Meeting the ladies...

1997 Words
Dalia “Oh no, I have a boyfriend.” I give a nervous smile. “Of course you do hun. You’re beautiful. But what will be will be.” She simply hunches her shoulders like it’s set in stone. I am not going to be with Maximus. He may be an amazing man, but his bed has a lot of overly satisfied customers begging to break his one night only rule. Have I thought of what it would be like to spend a night with him? Of course, he is a f*****g God to look at. Not one imperfection on him. Even the package he is holding I’ve felt pressed against me and I can totally understand how it weakens even a same woman. But I can’t do this. My loyalty is to Dino and Maximus has made it clear he only beds a woman for one night and never again. I truly don’t think I would survive a world without him in mine. Besides all of this, I know he is several hundred years old, so did he and this beauty of an older lady also…you know? Was she one of his s*x bunnies? I know the shocked look is on my face. I see Maximus try and keep a straight face. “Grandma CeCe is the official grandmother to Beta Colton. But she is the unofficial grandma to us all.” Maximus explains. “It’s so nice to meet you sweet child. I’ve been awaiting your arrival. But I had no idea how much magic was stored in you. Simply amazing.” She holds my chin looking in my eyes like I’m a snow globe. I give her an apprehensive smile. “Thank you?” I respond as she releases my chin. “Let’s get past the pleasantries, we have some work ahead of us. Getting your powers will be like preparing for birth. We will try spicy foods…” “Herbs.” Maximus chuckles translating her words for me. “Bouncing on an exercise ball.” CeCe adds as I try and keep up with her. She is pretty damn fast. “Sparring and combat.” Maximus translates again. “And if all else fails. Good old sex.” I stop walking looking at Maximus as I blush. I wait for his correction. “S.E.X. sweetheart. That could be the key also. With the right man of course.” She winks to Maximus and even he is trying to hold it together. “CeCe…” Maximus says in a warning tone. “When you get as old as I am you have to push others to what they need. Or what the moon goddess desires. Don’t shoot the messenger. Time wontwon’t be on our side. Someone is blocking you for a reason. When they find out you’re ready to fight back they will come. So, if having hot passionate mate marking s*x does the trick then you can thank me later.” She hunches her shoulders and takes me with my wide eyes by the arm. “Okay, Maximus I know the way to our lunch with the Luna. You go ahead and get to your meetings. We are fine.” I look at him with a little fear. I have no idea what will come out of this woman’s mouth next. “Yes ma’am. I’ll catch you after your lunch Dalia.” He nods walking away from my nervous eyes. “Behave. Both of you.” “Now what’s the fun in that.” CeCe whispers to me with a grin. “So, this lunch will be fun. I get to see you in action. Your moods. What gives you energy and so forth.” She tells me as we turn down another grand hall. I thought it was a simple lunch but I guess everything here has an additional meaning. This castle is simply stunning. Cream walls with faint gold brushed trim. Old tapestries from both families cover the walls. I’ve never seen so many vintage pieces. There was a lot of love put into keeping this castle as a monument to its descendants. I would love to live in a place like this. I first would need a past to celebrate. I’ve been hidden so long and my mother never spoke of her family. It was always just us two. We enter the formal dining hall. It’s like a large room that could seat the entire United Nations. There is a wall of windows that show the gardens. A few children run by outside as their giggles fill the air. I smile as we walk across the large open floor. In the center of the room is a round table that could seat probably ten. I see some familiar faces as we enter. Luna Briar, the Beta’s mate Emerson, sister to the Luna and Delta Parrish’s mate Malani, warrior Brooklyn and now CeCe and myself. We all greet each other. “Malani! Wow you are looking amazing after having twins! How are the babies?” I hug her looking at how her body is perfection. She has more curves now and she wears it well. She just moved here after leaving the Red Moon Coven where she found her mate. Delta Parrish was sent to the coven up north as a good will ambassador you could say. The land was bought by Queen Mira from Luna Briar and the coven was getting set up with Parrish’s help. Then they met, fell in love and just welcomed twin pups! “Thanks, I need a lot of energy with those two. They seem to develop new gifts daily. I swear! But it’s the best job in the world. Plus, all the family I have here to help is an added bonus.” She smiles releasing our hug. All the other ladies greet each other. When I get to Brooklyn she gives me a forced smile through gritted