it blazed and prepared myself for the pain of the rejection I was about to cause. "I Luna Isana Spencer of the Bloodmoon pack reject you Alpha Phil Bennett of Glenmore pack!" In that moment, I saw his wolf collapse and fade from the spirit meadow as alpha began to scream in agony. I wished I could pitty him, but the faces of all his victims flashed through my mind as I stared into the flames as the bridge began to disintegrate. There was nothing left of our bond, and in that moment, I felt free. I turned to walk away from the bridge, but as I did, Senna whimpered. She wanted me to cross the bridge to accept our second mate. But I wasn't ready to. Alteast not yet. At that moment, I was in shock. I hadn't felt the pain from breaking the bond yet alpha clearly had, and now he's no longer in the meadow. I know the rejection had taken hold. Otherwise, he would still be here. So why didn't I feel the break? My second chance mates eyes watched me cautiously, almost as if afraid to say anything in case I rejected him too. I faced him. The light of the meadow catching his tousled dark brown hair and his smooth tanned skin but the brown of his eyes called to me and his scent enveloped me the scent I had noticed before ever seeing him that of mountain wild flowers and icey breeze. I took a breath and sat down upon the soft grass and patted beside me. He swiftly sat beside me and waited for me to talk. "Tell me your name," I said with more force than I intended. He gulped and panic set in his eyes. "I won't reject you," I mumbled softly, embarrassed I'd used so much force previously. I began to play with the blades of grass between my fingers. He breathed a sigh of relief and smiled at me "my name is Wyatt" Wyatt paused after that as I stared at him wondering if there was any connection to him and the Wyatt Williams that went missing before his coronation ten years ago. I shook my head it couldn't be Wyatt couldn't be older than twenty-one and there's no way they would have crowned an eleven year old boy.
