Chapter 1 The Revealing It was a day just like any other day except for the fact that it was the day before Caroline's eighteenth birthday. Given this fact ýou would think that she would be so excited to be turning 18. In fact Caroline has not been excited to celebrate her birthday since she was nine years old. For the reason why , there are a few but the number one reason was that it was the day she lost her parents and baby brother. It was her tenth birthday, the day was planned with a trip to the zoo, a movie then a party for friends and family at the house. None of this happened because Caroline and her family were in a fatal car crash. From that day on it was no longer her birthday but the day she lost not only her family but her friends and childhood home as well. After six touch-and-go months in the hospital, Caroline was sent to live with her mother's sister Margret and her family. Rodger, her uncle, tried to be kind to his niece and raise her as his child but Margret and the twin boys were a whole different story. Margret and the twins, Andrew and Nathan, treated Caroline like a house servant actually worse. It was strange sharing the day of her birth with two absolute heathens. Not only did Caroline not get to celebrate her birthday if she wanted to but she was made to decorate the house for the boy's celebration. This fact alone cut Caroline extra deep. To her, it seemed like no one even cared that she had lost the only people that ever loved and cared for her. None of that now, Caroline said to herself as she worked in the garden. I am finally going to get my wolf and be able to get out of here. For you see Caroline as well as her family are werewolves. She plans to go back to her old pack if they allow her back in. Caroline was born the eldest child of the Alpha which under normal circumstances would make her next in line to be the Alpha of the pack. At this particular point, she doesn't even know if they know she is alive or not. For the past eight years, the pack has been in the very capable hands of her father's Beta, Mark Jacobs. Caroline, called Luna Auntie Margret. Have you sent out the party invitations? I would hate to have to lock you in your room without having any supper as punishment for making me look bad in front of our pack. Yes, Auntie Luna, I've mailed the invites and have received one hundred percent R.S.V.P's. Then as if on cue, in stormed the twins roughhousing as usual. When are you two going to grow up? You both are going to take over this pack soon so start acting like the Alphas you already are. Mother, we are just excited about getting to meet our wolves. We have been waiting all year for this day. Caroline just rolls her eyes at them. The next thing you know, Caroline is picking herself up off the ground after Margret backhands her. Caroline how many times must you be told to show some respect? They are your future Alphas. In walk Uncle Alpha Rodger and everyone in the room bows to him, including Caroline. Chapter 2 repentance What was that about the future Alphas, asked Uncle Rodger? I was just telling Caroline that she needed to show respect to the future Alphas, replied Margret. Personally, I think that she shows them the respect that they deserve. Isn't that right cupcake and give Caroline a wink? I will not have this piece of trash disrespecting the boys in their own home. MARGRET! Rodger growls ferociously at his wife. This so-called piece of trash is your niece, your own flesh and blood. The only surviving member of you side of the family. It is you, who should have been showing her respect for the past eight years. Hearing this Caroline's mouth just falls to the floor. This is the first time that she has heard any of this. Not only have you not recognized the fact that Caroline has the same birthday as Andrew and Nathan but also that it is the day that she lost her entire family. The day that you lost your eldest sister. The one that cared for you more than anything except for her children. You should have been kind and loving as you are to our children. Instead you have been cold as ice and the twins have followed your lead. It will be you that is groveling at her feet when she becomes the Alpha Queen of the Moonstone Pack. As your husband and the Alpha of the Stonebridge Pack, I command you to make amends. I am ashamed of myself for allowing this to continue all of this time. There are better ways to protect her. Caroline, can you ever find it in your heart to forgive this old fool? Oh, Uncle, there is nothing to forgive. You have shown me the love of a father that I had thought that I had lost forever. You are the reason that I have been able to learn what it is to be an Alpha as well as a strong and confident person. Auntie Luna, Uncle Alpha, as you well know I have never asked for anything for my birthday since I have come to live here. Yes, child, what is it asked Auntie Margret full of shame at her actions. I was wondering if it would be okay if I went with you and the boys to the changing circle to shift. As you know it is also my 18th birthday and I am kind of frightened at the thought of having to shift on my own for the first time. I heard that it really hurts and that you can pass out from the pain. I would not have it any other way said Uncle. Auntie just gave a half-hearted smile. It's settled then. After dinner tonight before the moon is at its highest point, we will all go to the changing circle where you and the twins will shift for the first time. I am as excited to meet your wolves as you guys are. As for now you guys go wash up for dinner. Caroline you will be joining us. We have a special guest coming tonight. As the kids head off to get ready for dinner, Margret gives Rodger an angry look. You may as well as announce it to the world that Caroline not only survived, but is coming of age to the killers of her family. with that Margret walks off.
