Tracey locked the door after her and cried like never before. Ever since she was born, her marriage with Tristan had been decided so one can say she wasted the first twenty eight years of her life on Tristan Warren and in the end, he betrayed her and hurt her beyond repair. She cried so hard untill she couldn't cry anymore and that was when she started packing her things. Tristan never bought anything for her during their six years of marriage so she didn't have to worry about taking anything he bought for her. "I'm going to spend my last night here and leave this house first thing tomorrow morning" she told herself as she packed her bags. Jane on the other hand dished the food that Tracey cooked and served it for herself, her son and Tristan. "It looks like Tracey hasn't eaten, shouldn't we call her to come and eat?" Jane asked right before they started eating. "This is why I will keep loving you. How can you still care about her when she's the reason why we've been apart all these while? You totally have a heart of gold" Tristan complimented. "It's something anyone with a heart would do, she was the one that cooked the food after all. I feel bad that we're about to eat when the person that cooked it hasn't eaten" Jane said. "Don't worry about her. She won't listen anyway even if I call her to come and eat so let's just forget about her and focus on us. I've missed you so much" Tristan confessed. "And you know I missed you more, I'm just glad that we're finally together again" Jane said with a smile. After dinner, they went upstairs like a family while Tracey was alone in her room, thinking about just how much time she has wasted on Tristan. What hurt her the most was giving up her job as an artist. At the time Tristan told her to quit, an important competition that would make her known to the world was coming up and she prepared hard for it. But she gave it all up just because he requested for it, hoping that he will realize how much she loved him. Throughout the night, she couldn't sleep and as soon as it was 6:30, she took her bath and got dressed, ready to leave this hellhole that she has kept herself for six years. She wore her best dress and applied a smokey make up which made her look badass and more beautiful at the same time. Tristan was on his way to work by the time she opened the door to her room and their eyes locked immediately. He was surprised to see her looking so dangerously hot and asked himself if this was the same woman he married for six years. "The divorce papers will be sent to your office later today so make sure you sign it so we can get everything done quickly" Tracey stated plainly. "Was this the same girl that broke down last night?" Tristan asked himself as he stared at her in bewilderment. Without waiting for his response, Tracey took her bags and left. She already called her driver back at home to pick her up by 7 am and he was waiting by the time she arrived outside the gate. The first place Tracey went to was a restaurant to meet her lawyer whom she had called beforehand. He already prepared the divorce papers so Tracey signed them immediately and emailed it to Tristan's company. She went home from the restaurant where she met a warm welcome from her family. "Mom" she whispered and ran into her arms, crying softly. Tristan only allowed her to meet her family once in a year but after asking her to stop working, he prohibited her from leaving the mansion for any reason, not even for shopping. It was like she was imprisoned in her marriage but she endured with the hope that things would get better. Unfortunately, things got worse instead and here she was. The thought of it made her cry harder and her family all tried to comfort her in the best way they could. No one dared to ask her any question because it was obvious that she had been through a lot. Instead, she was led to the dining table where her mom already served all of her favorite dishes which she personally cooked. Excitedly, Tracey sat down to eat her mom's warmly cooked meal that she has missed and while eating, she became emotional again. She tried stuffing herself to prevent her from breaking down again but it was of no use as she soon bursted into another round of tears. Her family comforted her as usual and after a few minutes, she slept off in the sitting room. "It's my fault that Tracey has become like this. If only I didn't force her to marry Tristan" Mrs Shaw said regretfully after Tracey fell asleep. "Don't blame yourself. We all know Tracey got married to him because she liked him, and not just because it was arranged. All of us are to be blamed equally because we failed to find out what kind of guy Tristan really was before sending our daughter to him. We believed his innocent look and charming smile and this is what we got in return" Mr Shaw said. "I'm going to make him pay for making my daughter this way" Mrs Shaw swore. "You know Tracey won't like that. Let's just focus on helping her become the cheerful child she once was