baby steps

Tyler's POV

When she looked up to face me it was as if she was her old self again. A little sparkle lit up her eyes and I bend down and kissed her ever so softly. No pressure or passion just a gentle kiss telling her I wasn't going anywhere and no matter what we can fix anything.

But then she Pulled away. I wanted to pull her right back but I couldn't. She was a broken pup I had to help her lick her own wounds before she would let me back in.

Before she could get smart and run off on me again I spat out the first thing that came to my mind.

"Damn your beautiful"

"f*****g idiotic your suppose to keep her with you not scare her off let me handle this boy" Rider my wolf is furious.

"Pipe down you mange wolf I got this"

"I mean no you're not, Well of course you are but that's not all I think of you. You got a rocking body but I know that's not all there is to you. Err I mean, I'm just trying to say I love you, No f**k I mean obviously your my mate but even before that I still loved you not that that matters now. I just want to talk to you and figure stuff out whatever you want to do no pressure I promise."

I smack myself in the face and my wolf groans internally, since when am I blubbering i***t around her.

She cracks up laughing and I let out a sign. Appently my blumble wasn't a complete fail.

"We do need to talk but I'm not sure if you can manage anything that will be of use to me." She stuck out her tongue and gave a little wink. I got a chance here lets try this again.

"Give me a break I've spent that last two years trying to only be your alpha and forget my feelings and our friendship and then in a flick of switch your now my mate. My whole world has been tossed around again. Sorry I can't help but blurt out everything I have been dying to say to you since we were twelve years old.

She took pause. I don't think she knew I had loved her that long. She shakes her head and continues.

"reguardless neither of us are those two people anymore so how is this suppose to work. I'm not going to magically stop bring angry. Do you really think the pack needs a rebellious luna like me?"

"We don't have to have your luna ceromony tomorrow. Lets just take it one step at a time. baby steps. For starters how about we go back to the pack house. We can have dinner and talk as long as you'd like. If you want I can have a guestroom made up for you. You can stay there whenever you'd like but if you'd rather the comfort of your own home we can go there instead. Or I can send you home at the end of the night. What do you say? baby steps?"

She stared at her toes for a while. Obviously torn between our past and Present lives. I take her hand gently making her look up. "It's ok I Won't let anything happen to you. Or pressure you in anyway" As if that was the right thing to say. She laughed again and this time pulled me closer wrapping her arms around my neck.

"You think I'm some kind of damsel in destress that needs your rescuing."

I paused clearly having said the wrong thing I couldn't think what else to say. Her lips were right there daring me to kiss them. She leaned closer her hands trailed down my chest giving me lightning shock all over. her eyes flutter closed and I follow suit waiting on her to lean the rest of the way. WHACK she punched me in the gut and knock the wind straight out of me.

I choked on air while she cackled her head off.

"Dude your going to rude this for us come on man. she lost her mom not her entire identity, She still my bad ass Mae who needs no man can your caretaking s**t before she rejects us."

"You still think Im weak and defenseless?" She said enjoying my pain and suffering. Clearly she wanted me to know she could handle herself and I did. what I ment wad something words could not portray. I straightened up and tried again.

"You clearly can handle yourself, you always could. I only ment that if you don't want to be seen with me by the pack you don't have to be. I'm letting you call the shots here just please give me, give us, give this a chance."

she nodded and we headed back down the cliff. After about thirty minutes we came to a road where a vehicle sat parked I walked up to the passanger side and held the door open for her. She looked at me puzzle and I answered her question.

"I had Justin park this here when you took off into the woods."

She nodded but didn't say anything. Her hand brushed mine as if she needed to connect with me as much as I was dying to connect with her. Most mates mark and mate eachother within the first few hours of finding one another. So for us to not only go for a run but also try and talk things out and hike back down the cliff too. My skin was crawling to take her. It took every part of me to be cool. I dont know how she's handling it so well.

We drove in silience and when we approached town I asked "Your place or mine?" she rolled her eye looked out the window and said,

"I guess yours."
