Chapter one
Sarah's POV
“Aaaarghh! f**k me, Alec!”
My heart twisted as I watched my mate and best friend through the narrow space the ajar door provided.
“You're a good man, Alec. You're doing it just fine.” Angela's voice rang in the room.
“Really?” Alec asked.
The moment Alec’s voice sounded, my heart jumped. The pain in my heart deepened. I clutched my chest, fingers digging into the fabric of my shirt.
“Go harder on me, baby. Stretch me to my limit!” Angela moaned loudly.
I couldn't enter my matrimonial room. I couldn't leave the doorway either. My feet were rooted to the floor, hand stuck to the wall, which supported my frail body from falling.
Angela.
The only friend I've had since childhood betrayed me.
My heart was heavy with unshed tears and pent up anger. I pressed my hand tightly over my chest as tears rolled down my cheeks. I wasn't the type who shed tears easily. I was always good at hiding my emotions but not this time around.
Two lines of tears drew on my face as I watched my mate, Alec Blackwood, f**k my bestfriend on our matrimonial bed.
Alec Blackwood was the Alpha of Bloodmoon pack. A small yet strong and powerful pack that laid in the outskirts of Cravian City. A small city in California.
My name is Sarah Keraman. The only daughter of the former Alpha of Bloodmoon pack, Damien Keraman.
I was to become the Alpha of Bloodmoon pack but I couldn't inherit the throne because I had a terminal illness and my wolf, Muna, was weak. There was no way I could become the Alpha of a strong stubborn pack like Bloodmoon.
My family hated me because the Alpha throne was about to be taken from us but luckily Alec showed up on my eighteenth birthday and we recognised each other as mates.
Our bond ignited quickly, sparking into something no one could break.
He was the best thing that happened to me. He loved me, cherished me and became my solace when my family and pack were against me.
It was six years ago but the memories of that day were as fresh as yesterday. The day he led me to the altar.
The day we made our vows to each other. The day we entered a covenant to love, heal and support each other till death do us part.
I let out a soft gasp as pain seared in my heart. I gripped my chest tighter as the pain doubled. It felt as though I would pass out the next second.
I scoffed, tears poured down my face as I wondered why the memories of my beginning with Alec filled my mind.
The promises he made, the vows, he never kept any one. He broke them all. And he didn't stop there.
He broke my heart, soul, trust, everything! He made sure he broke everything and left me with an empty shell of who I am now.
I hated myself because despite all he was doing to me I still loved him. I wanted him back and was doing everything to get him back. I never thought I could live without Alec Blackwood.
I hated myself. How could you love a man that betrayed you without remorse? How did I end up being the pathetic loser Luna I was at the moment?
Warmth creased my upper arms and I looked to find a hand rubbing my skin.
“It's enough, Luna. You'll worsen your health if you continue like this.” Garrett, the pack beta said.
“Isn't it better that I die than to live like this?”
“Luna,”
“Let me be, Garrett.” My gaze glued to the betrayals enjoying themselves in my matrimonial room.
“You can't continue like this, Luna. Your health is at stake and so is your pup's.”
My eyes flashed at Garrett quickly. No one knew I was pregnant except the doctor and I.
“I knew…from this.” His hand extended a paper to me. It was my pregnancy report from the pack hospital. “I'm sorry, Luna. I wasn't intruding. I picked it from the floor where you're standing now.”
I looked down at the floor as I remembered the reason I came here.
I came to bring Alec the good news that I finally took in after fifteen miscarriages and a long year of no conception.
I'd anticipated that if he knew I was pregnant. His affection would return to me and he would cherish me like before.
But it ended in another shock for me.
I snatched the report from Garrett’s hand, turning to leave when my vision swirled violently before turning black and my feet gave out under me.
“LUNA!” Garrett’s voice echoed.
***
I blinked awake and found myself in the guest room. It had become my room since Alec started acting out.
I groaned as a sharp pain crossed my front head. I lifted my eyes gently and saw Garrett sleeping on the couch at the other end of the room.
Garrett Zendaya was the first son of the former Beta of Bloodmoon Pack. Just as my family was an Alpha family, his was the Beta family. It has remained so since the past few generations.
His family had always been loyal to mine. Thus, Garrett’s loyalty towards me.
But beyond pack ranks and powers, Garrett was like an elder brother to me. One I wasn't privileged to have at birth.
He was always looking out for me in the best ways he could. And I loved him…as my brother.
“Luna,” Garrett called, and I looked at him.
I was buried in my thoughts that I didn't realise when he woke up. Garrett was now sitting beside me, his eyes studied me.
“Stop looking at me like that. I'm fine now.” I brushed away the strands of hair lingering on my face.
He pursed his lips, and nodded before looking down.
“What did doc say?” I asked, and he raised his head to look at me.
“Did Alec come to see me? Was he worried about me?” My eyes lit with hope.
Garrett’s face turned blank, his eyes looked at me with pity. And I hated it. I hated how he looked at me like I was the weakest thing on earth.
“I'm sorry, Luna.” He mumbled.
“He didn't come?” My voice quivered.
Garrett nodded.
“Did he know? Maybe he didn't—”
“He and Angela rushed out of the room when I screamed your name. He only asked me to call the pack doctor and take you to the guest room before going back inside with Angela.”
My shoulders plunged, tears gathered around my eyes.
“I'm sorry, Luna.” Garrett muttered.
“What did the doctor say was wrong with me?” I asked the second time.
Garrett remained silent, only staring at me.
“Garrett.” I called.
“Your health is worsening, Luna. Muna is getting weaker. Doc is worried that your body might not be able to carry your pup. He's worried that they might have to perform a surgery on you and remove the pup before it's due time.”
“No!” I looked away from Garrett, and crossed my arms around my stomach protectively.
“Doc said that's the only way to keep you alive.”
I turned to look at Garrett. “I'm going to birth this pup even if I have to do it with the last drop of my blood.”
“Luna! Are you even hearing me? You're going to die if that pup remains in your belly. You're going to risk the pack and everything just for a pup?”
“It's Alec’s pup. He's wanted one for the past five years. I will be selfish if I deprive him of this opportunity of becoming a father.” I peered down at my stomach, rubbing my hand against it. “This pup might be the only ticket to bring Alec and I back together.”
“LUNA!” Garrett shouted, causing me to look up at him. “You're dying and you're still worried about Alec?” He asked.
“Get a grip on yourself, Garrett. I know what I'm doing. Make sure Doc doesn't say a word about my condition to anyone. That also applies to you. If the world should know I'm pregnant, then I should be the one to tell them.”
Garrett peered at me in confusion. His dark eyes were laced with so much worry and concern for me.
“Do you know that Angela is pregnant?” He asked.
“What?”