and assure her that it's not the end of the world" Mr Shaw said. "Am I supposed to just let him walk around freely after what he did to my daughter?" Mrs Shaw cried. "We have no choice unfortunately. If anyone is to punish him, it will be Tracey. Instead of thinking about that now, let's focus on our daughter's well being. Also, we shouldn't make the same mistake with our second child" Mr Shaw advised. "Of course! I'm going to run a complete check on whoever she wants to marry and be sure to not fall for a charming smile again" Mrs Shaw declared. *Two weeks later* Tracey was beginning to get better after getting showered with love by everyone in the household. She went shopping with her little sister, Sophie like she used to and tried so many new things. Just when the family thought she was back to her old self, Tristan announced his wedding with Jane and addressed her as his first love. He publicly stated that Tracey was the one that came in between them and that he was happy to finally be getting married to her. Once again, Tracey went back to crying almost everyday and even her family could not console her. They understood her though because Tristan was not only throwing a big wedding for Jane, he spoke ill of Tracey to the public and so many people started hating her. There were death threats on every post related to her and she became scared to even sleep at night. Her family decided to hire a therapist for her when they felt it was getting out of hand and the therapist started visiting their home everyday. Tristan and Jane finally got married against Tristan parents' wish and it was the most talked about wedding in the country. Jane was a very pretty bride, coupled with her gentleness and politeness. So many people loved her and said she was a thousand times better than Tracey. "Honey, do you think your parents will ever accept me?" Jane asked on their wedding night. "It doesn't matter if they don't but we will keep trying until they do. We will visit them tomorrow since they attended the wedding. And who knows, our little boy might actually help us open their hearts to accept us" Tristan said. As Tristan said, they went to his parents the next day with gifts, hoping they will warm up to them slowly. "Tessa, how are you doing today?" Tristan asked his younger sister as she was the only person he saw in the sitting room but Tessa frowned at him instead. "Tessa, what's wrong? Are you mad at me?" Tristan asked, crouching down to her height on the sofa. "Is that even a question? Why will you divorce Aunt Tracey just to marry her? I don't know what Aunt Tracey did but I know she's not pretentious like the clown you just married. Anyway, we are no longer siblings like I told you before you got married to her. Just pretend like you don't know me whenever you see me from now on and I will like a heads up whenever you guys are coming so that I will stay in my room and not have to see your annoying faces" Tessa concluded and went to her room. "Even your sister is against our marriage, we probably shouldn't have gotten married" Jane mumbled sadly. "You are the mother of my child and no matter what anyone says, I won't regret marrying you. Getting married to you is one of the best decisions I've made in my life and I'm proud of it" Tristan boasted. "Why do you keep coming here if you are so proud of it? I won't ever accept her as my daughter-in-law so no need to waste your time coming here and I don't want to ever see her in this house again" Mr Warren warned as he walked into the sitting room. "Why are you so against our marriage? You liked Tracey so much even though she's not as gentle as Jane so why can't you like her a little bit?" Tristan sighed. "You think it's about being gentle? Tracey was a perfect wife for you and I know you will realize it soon. Unfortunately, it will be too late then" Mrs Warren said. "What's so good about Tracey? We were married for six years but she never gave you a grandchild. Jane had already given you one even before we got married and more grandchildren are still coming so what else do you want?" Tristan asked. "You can say or do whatever you want but don't you dare say anything bad about Tracey. Do you know what the poor girl has been going through ever since you divorced her? You say she didn't give you a child for six years like she had the chance to" Mrs Warren spat. "She was the one that filed for divorce so don't blame me. It's her fault if she's going through anything" Tristan frowned. "You have overstayed your welcome so leave and don't you ever come back to this house if you are still married to her. Just thank your stars that you're the only male child or I would have taken all your shares and your position in the company" Mr Warren gritted. "You can take everything since you still have another child anyway. There's nothing I can do that Tessa can't do after all. Bye! Like you said, we won't be coming anymore" Tristan said and left while pulling Jane with him. To be continued.... © Tricia