teeth. Why is she mad with me? I take my seat between Luna Briar and Grandma CeCe. Sitting across from me is Brooklyn. She tries to ignore all eye contact with me but I don’t allow it. I have no idea why she has a problem with me. It seems her issue is with Maximus and him only. As fruit spritzers are served with a beautiful strawberry, pecan and blue cheese salad with grilled chicken. Smoked salmon paninis and muffulettas, we make small talk. “So, we just wanted to welcome you to our pack lands. There is a lot of magic that comes to the surface when you are here. If you have powers or a gift. This land will conjure it up.” Luna Briar tells me. I feel welcomed from everyone in this room. Well, almost everyone. “I’m equally nervous and excited about this. I have no idea how I got this spell put on me but I’m really hoping you all can get rid of it.” I admit as I drink the bubbly drink. “Well, I can already see an overflow of magic. She is holding in something quite powerful.” Cece speaks. “Well, we will all help where we can.” Emerson adds. “I work with spells so I will be researching alongside CeCe.” “Even though I haven’t been training I will still help you. Oh, with the help of Brooklyn. She is an amazing warrior.” Malani tells me. ‘Of course she is…’ I hear a voice in my head. “You okay dear? You are frowning. Tell me what’s going on. Did you see something?” CeCe leans over whispering. She is very observant. “I heard that voice again. I can’t get them to respond to me which is so frustrating. But I heard it again.” I tell her. “I’m sure your true self is fighting just like you are. Being just as frustrated with this as well. Be patient with her.” Malani adds. “She is feisty. That is for sure.” I smile. “Oh, I mean whatever is inside me.” Brooklyn lets out a sarcastic chuckle. I ignore her but I am getting to my limit of what I will tolerate from her. “Wolf. It’s a wolf for sure. So, claim it. Maybe it will help you to communicate.” CeCe tells me. I nod in agreement accepting that I have a wolf. Why wouldn’t I know I had a wolf? Brooklyn leans back in her chair staring me down. I’ve ignored her through the day as best I could. “Do you have something you need to say?” I ask her. “No, I just can’t wait to get on the field with you.” Brooklyn tells me. “Amazing how I’m living rent free in your head yet you just met me. Literally a few hours ago I walked in for help and you decided who I was with was more important.” I return her stare. “Well…” Brooklyn begins but is cut off. “Brooklyn, you are a great warrior and you are needed here. But if you can’t put your personal issues aside, we can move on without you. She is a guest here just like you once were.” Luna Briar speaks directly with her. She straightens up in the chair. “No Luna. It won’t be a problem.” Brooklyn turns to me. “Sorry.” I give her a simple nod. I’m here for bigger things than some woman who slept with some man. Especially when I have slept with neither of the two. “Alright! Enough of the claws ladies. Let’s get on the field and see what we can figure out. Their field is huge and beautiful. It’s right off this massive gymnasium that has all the state-of-the-art weights and equipment. I’ve changed clothes and warmed up. We began sparring and I love it. My father started training me. But now I felt a rush of endorphins pulsing through me. I was made for this. Malani and I go over different techniques for battle. Emerson who is pregnant with twins is inside at her lab working on reversal spells and checking my bloodwork for anything that should not be there. Elder CeCe is here watching from a wicker chair wearing shades as a shirtless man fans her with a huge leaf. I have no idea where he came from. Funny thing is, no one questions this. I guess this is normal behavior for her. Malani moves in with a cane and I brace against it with my own. We press using our upper body then she gets a second wind and pushes out of our locked position. She thrusts her cane and breaks mine in half. I flex my neck side to side ready for hand to hand combat. “Switch. I need more.” Grandma CeCe yells to us. I take some deep breaths as Brooklyn enters the fighting circle. She looks a little too excited for this. She waves her fingers telling me to come closer. I smirk and keep circling her. She moves in throwing a punch. I dodge it and grip her by the neck slamming her into the dirt. Her nostrils flair as she jumps back up. She lands a punch to my side then the other side. I block the next attempt and hit her with an upper cut. “There we go ladies! Winner gets Maximus.” CeCe yells and I exhale. “I have a man!” I yell punching Brooklyn with another uppercut. “I already had him. I’m good.” She gets a lucky punch dead center busting my lip. Then she does some magic s**t and blasts me with a shot to the stomach. I slide across the ground. I swear it felt like slow motion. “What the hell!” I yell as I feel my eyes glow.
