Let's get a divorce
Tracey Shaw stared at Tristan Warren's car until it drove out of the compound. She stood there absent mindedly and lost in thought until a few minutes later. This has been her usual routine for the past three years now.
The Shaw family and the Warren family were long time business partners and friends. From the moment the women of both families got pregnant, it had been decided that the children would get married later in the future to strengthen the bond between both families and also to make their companies stronger.
Both parents from both sides started singing the arranged marriage to the children since they were five years old. The Shaw family was especially strict with Tracey Shaw as she was not even allowed to go close to the opposite s*x.
On the other hand, Tristan from the Warren family was allowed enough freedom while he was growing up since he would be going into an arranged marriage later. Because of the freedom given to Tristan, he fell in love with Jane Burns who was from an average family compared to Tracey.
Since then, Tristan started telling his parents that he did not want to go into the arranged marriage anymore but his parents made him know that the promise could not be broken and he had to get married to Tracey whether he likes it or not.
Tristan decided to talk Tracey out of it then. He felt their parents would listen to them if both he and Tracey said they didn't want it but Tracey turned him down because she already had feelings for him and that was when Tristan started hating her.
They got married like their parents wanted but they slept in different rooms and Tristan always brought Jane to spend the night with him. Tracey didn't complain but kept doing her duties as a wife, hoping that one day, Tristan will come to realize her love for him.
The first three years passed but Tristan never changed. Instead, he got worse and started sleeping out. Whenever he went out with Tracey to a gathering with his friends, he mocked and humiliated her but Tracey put up with everything, thinking she deserved it for separating Tristan from the woman he loved.
In the fourth year of their marriage, Tristan stopped Tracey from going to work. He told her to be a full time housewife if she wanted to remain as his wife. He expected her to have asked for a divorce with the way he treated her but since she was being strong-willed, he decided to push her to the wall.
If there was one thing, he knew Tracey loved being an artist more than anything in the world and he believed that there was no way she could pick him over her passion. Shockingly, Tracey agreed to give up on being an artist after giving it a thought and she closed her gallery. Tristan became angrier after this and became eager to make Tracey divorce him.
It has been six years since they got married and Tracey was still hanging on with the hope that Tristan will come to like her one day. In their six years of marriage, Tristan refused to get intimate with her but she didn't seek pleasure outside even though he told her to and just waited to spend her first night with him.
*Two days later*
Tristan was tired of breathing the same air as Tracey and thought of so many ways to make her leave him but nothing seemed to come to his mind. While he was in deep thoughts that afternoon, Jane's call suddenly came in.
Jane suddenly went off the grid about two years ago and Tristan couldn't get a hold of her since then. He has just been sleeping with random women at the clubs he visits.
"Jane, where are you? How could you just disappear like that?" Tristan asked hurriedly.
"Let's meet up" Jane said and ended the call.
Tristan received an address almost immediately and left the company to meet with Jane.
"Will you give me an explanation now? Why did you leave?" Tristan asked.
"I was pregnant. I know you love me but I didn't want your marriage to be ruined because of me so I wanted to just disappear for good but I realized that I couldn't live without you and that's why I came back" she said.
"You were pregnant with my child? How could you leave at such crucial moment? If you were pregnant with my child, you should have told me so that I will shower you with enough care and get to know my child even before he's born" Tristan said.
"I'm sorry, I just felt bad for Tracey since I'm a woman too. How do you think she will feel if she finds out that you have a child already?" Jane asked.
"Why should I care about that? I clearly told her before we got married but she insisted. In fact, I think this is the best news I've ever heard in my six years of being married to her. Now that I have a child with someone else, let's see if she will want a divorce or not" Tristan said with a devilish smile.
He called Tracey immediately and told her to prepare his favorite dish. He also instructed her to include a lot of protein in the side dishes and Tracey who was happy that he called her for the first time in a while hurriedly got to work. She cooked his favorite meal and did everything as he instructed with a joyful heart.
Since he hadn't brought Jane home for the past two years, she felt he was finally opening up to her. After cooking, she took a shower and wore a beautiful gown as she waited for Tristan's arrival. The moment she heard a car honking and the gates opening, she rushed outside to welcome Tristan with a smile on her face.
The smile on her face grew bigger when Tristan got down from the car but it slowly vanished when Jane and her son came out after him.
"W.... what's going on?" Tracey stuttered.
"Is that even a question? Well, since you asked, I will answer you. Jane and I will be getting married soon because she has given me a child as you can see. If you are still here, she will probably have to live as a second wife but it won't matter since she knows how much I love her. Make sure the food is served by the time we are done showering" Tristan said and went in with Jane and her son, pushing Tracey as he walked past her.
Tracey pinched herself over and over again, trying to wake up from the nightmare she found herself but reality dawned on her and she realized it wasn't a dream. She cried her eyes out as her heart ached over and over again until Tristan came downstairs.
"What do you think you're doing? I asked you to serve the food before we return" Tristan said.
"How could you do this to me? I know I mean nothing to you and I know you love someone else but how could you bring another woman's child into this house? What did I do so wrong?" Tracey cried.
Tristan's heart ached as he watched Tracey in tears for the first time. He was surprised that he felt that way but he dismissed the feeling immediately. He assured himself that it was probably because that was the first time Tracey broke down before him. He always knew her to be a strong woman.
"You don't know what you did wrong? Did I not tell you I loved someone else before we got married? We can just get a divorce if you can't put up with it anymore" Tristan said.
"So you are doing all these just to get a divorce from me?" Tracey asked as she wiped her tears.
"What else? I will do anything to end this marriage with you" Tristan said.
"Fine then. Since you want a divorce, let's go ahead with it. Let's get a divorce!" Tracey said and went to her room to pack her things.
To be continued.....
